How do you deal with ninja pullers/impatient dps?
|
|
ive been tanking some hcs using LFG tool recently and have noticed a massive bout of ninja pullers, normally i would go with a guild group but im currently on holiday and guild isnt avilable all the time :D
normally i just yell at them but that doesnt seem to work anymore. any tips on how to deal with these types of people? |

Just let them die, then start tanking.
It's not your job to watch over the kids :) |

If they pull that's an indication of me guessing the group's capabilites wrong and being slow,so instead of moaning ,qqing, whatever, I pull faster and more mobs. This way me and the others will enjoy the instance more and finish faster.

If that's a problem for a tank, I mean if he is too slow to pick up aggro or there are too many mobs which needs to be interrupted, or a healer, who can't heal through large packs without a break, then those dps should be asked politely or warned to not do that again.
But honestly, if everyone in the group is decent, this shouldn't be a problem. I for example like fast runs, thus if I see a tank who is capable of holding aggro but is too slow, I pull. And when I tank and see dps pulling, I do my job and get aggro. I think of this more of a challenge - to quickly adapt into current situation. |

Hey Lycas, if I think they're trolling the healer and I, that's when I bust out some dance moves and get my funk on.
I'll watch out for my healer always, sometimes you have to break a few eggs to make an omelette ;) If you're queuing and want some company /w me anytime. |

ta for the tips!

Majority of the time the healer is undergeared and have to wait for them to drink every 2-3 pulls, thats when most of the dps go crazy because they cant wait for 30 seconds for healer to regain mana. I do like the fast runs, but with lfg it can vary alot with the groups skill.
Shall i reroll nelf? :D |

You're doing this in 5man heroics which you overgear hard.If the healer stops for a quick manadrink (which also shouldnt take 30 secs lol),you can continue pulling ,with cds up. |

Never really had an issue with dps pulling to quickly.
Ninja pulls on packs that doesnt need killing are very annoying but generally as a tank you simply chain pull as fast as you can. You know if dps are whining that you are a bad tank, their probably right, dont remember a single scenario where i had a dps complain that i was pulling to slow or was a bad tank and ive tanked since classic. |

Hey,
My response to overeager dps would depend on a few things. Yesterday I ran with a hunter. He had good gear( some Heroic Ds pieces) and his dps was way higher than the rest of the party. I ran about 4 Heroics with him. He Kept ninjapulling stuff yet I didn't ask him to stop. He was doing his part in the dungeon. If I get Dps that Pull stuff they obviously cannot dps down within the expected time I will ask them to let me do my job. If they refuse then I would either leave the dungeon or I would let him / her take a few hits to the face. This normally results in them getting with the program. |
... sometimes you have to break a few eggs to make an omelette ;) Share your 'omelette without eggs' recipe with us, also which NPC did you learn it from ? ;) |

hmm should of made my first post a bit more informative i apologise, the majority of my characters are tanks, not nessciarily this one will be tanking at that given situation. |

Tell them to knock it off. If they still do it, I tell the healer to please stop healing them, so they die on the next pull. They usually stop after that.

Try to get them killed anyway possible, ESPECIALLY if they are cocky idiots.
Ie; Not so long ago had a dk with half pvp gear and bad pve gear... Spamming howling blast the minute I got near the mobs, not interrupting just tunnel vision on the non-marked target.... (a cliche) and well we got to Peroth'arn and well he got caught instantly lol (Unholy pres.. EH Y U GET CAUGHT) and well when I saw it was him I waited that one second longer for that hit to kill him and then taunt... Felt so good. Then sprouted about me being a bad tank and that his dps was godly yet he forgot he gets a 100% crit buff... Easily shut him up after stating that. |

Just reminded me of something around when WotLK was in play.
I was on a hunter and (in the good old days of PuGs) we got bored and went to do some Outland stuff or something. Long story short, a mage there was insanely impaitent. So, after the tank politely asked them to stop pulling. I simply said "you know, if you die after you keep pulling, it really is going to be your fault". The healer did agree and well... long story short, the nice mage pulled again, there was a newbie warlock I think (or some ranged DPS) and they automatically saw a mob and thought to attack, so the healer was frantically healing and picked up aggro and in the blink of an eye, I misdirect onto the mage; tank and healer come to the rescue at the last minute and we get "guys you're meant to make sure I don't die!". Tank, myself and the healer explained why it's not a good idea to to do the tank's pulling for him. So basically: hope you get a nice healer who understands that it's a good idea to let ninja pullers die after being warned. |

Simple solution is still the best and most effective, ninja pull before they do. But keep an eye on the healer's mana.
Once they see you are a fast pulling tank they don't feel the need to ninja pull any more. |
|
dps who ninja pulls simply dies, 95 % takes the hint after the first time, the last 5 % keeps doing it, and keeps dying, much to my and the healer's amusement, i, as the tank sets the pace, simple as that, if you're a ignorant !@#$ who can't wait, roll a tank yourself
