Halycordian
*************************************
Halycordian listened to all the sounds : Leins voice, guards voices, a troll voice, other voices, so many voices, all unknown. Nothing of all that had any meaning to Hal.

It had still been light while they were walking to the citadel, but seemed like the evening was coming and with evening, dusk. Now when it became darker Hal could see better again. Silently he took a few steps back from all the things that were going on. It was now even darker and he could see pretty well. Soon it would be night …

There was not really anything for him to do in the Violet Citadel, he thought. They had his records and that lieutenant at the Hold had seemed set on coming back to him. He didn’t believe it would be such a good idea for him to ask for a job there.

Lein Sunsword … but he could hardly ask a pregnant woman and single mother that he had recently met to take care of him. And she was a magistrix of Kirin Tor too. Not to mention how quickly she had let go of him now when they were here. Was it not better that he simply took care of himself somehow? He was used to rely on himself, not lean on others … He would maybe find a way back to Lein, later …

While things went on at the crowded doors and vestibule of the citadel, Hal stepped out from the light of the lanterns and vanished quietly into the dark and the crowd on the street.

Arthaban walked in. He quickly walked towrds lein, as he had to ask her what happened.
'Lein! How great we have finnaly found achother again. What happened to you? Where were you? I have great news, we fou-...'
Arthaban cut off his sentence. they also lost the child again, and he didn't think it would be wise to tell her that right now. Arthaban still didn't know the child was already found.
'We found... The female kidnapper! Yes, my trollish friend here just brought her here, so now all two kidnappers are gone! Anyway, back to you. Are you alright?'

Guest chamber
***********************
Well, it was getting late and Sunshard needed to get some rest and sleep. For all she knew he might be asleep already.

It had been calm and peaceful to sit there for a while instead of being busy with a thousand things. But now Averine guessed it might be time to patrol a bit.

She got to her feet and walked to the door.

That´s it. I´m leaving.
Linebeck started to walk again when he remembered something.
My pets! How will they get up!?

Blaze and Frostbite had left their waiting place and continues towards the ruins close by.
Well there, they saw some mages there and a floating crystal. Interested, Frostbite got closer with Blaze next to her. And in an instant, they got teleported. A mage noticed it and reported it to the mages in Dalaran.

- Ah yes... The captain is waiting for you. Go in.
Zanzere walked in and saw Arthaban talking to the female elf. As the woman saw the female elf she started to pull and drag more intensive.
- Hey, stop it! You have to pay for your crimes you know!

Khairan began dreaming, drifting off into yet another world of his own; of crystal fortresses and endless voids, arcane flows and strange lands.

If only he knew that someone was considering investigating his "role" within the Kirin Tor, he would not have slept so soundly...

But for now, he could dream about arcane sheep.

The blind beggar
**********************
Halycordian sat on the pavement outside the alchemy shop in the magus commerce quarters.
Empathic bypassers threw coin at him, assuming he was a beggar. A guard sergeant with black googles passed by, obviously patrolling. She stopped in front of Hal and watched him. “Eye injury?” She asked.

Hal had a weird, mixed impression of death and life. Sometimes his sense of people took the form of colours. This woman felt like mostly black, but with a hint of gold.

“Here” she said evenly. “You can have my spare.” She walked on.

She hadn’t given him any coin. But for just a second the golden colour had lit up and glowed at him out of the darkness. She had put something in his hand : black googles. Hal put them on and his eye problem was finally over.

Sergeant Shaw returned to the Citadel just in time to see a captured woman slip out of the grip of a troll. The woman didn’t run out to the street. Instead she quickly rushed trough the vestibule and into the citadel itself, and before the surprised people in the vestibule knew it she had disappeared up the stairs.

Averine reacted at once and ran after the woman, but didn’t find her. She had vanished without a trace, like she knew exactly where to go. Or like someone inside the citadel had helped her … the latter thought was troublesome indeed.

That would mean that there was something weird going on in the citadel. And if so, it could mean that Kirin Tor had been infiltrated and there were traitors among them. This in turn … could mean many things.

Someone that was able to dupe Kirin Tor? In that case, who could that be? A person of authority? A mage of higher rank? One of Averine’s own superiors in the guard? Or some minor mage dabbling in forbidden things ? Or a total outsider that had managed to get into the citadel without being noticed, in spite of how hard that was?

Averine returned to the vestibule and the people there and ordered them all to tell her what they knew about that woman and what was going on here.

Athaban saw the woman run away, and wanted to go after her, but was stopped by a guard, and was instead asked what he knew about the woman.
'That woman? She means trouble! A kidnapper, the kidnapper of magistrix Lein Sunsword's daughter, no less! My friends and I were tracking her a long way, though the sewers. She was not alone, the only person she was with at the moment was a man, using dark magics: Both fel and shadow. The man is...killed though. However, she may also be able to use these or other magics. There were at least wto monsters involved, including the magus-ratcat. I've never heard of it before, but it must be in some book aound here or something. Both of those monsters are defeated, the cat part of the magus ratcat is still free though. We caught her ight before the battle with that beast, but during it I believe, she escaped. Then Zanzere here mannaged to catch her again some time later, and brought her here. That is all for as far as I know.'

Averine considered this somewhat unclear sounding information.

She looked at them: Lein Sunsword, this unknown mage that was speaking now, the troll and the dranei.

So. Well, well, well ...

The four of them had been trying to catch kidnappers all on their own, without asking for help from Kirin Tor? Cat part of ratcat? Fel and shadow magic ?

There seemed to be a lot of more questions that needed to be asked ! But. The most important now was the security of the citadel. Averine would work at the investigation herself. But she could need a special task force of people that weren't working for anyone in the citadel, except for Averine Shaw. People that maybe wanted her to not ask too many questions of them ...

She sent the guards and the doorkeeper out saying she was going to ask for secret info.

Now they were alone there, Averine, Zanzere, Arthaban, Lein and Majestor.

"Alright" Averine said. "I suspect there's traitors inside Kirin Tor so we aren't going to tell the higher mages and guard officers anything about this right now."

"You four" she continued. "You have not followed the law. I could send you to the dungeons for interrogation. But. As you seem to be working at this already and have a lot of knowledge. I want to hire you to go on solving this weird crime."

She took off her googles and stared at them:

"Find that woman ! And if there's someone she's working for, find that one too! You are free to take the actions that you think are needed if you get into trouble, but you report to me. Only to me! That way I don't need to waste time on asking more questions, eh ? What do you say? What's your names? "

'My name is Arthaban, but please tell me: How have we not followed the law? Because we tried to solve a crime, and helped someone we didn't even know get her child back? Because we didn't have the time to, in all the attacks on us, and following the criminal, also go up and warn aother mage? If we would do that, we would have lost her and never found the child! Sure, maybe we didn't do it the exact way the law states, but I'd be damned if we didn't do the right thing. If you wish so, take me to the dungeons, if it's only interrogation, then why not? i don't have any secrets. Maybe it will be even better, because there I'll have the time to explain all that has happened a bt clearer. However, you spoke of a trator within the Kirin Tor? In that case, I don't think it is us who must be interrogated. Do you have any suspects? Motives? Any information at all beside what I just told you?'

Arthaban seemed to have lost ALL of the nice, gentle, well-behaving man that traveled through the sewers earlier. But then again, he was REALLY annoyed right now. Suddenly THEY were in the wrong here?
In his rant, he didn't even notice he STILL hadn't bathed, and the smell seemed to get worse. But there was no time for that now. Problem solving first, personal hygiene later. But really immediatly after!

"Yes" Averine said sternly. "Because you tried to solve a crime. That's exactly why. As soon as you knew it was a kidnapping you should have alerted the Kirin Tor."

"You took the law in your own hands. That's how you haven't followed the law."

The mage smelled like scourge, Averine noticed in passing by.

"Very well" she said. "I have offered you to cooperate. And it was a good offer too. But if you are the kind that makes trouble, and if you prefer interrogation ...well ... "

She called the guards back. "Seize them all and put them in the dungeons! I will interrogate them and squeeze the the full truth out of them. And put them in separate cells. I don't want them to agree on any lies! "

"I'll make it quick and efficient" she added. Averine decided to simply interrogate them in the order they were imprisoned, starting as soon as possible with the first one that was in a cell.

The guards now obeyed their orders and attempted to seize the four people and drag them to the dungeons.

Linebeck had continued through the tunnels in the sewers untill he was at a dead end.
- Urgh... I can´t take this anymore... Wait!
He took out his bag and looked into it.
- Where is it... where is it... there!
He took out a book. One special book he got from the archmage Vargoth. It was The schools of Arcane Magic - Mastery.
- Lets see... he told me to read the words on page 25 and I would be right with him...
He looked onto page 25 and read the words.
- Teleport to Vargoth... Now! Wait... what? Seriously?
More didn´t he get to say as he was teleported to Vargoths room.

In meantime, Blaze and Frostbite had gone to Breannis shop to get their masters last pet.
Neburi, the green shale spider. She was sleeping when they came so she was walking a bit drowsy as they were making their way to the Violet citadel, as they saw their masters friend Zanzere going towards there. Now, they were stuck outside as the doors was locked.
Neburi tried to knock on the door.

Silverwing had flown up and saw that the worgen he had lifted had gone into the citadel. Right now, she was flying at the top of it, waiting for the doors to open.

- What!? Hey, I had done what the captain asked for, and now your gonna imprison me for that!?
He was gonna take out his sword as he heard the kncking on the door.
- Oh wait. It´s knocking.
He went to the door and opened it, as he opened, a red core hound, a spirit beast, a green shale spider and a white hippogryph came in.
- Wow! Is this a zoo or something!?
Then he noticed who they were.
- Hey... So it´s you guys! Good to see you! Can I get some help?

Arthaban tried to calm down again.
'I am sorry, but please... Do not include my friends in this. I was the one who prefered interrogation, they do not. Unless they, too, choose so, let them remain free. They have done nothing.'
Arthaban was now thinking about a way to get out of this himself. He actually didn't want to go to the dungeons, those were meaningless words, quickly spoken while in a state of anger.
'Wait a second...'
He tried hard to recall the past events...Then, the answer hit him (he hoped)
'There...there was a Kirin tor mage with us! An Archmage, no less! Surely you have records of Archmage Agastache? And, speaking of that, the one we were helping, Lein Sunsword, is also affiliated with the Kirin Tor. So, we were in fact in service of the Kirin Tor, meaning we were in service of the state of Dalaran, if I am correct... If you still want answers, I'd be glad to be of service, but I don't think interrogation and dungeons would be needed anymore...Right?'
Arthaban was getting a bit more confident now...

"I didn't know that as you didn't say that when I first asked you" Averine said evenly. "How could I know that."

She shrugged. " In that case I guess I don't need to waste any more time here. Sorry to have disturbed you."

If she had been a mere human Averine might have said something or asked questions. But as she was a deathknight she just concluded it seemed to be pointless to stay.

She dismissed the guards and started walking towards the door.

Arthaban, now once again able to behave as he normally did, immediatly began his politcal talk.

'No, i am sorry. I shouldn't have left out information that was obviously of great import. I had it coming to me. I hope you can forgive my outburst, but I think it is well understandebale after what happened today.'
Then, he saw her leave.
'Well, now that that's over... I hope I didn't just blow away all bonds I could possibly hope to get wth the Kirin Tor...'
Arthaban was now trying to think of anything good that came from his outburst, that wouldn't have happened otherwise.
'Well, uhm...At least she left now, while she already snt her guards away, allowing us to move freely... And uhm...No, i don't think I did anything particurly good beside that...If that even counts...'

The Citadel was full of guards of course. It was not like the one's that Averine had dismissed had left the citadel, nor were they the only ones. No way.

Averine hadn't left the citadel either. She had just walked out from the vestibule, as she saw no point at all in getting a lot of guards wounded and buthered in some pointless fight about nothing.

The mage had told her the rescue party had been led by two Kirin Tor Mages. Well. Then she knew that now. So what more was there to say. If that mage had anything he wanted to tell Averine about, then he would simply need to seek her out and speak with her.

She hoped that in that case he would manage to come alone, so they wouldn't be interrupted at once by people trying to kill Averine. Or end her existence, might be the correct words. It was not at all impossible to speak with her.

Averine had died once already. She didn't want to repeat that experience.

'Well then, I'm going to search for the female kidnapper then. She said we could do that, right? You are all free to follow, of course.'
And then, Arthaban set off in the direction he thought the kidnappper went.
'Hmm... Maybe she went to the guest chambers? If there is indeed a traitor, he is likely in there...'
And so it happened, that Arthaban (hoped to) follow the kidnapper into the guest chamber, checking every door, and getting closer to khairan's chamber.
