Well there are numerous threads on the forums with people celebrating that a rare mount has finally dropped for them, or the unfortunate ones who still have not seen the mount they covert so much after hundreds of runs...but how lucky or indeed unlucky are they?

Now i believe Blizzard never officially reveals the drop rates, but a quick internet search provides these drop rates for some of those rare mounts. (Of course these figures might be wrong, but they give you an idea)

Swift White Hawkstrider (Magister's Terrace): 2%
Ashes of Al'ar (Tempest Keep): 1%
Raven Lord (Sethekk Halls): 0.8%
Fiery Warhorse (Karazhan): 0.7%
Deathcharger (Stratholme): 0.1%

From that it is possible to calculate the average number of runs you would need to do to see that mount drop (i.e. 50% of people should have seen it drop at least once after this number of runs)

Swift White Hawkstrider (Magister's Terrace): 35 runs
Ashes of Al'ar (Tempest Keep): 69 runs
Raven Lord (Sethekk Halls): 87 runs
Fiery Warhorse (Karazhan): 99 runs
Deathcharger (Stratholme): 693 runs (Which is running it every day for nearly 2 years)

If you want to increase your chance of it dropping at least once up to 99%.

Swift White Hawkstrider (Magister's Terrace): 228 runs
Ashes of Al'ar (Tempest Keep): 459 runs
Raven Lord (Sethekk Halls): 574 runs
Fiery Warhorse (Karazhan): 656 runs
Deathcharger (Stratholme): 4603 runs (Which is running it every day for over 12 years)

Of course that is just the chance that it drops, if you are running in a group, you still need to win the roll.

Now depending on how successful you have been, that information will either make you appreciate just how lucky you were, or how unlucky you are...or simply the massive task you have set yourself.

You're using the old drop chance of deathcharger. It was changed at some point. According to wowhead it's 0.8%, calculated from 77134 Rivendare kills, so it should be fairly accurate :)

rivendares edeathcharger is 1% drop chance, it was changed back in 3.X patch, where if u had exhalted with argent dawn it went from 0.1%-1.0%, then blizz just removed the reputation requirement and made it a flat 1% (wowhead will show lower than 1% as it is taking into account all the ppl that reported getting it pre "buff" so the average is lower than its actual drop chance).

as for me:

raven lord: 25 never dropped yet, given up

hawkstrider: 48 not dropped, given up

attumen: 16 not seen, do it infrequently

deathchargers reins: done over 200 times, seen once, lost the roll, never seen it since, given up with it

ashes of al'ar: hard to say, i know i have kilked KT more than 300 times over the years and i only just got it drop in the past couple of months, so i can tick this one off the list.

Swift White Hawkstrider (Magister's Terrace): 112 runs.

Ashes of Al'ar (Tempest Keep): 22 runs.

Raven Lord (Sethekk Halls): 124 runs. (Got it on my druid first HC run on epic flying quest chain at level 70)

Fiery Warhorse (Karazhan): 24 runs (Not dropped yet).

Deathcharger (Stratholme): Never attempted this ugly mount.

Wowhead drop rate is on deathcharger is counting since cata only, as it's recording drops from lord Aurius Rivendare, not the original Rivendare with the lower dropchance.

It was only lower pre-wotlk, in which the droprate was raised to its current numbers.

Been farming Kara for 3 years, not dropped once. And done it every week :(

are you from past ?
deathcharger has 1% and you can run stratholme in less than five min 5x per hour...
+ with mounts shared in panda you can run raid instance with whole acc...

all i can say is im happy about acount wide mounts

dk has blue proto, onyxia and ashes
mage has kara mount

Fiery Warhorse (Karazhan): Currently on 142 - STILL FARMING -
Deathcharger (Stratholme): 424 runs (Got it very recently)
Drake (Onyxia): 70 runs - STILL FARMING -
Azure Drake (Malygos): 59 runs (Saw it drop on my 60th run aswell)
Sea Turtle (Fishing): 27. 227 casts
Swift Razzashi Raptor: (Zul'Gurub NEW): 123 runs (Saw it drop once at 115th run. Didnt win)
Swift Zullian Panther: (Zul'Gurub NEW): 123 runs (Saw it drop once at my 87th run. Didnt win)

i have 151 mounts on this char. got most of the rare drop mounts that can be solo/duo farmed but some still elude me , like Deathcharger [and i shudder at remembering how many runs i did in BC/WOTLK for this mount , but then again i have it on my dk so come mop i'm set ] and the 2 ZG mounts which i never saw drop and of course onyxia and the drake from Maly 25.
I can't really say how many times i killed each of the bosses from which i got the mounts but some of them took over 200 runs .For example i've been killing Anzu solo since late BC [ drood tank powah :P ] and only got him a few months ago.
Then again RNG is RNG so the number of runs a person does don't really matter.

Still trying for ashes of alar and karazhan mount. Countless runs in Kara and done weekly for year(s) now. Yet no sign of the horse, and never saw it during tbc.

Still thinking that raggy is the biggest troll. Even newer version refuses to drop the mace, and old one the eye... -.-

Just gotta keep trying :)

I might help you make the farm easier the old 25 man only mount also drops on 10 look at my achievments i never done eoe 25 but i have azure wich dropped on a 10 solo run, 10 can be soloed/dued with ease.

as for my drops:
Rivendare - dropped run 301.
Fiery warhorse - still farming over 100 runs (including alts)
Hawkstrider - dropped run 36. (it also dropped on run 35 wich my friend won)
Ravenlord - dropped run 70.
Ashes - dropped run 4.
Blue Proto drake - run 60.
Blue drake - still farming 22 runs.
Azure drake - dropped run 20.
Grand Black War mammoth - still farming 123 runs.
Onyxian - stil farming 30 runs.
New ZG mounts - not been actively farming those.
SC mount - dropped on run 94.
VP mount - dropped on run 44.
Cata raid drops - ill be adding those to my round of farming in mop.

Green proto - think about egg 40 orso (when they took 7 days to hatch)
White polar - 70 daylies.
Tolvir mount - over 300 solves it took.
Grey camel - 8th statue.
Sea Turtle - dont know how many cast to many anyway i hate fishing lol.

Rivendare - 1400 runs (pre-buff, got it there)
Fiery warhorse - ~4 years running it on 8 alts, got it 1st run on hunter
Hawkstrider - ~50ish?
Ravenlord - 70ish
Ashes - dropped run 64.
Blue Proto drake - run 30.
Blue drake - Don't have and don't really bother too much with maly
Azure drake - Don't have ^
Grand Black War mammoth - 100+ runs, lost it 8 times in wotlk /o/
Onyxian - on 280 kills among alts, no drop yet
New ZG mounts - not been actively farming those.
SC mount - dropped on 50ish run
VP mount - dropped on 40ish run on alt
Alysrazor - 100 kills among alts 3manning it, no drop
