Searing Totem - Enough is enough.

So do I, trust me. If nothing is done about it then I have no idea what I'm gonna do to be honest. I can't in good conscience continue playing if they don't pull the plug on this godawful 2 year old gamebreaker of an issue. We need some serious love now or the spec will be dead. |
They know whats going on in here. I guess they just dont know what they are going to do about it yet, thats why they dont say !@#$. |

I know right? People have been complaining for 2 years and they haven't said a word about it. I find that strange to say the least, considering that they respond to whatever petty problems (by comparison) that other classes face. This needs to be removed, its already way too late.

Agree completely, Searing Flames is an absolutely garbage mechanic. Not only does it not work a lot of the time, I also DESPISE feeling tied to my totem. I also find it disconcerting that we haven't had a single blue post concerning the matter.

I wish people would - in general, not specifically here - use the vote/bury tool more often. It's always "Reported this for sticky" because someone likes a post or "Reported" because it's disliked. Meh. Sticky is for well, stickies, and reporting for stuff which should be deleted/banned.
There's already a bury-option for stuff one things is just not useful to the forum, and a +1 for cool stuff or very well-written posts. |

Don't personally see myself playing Shaman anymore if this mechanic doesn't go away. Heck, I'll probably end up playing Resto as main spec like always - meaning it doesn't affect me at all, but it's the fact that Blizzard overlapped this silly mechanic that gets me.
It just feels awful playing a spec in PvE that constantly has to be fearful for a mechanic that may or may not work. And in PvP, it's just vomit inducing having to redrop a totem every 20 yards to ensure my hardest hitting ability actually hits hard AFTER STACKING 5 DEBUFFS. |

Im in the same boat. I decided to put my shaman on the shelf and maybe use him for healing some guildies on the rare occasion that no other healer is available. Just dont see any future for enhancement when the dev team themselves are hellbent on holding us back. |

I don't even care about Searing Totem and the stacks anymore, when it happens it's a nice extra but often I think it might be more beneficial actually keeping the stacks on the target and keep it for when the enemy is low and you need to score a kill.
But most of the time I just use Lava Lash as a filler and I'm totally not impressed by any of the elemental damage enhancement can put out and just like to play with double WF instead. And in general I'm not happy about enhancement @ 85, it was much more fun @ 80. Still I play it from time to time, like sticking to a bad drug. We have been nerfed to the ground since 80 and don't give me that support class crap since every other class/spec has at least as much utility atm. |

I find it funny how this topic has reached 16 pages (by god I won't read them all, and this has probably been said) and added on top of that, I believe it was Solex, who at some given point dug out a huge-huge list of shamans complaining about their class. The vast majority was "searing totem" problems.
If you look at blue posts and what Blizzard seem to say, the overall idea is that they understand the shaman community hates their totems currently, but nobody, or as far as I've seen has actually addressed searing totem being stupid publicly. Pride would be hurt too much if they completely scrapped this idea I get the feeling. I mean, I thought it was a cool way to go with originally, when I started playing enhancement (switched over from resto at wrath). Just it doesn't work how it is supposed to work, at all. Pet control bar isn't really much to ask for, so I don't get it, really. Now looking back, I wish this mechanic got removed alltogether. |

While I see where you're coming from I can tell you that having double WF isn't any good. It has an internal cooldown and you don't want it to be wasted on a weaker procc from the off-hand. Other than that, I agree on most of your points from a PvP perspective. I don't try my utmost to keep the searing stacks up either in some fights, as the GCDs wasted would do more harm than good. The vast majority was "searing totem" problems. This pretty much reflects my feelings exactly. Even though I've always played Enhance, I still loved the idea when it came. However, the way the fights have been designed now turns this into a major problem as the totem isn't even close to keeping up. I also agree with your feeling that there is some misplaced sense of pride from the developers and that this is the reason for it not being removed. It should have never left the drawing board in its current state, and I wouldn't mind it still being there - hell I'd welcome it - if they just made the simple change that the totem could stack a buff on us while it shoots enemies. Problem would be solved, easy and harmless to introduce as that type of mechanic already exists. |

Will it really be so difficult to make it something like rogue poisens...so that when we hit the target a dot gets applied ? So... if we swap targets then we can restart the stacking and not have to redrop totems and have them keep attacking the previous target.

So... if we swap targets then we can restart the stacking and not have to redrop totems and have them keep attacking the previous target. It seems impossible for the developers to change anything in the enhance specc.. I'm starting to get really angry over this !@#$. I have to go elemental to have enough dps for the tendons on hc spine. And i dont like elemental. |
This. While it has been "possible" to kill spine HC for Enhancement, we have been far from optimal on the fight. I think there was ONE Enhance player who defeated Spine HC before the nerfs started rolling in. What they (the developers) have done, is to successfully "bully" a specc away from enjoying the entirety of the game. Sure, all specs might not - and should not - be optimal on all fights, but to have one that is close to impossible to bring along is p!ss poor game design. Furthermore, to not own up to said design flaw by being silent and ignoring the issue for TWO ENTIRE YEARS makes me wonder what kind of people are in charge of balance and class design. EIGHT years I've played this game, and the inability to balance classes REMOTELY fair after this amount of time (both against eachother and with eachother) is, as I stated on the first page, making me lose trust in Blizzard's (the employees of today anyway) ability to progress this game in the way that the "original team" would have done, or wanted to do. With all the catering to requests of convenience (the things that make us float around in orgrimmar or stormwind every time we don't raid/pvp/dungeon run) they have all but ripped the soul out of the game - and before anyone thinks that I'll get started on that particular subject, Blizzard themselves have obviously realized this by removing the guild perk "have group, will travel" in MoP and adding loads of things to do out in the world to keep us busy. The only thing that I fear with them putting so much emphasis on trying to do this and bring the game back to it's roots, is that it will end up being at the dire cost of what little class balance is still ingame. If I was in charge of the WoW department, I would make DAMN SURE that all of the guys in charge of balance HAD to play one of each spec in order for them to be able to see things from a player's point of view. If this was the case, then we wouldn't have stupid crap mechanics such as the searing totem in the game. Instead of this model, it feels as if they only cater to the most represented classes, and give those classes most of the utility - almost as if they are thinking "well, if <class/spec> is underrepresented, then it's obviously not as necessary. Let's not waste too much time on it or what it's players have to say". This is what I whole-heartedly think will be the downfall of this game, not that some "WoW killer" comes along. I'm sitting here hoping that something good/intelligent will show up in a beta build on mmo-champion, but If nothing does, I am honestly unsure wether or not I will continue. I have zero trust in Ghostcrawler's judgement; as he changes his mind as often as he makes posts, never REALLY owns up to any mistakes, and his comment that "number tuning is among the last things we do, but we try to keep the numbers sane enough for people to give feedback" - is garbage. From what I've seen and heard from the MoP beta, Enhancement has lost so much power to the point that it's useless - and why would he want our wolves to be guardians? Elemental already has a guardian wich doesn't work (just as the wolves don't work in the beta currently), and now WE are going to get the same deal? One of the classes/specs that has the least utility will now have less of it (bash/taunt). He has no idea what he's doing when it comes to Enhancement. He has no idea what our issues are, and all of the MoP beta implementations (save for Ascendance..maybe) are what I dare call solid proof of this. I consider myself to be sane when it comes to knowing what to ask for, and I swear to all of you that I could solve the Enhance issue with the help of 2 other experienced players, a pen, and half a piece of paper. Neither of wich seems to exist over at the developer HQ. |

Full applaud to Masztaar... If i could write a post with my thoughts... it would sound exactly like that....What i would like to add though is that although shammies seem balanced in lower lvl's it's sooo far from it when getting to high end raiding... and i don't believe anyone has a right to make comments like " it's all ok " till they have done 8 /8 HC... only then do i believe, will they fully understand the seriousness of the situation...
