And what spec

Its your personal choice tbh, I'd make one of each class and play them for a bit see if they appeal to you. Paladin is a good all rounder as you can be a tank, dps or healer, which gives you that freedom to change when things get dull.
Warlocks are pure DPS, but very fun to play (in my opinion), and are great for solo leveling. Demonology is amazing for group quests as you'll get a felguard as a pet, which makes a good tank. Affliction is also a nice leveling spec as there is no downtime (regaining health and mana) and of course you can dot multiple mobs for quickness. Give them both a bash. |

If you are a beginner then go Paladin. Warlocks aren't very suitable for first time players.
You can change your spec depended what you want to for paladin, so it's up to you. |

Ultimately you should play what you enjoy most. If you are new to the game and for pure effiency and versatility paladins every time though. Pure dps classes are fillers in wow. As a paladin you can both tank or heal yourself through dungeons to 85 for example(you get very fast queues) You can also try out which role you like the most, while you stuck as ranged dps as a warlock.
If you enjoy mediocricy in groups warlocks are nice. since you are incapable of performing any critical task and good dps is irrelevant until you reach endgame progression raiding, you rarely will get any criticism/abuse no matter how poorly you play. |

I've played both warlock and paladin, and I think warlock is more fun. That's why this one I'm levelling now is my second!
I don't think warlock is harder to play than paladin, but maybe harder to play well. It's certainly more complicated. You have more buttons to press, and you have to make decisions about what to do next rather than following a strict spell rotation. It might take more practice to get good at it. Personally, I don't think there's much to choose between demonology warlock or protection paladin as far as survivability when questing is concerned. The pala can take a lot of damage and stay standing, but the lock's felguard minion can also take a lot of damage. Soloing group quests is very viable with either class. Ultimately, it's down to you and what you enjoy. Try both for a while and see which you like most. And I wouldn't be put off by people saying locks aren't suitable for beginners. If you like it, you can learn it. It just might take a bit longer to get to grips with than a simpler class. |

Best thing to do, if you have the time, is to try both and see how you feel.
I tried playing a paladin but found it very boring, though they beat the crap out of casual rogues. |

Agree with Shorlock, paladins are just too boring imo - leveled one as ret and was ready to quit by the time I was 80. However, they are much more forgiving to the beginner, so it's hard to give any sort of objective answer.
