How do you blood DKs play in BGs?
|
Firstly, I'm not exactly asking for strategies against specific classes, I'm just mentioning what happens with me.
Okay, I know my gear isn't enchanted/gemmed right but I'm not level 85 and I can easily pull my own with DPS in 5 mans so I figured I'm not doing anything that's *that* bad. You hear all the stories of blood DKs being able to do great in BGs and for the most part I do feel somewhat invincible, which is great. Most melee can't take me (apart from rogues but that's not important). Ranged is hit or miss. And depending on how many other people are attacking, I can get burned down quickly (which is fine, doesn't bother me at all). I know blood is a tanking spec but I can barely kill anything unless I have something else with me. The only things I can kill somewhat easily, are mages since they always pop iceblock and I just wait and then kill them. And with hunters it's hit or miss, they either manage to keep me at bay and eventually their pet dies/they recall it so I can't DS anything. So is blood *meant* to be killing things or just there to provide a distraction? I think it's the former since I have seen BG results with DKs that are blood doing a good few KBs so, if anyone can give me advice on how to actually kill things, that'd be great. For the most part I play exactly like I do when tanking (timing DS is a bit harder). Death Strike for shield/heal, heart strike when I can't get a DS off, same thing with rune strike (death coil them if they're at ranged). Then throw down chains of ice to slow them. Other than that, it's just about hitting cooldowns as needed. I'm guesing it'll be a bit better with neocrotic strike to stop healers from healing everything but even 1on1, I still feel like I should be doing a bit more damage than I am. |

sod the flags just go kill stuff, pewpew deathstrike
seriously tho, u are not a "true" dpser so do not press necrotic strike... if theres a healer nearby u become almost useless anyway NS doesnt give enough absorb to offset deathstrike damage. in those less than 85 BGs its best to be max level for that group (84) once u hit that ull become a walking wrecking ball for just about any other class... another thing is spec... if u want to be a hurtful blood dk u need to use the more aggressive build like mine but if ur holding flags and such u use a more defensive blood build... anyway resilience is a pretty heavy factor in the "immortal" blood dk since obviously taking 45% less damage while healing normally makes u probably one of the most irritating things someone can come across while doing their Bgs |

I just come from 1:1 with my rogue and cata geared blood dk. One solid advice against rogues. Do not blow all your survival Cds at start and try to burst them down. They'll vanish, heal up, CC you whole time your ghoul is up, and then dance you to death.
And you shouldnt waste runes on rogue with evasion up. :) 9.90 easiest honor my rogue ever got was today against this dk. Whole point I am amking here is that tank spec does not make you strong by default, even against other melee. :) |

in blood i have more macros than UH or frost tbh

Most of the damage is from lucky DS crits from Improved Death Strike, which are frankly: Insane.
So DS, and DS often. Chain together CD's whilst doing so, and expect some amazing damage if you get lucky. NS should be used vs. healers when DRW is up. It may do 50% the damage, but it directly doubles the stacks of NS you apply. |

I don't dabble in battlegrounds much, but I've found playing a distraction role to be great fun- grabbing a load of hordies attention away from a point, staying alive for as long as possible (Best record so far in a 1 vs 5 situation for me is currently around 5 minuites) and using death grips/slows on people who attempt to ignore me.
Obviously before the vengeance nerf I could use this tactic to kill them all as well, but even now it still has its use in base defending/luring the enemy away. I mean, if two healers and three dps are busy wasting their time on me, they aren't busy capping the empty base are they? |
This is so pathetic. The fact you feel anywhere near invincible is an embarrassment. Blood Dk design is absolute cancer for PvP and they should focus on a limited absorb shield (H-Pala mastery or something).. not stupid PvP breaking self-healing. Blizzard have well and truly dropped the ball if you feel anywhere near invincible in PvP. Tanks and tanks specs should be in control of their survivability, not their own constant healing. That conversion crap will only make it worse in MoP. Faceroll spec. Get out of BGs. |
there is a limit, its equal to ur healthbar |

Ferale Posted: Heartbroken teen angst Someone ate their MAD-o's when they woke up. Here is a tip for you - stop wearing the 372 PvP gear (get some new stuff - its not hard you can even PvE for it for gods sake) and socket your un-socketed items. Oh and enchant them too. This may help you to stop being so mad. You may also want to google a guide to kiting and/or beating tank classes in PvP as a melee. I spend most of the time in my frost spec and I can actually beat tankspecs in PvP sometimes! The reason being is that I dont throw my keyboard across the room if I start losing. Suck it up and try again. |
