Hey!

I can decide what specc to go. I've been healing in Holy most of lvl 85. But if i look at hardcore raiding guilds... their priests are either Shadow or Disc, why is nobody Holy? What makes Disc better than Holy?

Depends if you're talking about 10 or 25 man raids. I would imagine there are less holy priests in 10 man than its 25 man counterpart.

However your observation could be a mere coincidence, of course.

Disc's barrier, perhaps.
Coupled with Holy's mana issues, it would be a lot worse in 10 man as there is a chance that there's no Shaman present to provide MTT.

disc is better due to itemization

bis gear favours disc over holy

But what specc should i use in raids? Does it depend? if it's 10man it's disc and if it's 25man holy is best, or....?

U got any suggestions?

I just tried Disc out in LFR, and the only thing i can say is that Holy is LOADS better than Disc in raids.....

Sure Holy has some mana issues, but i can live with that...

Its not going to matter in the LFR, you could heal just fine as shadow in LFR.

But tell me again HOW Disc is better than Holy in raid healing n HPS...?

I never said one was better than the other, just that disc shines more in 10s. Honestly just play what you enjoy.

Both speccs are fine in raiding now - not sure what made you think disc is more sought by end game guilds. Dragon soul doesn't even favor barrier heavily and the holy divine hymn is a doing a fine job. Maybe holy wasn't that wanted in firelands, but right now, it's fine. Just take a look at world of logs ranks and you'll see holy performs fine - and is capable of doing more hps than disc most of the times.

So if you enjoy holy, there is absolutely no reason for you to respecc.

I'm raiding 10 man heroic version so my opinion is going to be in that point of view.

As raw healing output holy is way ahead,but overall hps is around the same with absorbs and stuff.Plus, Disc has some unique utility cooldowns such as Barrier,Pain Supression or those 40k shields you can throw in before a huge hit.

Disc can specialise in both raid healing and tank healing.Atonement spec with AA is a really good burst healing spec for raid healing, or without Atonement you can be a very good tank healer or both of it like me.

Holy is really good at 25 man I heard, but on 10 man considering the fights are done with 2 healers mostly (spine is the exception here) guilds rather have a disc priest instead holy.

In LFR, as I said Holy is good at 25 man version so it's normal that you do a lot of healing there.

But i still don't get why the priests in for example Dream Paragon is Disc and not Holy...

That's what i wanted an answer for, mostly.

If any of you know, ofc.

Can be personal preference ? Or just the cooldowns I mentioned above,it's really helpful during progress.

The race in the current content is over for 2 months - so it doesn't matter in the slightest what speccs that guild's priests have now. They are not currently specced for progress. Maybe they are pvp-ing or god knows what. Surely not progress. Heck, I'm tempted to get a holy specc just to try it out now, but progress is over for me, and I did it as disc because that's what I prefer, I dont raid that hardcore to specc "the best specc".

I agree with the posters above, I think disc is more versatile and can be better in 10 mans. Holy is still mainly an aoe healer, and their real power is shown better in 25 mans. Still, it depends a bot on setup - I'd say in a 10 man if you got for ex a resto druid, you might prefer a disc priest instead of a holy one. The tank healing argument is pretty weak in dragon soul - theres not much tank healing needed. The barrier argument isn't as strong as it was in firelands or t11.

Truth be told, I dunno why would you look at dream paragon specifically. If you want some indication of what hps can each specc pull, look at world of logs ranks. I'm no hardcore raider, but I did play both speccs and I dont think any of them is especially weak in the current tier.

Well I like Holy AoE healing, in Dragon Soul there is quite a lot AoE damage.. So yeah..
I dont think I disc is better..

honestly, try disc before disc get poh, renew and dhymn and maybe gh replaced!!!!!!!!

Protip:

1. Download Skada and use it instead of Recount.
2. Queue for LFR.
3. After a boss fight check 'Absorbs and healing' rather than just 'Healing'.
