What ruins RP the most for you?

Snippy tone is in "what I do". It can't be helped. Sorry if I hit you as a hostile type of person, which I USUALLY am not. I just don't like that especially when I'm ASKED to state my opinion, that my opinion is judged. |

Er okay, good luck with those tone problems.
On topic, hypocrites also ruin Rp for me because it gives me more people to be annoyed at and less to play with. Do not go 'oh lol those smelly Erpers smell and live in basements' and then get caught emoting Erp. |

My biggest pet peeve regarding role-play at the moment is the troubling amount of role-players who decide to see how far they can push the boundaries of the lore in order to justify a strange character concept instead of just working with what we have already.

Folks coming up with drama in the middle of ae leisure event. I rarely manage to force myself ( even more rare it is for me not to have to force myself ) to pity their problems for longer than three minutes, and then go back to what I was doing - but it still gives me that embarassing feeling of "That's not how it'd go in a real life".
Example: Newly formed guild set out ae small party, so that the people can get to know each other. They talk, more'r'less merry, about this and that. Then, when they came to talking about their lives, ae Death Knight stands up ( when I was playing two years ago, DK's were the most river crying of all the people when role playing ) and quickly tells us how he was raped, killed, raised as an undead servant of the greatest enemy of livingkind and then betrayed. Everyone make ae sad face, nod and say something. Few minutes later they talk about somebody else, and all is merry again. People rarely want drama - at least I want very little of it, and I remember many times when it bothered others as well. Having to play along it is, for me, one of most unpleasant parts of role-playing, leaving a bad taste in my mouth ( RP duels are next in line ). |

This! Please! Yes! And then, go ahead and ignore you when you point out to them that telling everyone in the vicinity they are evil and have killed loads of people. Also assassins. God-Moters + Assassins? All three mixed together. Raaarfg?!?! |

When people don't role play but do a theator where the outcome of every little detail are alreayd decieded.

People who always have something to complain about. Including this thread. I've scrolled through it, and all I saw where people complaining about minor flaws.
Personally, I think you lot shouldn't give a rats !@# about it and just carry on with your roleplay if you know that you're right. We all have peeves, but to create a thread about it is just attention seeking. |

Face it we all have - And no this is not the place for attention seekers I see at as a place for people to share their opinions and experiences with things that annoy them in roleplay - And yes some of this is minor but can have a huge effect on the on-goin roleplay! Also don't throw with rocks when you live in a glass house yourself - You seem to be the most attention seeking of all to come and disagree with the thread (Not you should not be allowed to) Who is the real attention seeker here standing from the majority of the crowd? Think about it for a minute. |

i would like to add something to this list:
-people using enlargement potions and claiming it's lore to be big,i didn't see any lore that there were people that made themselves gigantic just to be threatening,infact you look ridiculous and need to be slapped about because you decided to do such a thing,only taurens are allowed to be big aslong as they don't use the enlargment potions -elitists,they are the ones who ruin the roleplay community,not thosse that are new or aren't great at roleplay -people demanding proper grammar,i could understand it but it's downright annoying for everyone ignoring you just because you don't add a *Tall start and a dot behind it.* maybe some people just need to quickly respond to something and don't have the time to do thosse things,just stop ignoring people because of it -people not differencing time from real occurences and ingame,as we all know things in real time go faster than ingame,so can you explain to me how does a spit travel very slowly,so slow that a mage can turn it in nothing in a split second? i once asked that and all i got was shouts and rude answers,so basiacly they were somewhat of a jackass -RP combat..that is all i will say |

well i will tell you a small story: i was in stormwind cathedral square,minding my own business as a sherlock holmes wannabe on my worgen rogue in AD,then some person who was a black priest (no racism intended) aproached someone and said *i am lord whatshisfaec,defender and major of goldshire* so i decided to whisper the guy he was harassing about it and he asked me to help him out,so i aproached the loonie and he called me a peasant and that i should throw myself off a bridge,so he then continued to harass the guy even when he was talking to another person so i decided to still try to drag the douchy priest away,then he kept calling me a peasant and to leave him be,even when i said something he said *did you hear an insect?* then eventually stripped naked and danced,even kneeled before the guy every time he said something so basiacly i then wanted to speak to the guy who was not the loonie and didn't have time for a moment,then the priest laughed at me and called me a peasant,then walked to the guy and said *let's go mate* then turned around,pointed and laugh at me,therefore earning a nice ignore on my part,the end as you can see from the story the person was lvl 1,a stupid person who wanted to join his guild EVEN if he was allready in a guild and all that..you know i kinda want to think what goes on in their minds like *i will make a black priest and make myself look important!*...probably people are gonna hate me because i pointed out his priest was black but..i don't mean any racism,if i would,part of my mind would want to kill myself |
Not trying to go 'you are bad and should feel bad' here but why specify that he's black? I can get specifying race in Azeroth since it can add to how lulzy or not a scenario is (Queen Cerulla thinking she holds authority in the Eastern Kingdoms) but it just makes me think you think that white=default and normal whereas this blackness is so different that it needs pointing out even when its not really relevant. I mean would you go 'one say I saw this white human Rper when suddenly...'? |

well i assumed he made it like so he could make it look like they are well...something not so good,i mean he allready was behaving like a jackass,what are the possibilities of him making his character well...dark-colored just to make IRL people that are dark-colored look like...you know what forget i said anything |

I've Rped on characters before. But my heart belongs to my pve guild :) I would love to bring RP to hellfire, but its unlikly people would, RP likes to have a community :), i have rped on hellfire before however believe it or not :)
Things that annoy me about RP is, God-modders/moters the real killers of RP ERP. No thinking, no fun, and if its in public its tons worse. People just being ignorant towards newbies in rp, i think they deserve some help at least for attempting :) Random trolls who do things for giggles Its quite a selfish act, but alot don't quite care. Random killings against players will. I just feel its not really a justice to kill of a players character against there will, its not very entertaining, i've seen it happen before and no one really enjoys that? Do they? |

Things that ruin RP for me are my own fault. Man, I feel so unique.
Things that ruin RP for me: 1. Being unable to enjoy large-scale events. I can never keep up with more than two or three conversations and more often than not end up just standing in the corner whenever I'm forced to RP in a larger group. 2. Developing my characters in a way I regret later. I've abandoned a number of character because of some stupid decisions that made my RP boring/annoying/bad. |

People who call "Lore-breach" on anything that they perceive to be even slightly off, then proceed to whisper to me that something I just said/did/wrote in my bio had to be brought up or agreed on by everyone present before I get to do anything with it.
Even worse when all they did was just walk in off of the street, glanced your mrp, walk out and THEN complain in whispers. Mostly though when people tell me I don't know Lore, I bust out the 'Loremaster' title and/or colours. And yes, I am one of those people who actually reads the quest texts. Overall though, in a world full of magic, steampunk and other such things, I feel it a really bad call when you tell someone that they can't do 'X' when the actual button to do it with is sitting right here on my toolbar. Just because Knaak never wrote about Lord Alfalfastrasz using the Wormhole Generator to go share a bowl of Captain Crunch with Rhonin, doesn't mean it's 'not lore/canon/possible' for me to bust out this highly unstable piece of engineering and flee to the Storm Peaks... |
