Topic The decline of SSL
To whom it concerns,
We the players of SSL server, would like Blizzard to take note of the decline of ongoing 25 man raiding, and increase chatter about guilds moving away from server because of low population.
During the recent 2 months or so, large guilds within the SSL community have been struggling with running 25 man raids, due to decrease in activity, we, population of SSL, kindly request that you, Blizzard, take it into consideration of merging servers or offer free migration to our low populated server, as we badly need new blood to be able to continue playing this game as it was meant to be played on our server.
Your current service of moving characters should not be a mandatory for us players of SSL to continue to have fun. As your paying customer, I would really like you to look into this matter.
Even as I write this, I have great doubts that you (Blizzard) will even look at the status for some of your dying servers, as you are too busy working on your $$payed$$ transfer service. But hey, at least I/WE tried.
Hoping that MoP will cut it and bring live to your servers again, well it might do it, when it is released, after what 6 months or so, but in the mean time, we have player base that will be increasingly unhappy with current affairs.
The main problem might be that Blizzard still beeing in the denial that this game as whole is declining, it is time to unite servers and bring players together so they feel that this game is still a MMORPG but not a graphical interface for a lobby.
Please sign here below or comment, if you feel like the server is on its last breath of activity.
I would like to, kindly, point out that this is indeed not the thoughts of all players on the server Scarshield Legion and I would highly appreciate if you could edit your post so that it does not contain such lies.
Sadly a merge will almost certainly not happen. It's been suggested before over the last 2-3 years but nothing has ever come of it.
Also, despite the claim of being loyal customers, Blizz are under no obligation to do anything for us. We say that we will comply with their rules, but they are under no such charge of care for us. Also, they realise that the game is declining in numbers, mainly because people have started copying Blizz in how they set up their own MMOs and so they have probably decided that having 10 million is what they want, rather than the 12-15 that they might previously have had.
Whilst I wholeheartedly support the intent behind your post, such initiatives have had no effect in the past and are unlikely to do so in the future. It seems that we have 3 options if we want some change:
1 - Quit the game
2 - Level up a char on another server
3 - Pay for a transfer
1 means no more WoW, but it also means that it's a lost customer. Theoretically that could, eventually, lead to some action from Blizz, but I'm guessing it would have to be all (or near enoug) of the SSL server for it to mean anything.
2 is a lot easier than it used to be, but I would agree with any of the complaints about having to gear up again. I can only imagine how long it might take to get back to where you currently are.
3 is basically admitting defeat to Blizz's mater plan.
Less complaining, more enjoying the game. Blizzards sly money making schemes are there if you don't like it, pay Blizzard- and they will listen to you and transfer you to a populated realm.
They have a solution for most things, if you pay for it! Sad, but true.
Our realm is fine as it is, it is little and friendly at time consisting of mature players (again, at times)
Also our overpriced economy, merge would have a large impact on that- which can be brutal for some of the players.
Its unlikely that a Blizzard will even consider this post- but lets see what comes out of it.
Didnt take the 10 man champs long to swoop in here...
You are a 10 man guild with the best progress on the server (and horde side, no idea how it is there now days), you are obviously not having people troubles, but we are. So please if you could leave this conversation to the ones concerned? Not like we dont have enough of these threads but try to show some respect.
I for one agree with the OP, i have not seen a new guild arrive on SSL for years, but ive seen plenty leave.. Something needs to be done without a doubt.
there are more alliance players than horde these days so saying "your horde you have higher pop" no longer really counts as an argument to why we have better progress
Also since we are a rp-pvp server the chances of us ever being merged are at 0%
for a start who'd keep there guild and character names?

Noone said anything about horde having a higher population. Read my post before commenting on it please. And the merging of realms will never happen, ever. But a free transfer to a half emty server has been Blizzard's answer for the same problem in the past.

If you realy think that 10man guilds arent affected by the low population, you should wake up... ALL guilds have problems with getting raids filled, not only the 25man guilds. But I have to admit its harder to fill a 25man raid then a 10man raid.
Merging servers isnt a solution. We get problems like this:
If Blizz would close the high populated realms to new players, they have to chose a low populated realm. Im not saying its the best solution. Cuz I'm sure many ppl wouldnt agree with me. But at least its an idea.
I could never just start over on another server. I'm almost at 11k achi points, it took alot of time to get that and I cant just leave that behind. For the casual raiders/pvpers who dont care about achievements, starting all over would be less of an issue.
Maybe Blizz could create a cross server ah? Or a cross server trade chat to find ppl for raids...
And maybe another idea, which most of you wouldnt like. But it would give the 25man progress on this server a boost....
Merge 25man guilds...
I didnt say 10 man guilds are not affected by the low population.. the fact remains that it takes 150% more people to fill a 25 man.
And how would you go about merging the only two 25 mans left on the server? Who will lead? Who will keep their Officer / Cleader status? And what if both guilds have about 20 active raiders? We tell 15 people to bugger off? What if the goals of each guild dont match?
Merging of guilds might be an option on a server with options.

I think I showed him very good respect when I, kindly, asked him to edit his post so that it does not contain lies. Him saying he speaks for the population sounds like he speaks for the entire population of the server, which he obviously does not. Him putting it like that makes it my concern aswell.
Edit 2: We, Pureblood, merged with Primal Fusion back in WotLK, worked out ok.
Who said anything about merging a 25man guild with another 25man guild? You could just merge with a 10man guild.
We have plenty of options left. We just have to put some effort in it.

Oh one more thing, cant let this slip! Where do you see all these plenty of options? There are 3 25 man guilds on the entire server, all ally side. ( As far as i know ofc. ) And one of them is on its way to another server. That leaves two.
Thats plenty of options right? Well put effort in making another 25 man guild so we can merge it with ours?
And if you think the 10 man scene hasnt been scouted your very wrong, most of them just want to be 10 man and play with freinds. Or hate us, so that leaves them out i guess.
I dont know the number of 10 man guilds ally side but all viable options have been checked out as far i know. People would not be making these endless threads if there wasnt a !@#$ing problem in place... Its amazing how quick the few that are doing well are able to swoop in and tell everyone everything is fine.
"Soma, Life's good - Shut up."
Oh for christ sake not this again. If you want the opinions of practically everyone who has posted so far and everyone else who will be doing so in the next few days just read one of the other dozens of threads identical to this one on our realm forum.
You're not the first to complain, you wont be the last, but please just bump one of the other "help us SSL is dead!" threads rather than starting yet another.
Pointless and irritating,
Indeed. Speak for yourself, not us.
