as the title states i am having problems in DS with dmg taken. i seem to be taking way more dmg than non warrior tanks and i am not sure if it's my gear or anything else but it's getting pretty anoying. today i was doing warmaster and although the dk tank had 2 adds on him, i seemed to be taking significantly more dmg although i had 1 add. any advice other than using cds (using them quite often) ?

possibly due to being 8% short of CTC in your current gear.
Unless the socket bonus is +20 mastery or better, gem purely for mastery.
Download Raid Defense Stats from Curse to see your raid buffed stats and the effect of any gem changes on your stats.
Also make sure you have Demo shout up constantly on the mobs and use your shield block off cooldown - a lot of tanks have shield block macroed with shield slam to ensure it has a 30% uptime.

you are comparing yourself (as a warrior) to DK tank who has mastery what absorb physical damage what affect on damage taken.

also that lacking CTC cap on your side affect on your damage taken as mentioned.

if you have trinket from valor vendor (mastery trinket and on use gives lots of dodge) try to use it after your shield block effect expires to make sure you are at/over/close to CTC cap long period time as possible when you are tanking.

Seem to be taking or actually taking - the question is wondering if this is fact or your perception of what's going on. If so, check your recount/skada meter and see how many "full" hits you're taking in comparison to the DK.

As someone above says, it could be CTC. Either that or when moving around the DK is strafing and not turning his back on the mobs, and not losing his avoidance - whereas you may well be. You can block a mob in a 180 degree arc - so you can move by strafing and still block. If you turn your back and run, you'll lose your mitigation.

Are you also minimising your incoming damage? Demo shout, disarm, stuns, etc? Disarming mobs can make a significant difference to your damage taken, as can concussion blow (which these are probably immune, but just saying).

A good tank will tank the mobs and stay alive, an excellent tank will tank the mobs, stay alive and also reduce their incoming damage thus conserving healer mana.
