fter 5 years of wiping, Reign is finally going to hang up its raiding hat, dodder off to a corner, and waste our collective time saying how much better things were in the olden days, as we polish our delightful rose-tinted glasses to perfection.

It has been a pleasure raiding on QT. I cannot thank the community and the realm population enough. A guild's relationship with its server is a two way street. I like to think we conducted ourselves well, and that the guild culture treated everyone with respect without any elitism or arrogance. In return, you all were hugely supportive and kind to us. I cannot count the number of times random people have either congratulated us or wished us luck in something. It's very touching and sweet, and always made us all feel hugely proud of calling this server home.

As an aside, one of the factors for me personally quitting has been the direction wow is going in, with all the 25 man guilds being squeezed to either switch to 10 man, or concentrate in the top 100. The content in these last two tiers is so astoundingly trivial on 10 man that 25 man raiding is akin to raiding ICC or DS without the nerf debuff; something that's worth doing for bragging rights, but with zero recognition or tangible reward from Blizzard.

I realise that all the 10 man guilds try very hard, and do very well, and obviously will claim this is a case of sour grapes. I'd encourage anyone who holds to that view to look over the general forums, and try to find a single post from someone with experience in both who'd claim that 10 man raiding is even in the same league as 25 man. I don't blame anyone for focussing on 10 man raiding, it is by far the more rational and sensible thing to do. Why struggle pointlessly for no reward?

For us, we raided 25 man out of habit. We're all part of a dying breed that believes in the epicness and organised chaos of getting 25 people to move in the same direction. We're dinosaurs, much as the people who miss 40 man raids are dinosaurs. There's no space for us in this new world.

That aside, I'm happy to say that we're not quitting due to any drama, nor lack of anything. At this point many of us are simply burnt out, and rather than go the way of many other guilds and slowly degenerate and implode with drama, we're calling it at a high note, just as we've cleared all current content.

The guild itself will not disband (mostly because it seems a shame to waste a million gold and a level 25 guild), but also to give all of us who still want to show up now and then a place to reminisce and talk about the glory days. My heart still races when I remember things like our first Muru kill, our first Lich King hard mode kill, or even Ragnaros hard mode. All of these kills were so hard won, with every 'guild crusher' boss always taking its toll and resulting in people burning out. I'm proud to say that we kept our standards and kept recruiting, and those of us who emerged at the other end of these bosses felt a strong bond with each other. You cannot help but feel like part of a family when you go through such a traumatising experience together.

I will miss my fellow guildmates. They are solely the reason I have for raiding. I have never cared for skills or what class is buffed or nerfed. For me, raiding was a social activity. Uniting with 24 other people for a common cause, striving and suffering together, it is the sheer epic scope of the endeavour that did it for me.

Reign was formed just over 5 years ago. It rose from the ashes of Grace, pulling in all the competent players from that Vanilla guild. 6 months later it merged with Eccl 318. Of those original members, only a handful remain (Shaldrion and me from the original founding, Torock and Nemerith from Eccl). Shaldrion has the singular honour of raiding without a long break (I had to stop for 3 months when I had a baby.) For all those who raided with us over the years, I will remember most of you very lovingly and fondly. Of those who left us somewhere along this wonderful journey, I still miss a few to this day. Vesus, Tamerlane, Orofar, and others, you made my burden lighter, and having you as officers made my job all the more tolerable. For the current officers and tacticians, Minus, Dariuszz, Shaquiille, Yra, and Asurya, you kept me sane at times when I most needed, but also sometimes drove me insane, all of which made us bond all the harder I think.

For all the members who have stuck it out through the years, you capture the heart and soul of this guild. I have always striven to ensure that the guild never becomes a cult of personality; that no single player matters. The essence of the guild lay in its totality, and is it that that we'll all (both quitters and those who choose to continue) miss most sorely.

Enjoyed my short time with you and getting realm firsts and such was a pleasant end to WOTLK for myself.

It's sad to see the most respected and best PvE guild on the realm take such a huge hit, Blizzard are really making a huge amount of mistakes and so give people no reason or satisfaction to play competitive PvP content and now as it seems 25-man raiding content.
They think they know best but they just model the game around their own personal gameplay I'm sure, basing and expecting everyones opinion to share their own.

They have been told thousands of times by people that just want to be rewarded for playing what they enjoy, but they simply don't go out of their way to ensure the players' feel like this, which is the sole reason why this game consists/consisted of so many passionate gamers.

Another cataclysm for Quel'thalas.

I do have to say I respect your choice and I completely understand stopping at a high note and being remembered like that rather then bleeding out.

How sad :( reign was always a guild I looked up to since my starting days as a raider, again Quel'thalas has lost not only one of its most Famous guilds and one of the Greatest on the server. I remeber when i use to see Motion v Reign to see who won for realm firsts it was always a excitting time for me to see a guild achive great things over the internet. So on that I want to congratulate on what great succuss the guild has done. :)
