We're starting work on heroic Morchok now. Did pretty well last Friday on our first attempts and hopefully we'll have him down soon.

Oh and bump by the way :)

I like your post Taitrina, well written and motivated. Still leaves out some essential facts about TMG like strictness and zerotolerance in guildchat for example which has made it from once a active chat to a graveyard more or less. Also not mentioning the split between raidgroup and rest of TMG it´s like 2 different guilds in one. Was an officer there back in TBC and rejoined on another character to see how guild is nowadays. Well got a short visit and never more, there are so much better guilds with ppl helping each other out regardless if they are in the "core" or not. But happy for you if you are pleased there and good luck.

I'm not too sure how to respond to the points you raised Hoocha. Your post is also well written and perfectly reasonable. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and I'm trying to see it from the other point of view.

Strictness in guild chat I suppose depends on your attitude. No respectable guild would allow casual talk promoting drugs, bullying comments, racist remarks, begging for freebies etc. We go a step further and ask that members don't swear as it's a family friendly guild. If you can't play without swearing then I can understand why that would seem harsh. I have to bite my tongue (or my hands I suppose) on occasion as I suspect most adults do as you get used to swearing. It's a small sacrifice to make for the good of the guild though to maintain the family friendly atmosphere. I also wouldn't say that guild chat was a ghost town. I of course don't know if it used to be more active but it's a lot more active than some guilds I've been a part of. A matter of perspective I suppose.

As for the split between the raid team and the rest of the guild. I'd be lying if I said that there wasn't one. When you're grouped with people for a good few hours a week, and you talk on vent, you get to know them better. I suppose it's also human nature to be more willing to help out people that you're friends with, and who have helped you out, than others. Each person only has a certain amount of time to play a week and nobody can do everything. Yes people ask in guild for a tank for this or a healer for that and don't always get someone jumping up to help them, but sometimes they do. If people ask questions then they always get a response, even if it's a question like "where's the reforger" or something that they could ask a guard for. Class/spec questions, gear questions, "why am I having trouble with this boss" questions always get a response. Not always instantly but they are always answered.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I understand your point of view. It's not been my experience but then I guess I am part of the 'core' that you mentioned. I try and help people when I can and we try and run events each week for the general guild, not just the raid team. We also always ask in guild before we look elsewhere if we need more people. We pretty much never get a response so the lack of integration isn't just one sided. It's a big guild which has it's advantages and disadvantages. We all do our best and unfortunately that's not always enough.

What I missed was the spontanity in chat ppl could not speak freely, not meaning swearing etc but selfirony for example. My char was an arcane mage and chatremarks about the simplicity of the specc caused an outrage from an officer (who was a newbie when I was there last time) followed by a spam of macros of guildrules. For a guild to be alive I expect ppl to be free to speak their mind even if it occasionaly might offend some.

Like in all guilds there are nice and less nice players, noobs and elitists. Really like your way of motivating your points of wiew even if they are far from the TMG I got a short glimpse of. Love you Taitrina and take care. See you in game XD

PS join ROLO and get lucky you´d fit in well DS

If you don't like it, why bother posting? :)
I'm sure you're very welcome to post on any other forums for other guilds/realms - but if you don't like the guild, take it somewhere else.

PS. You're playing Horde on BDF, GG.
