Regarding Hit, Expertise and Reforging.

I know it's not really a big deal at current item level, but remember beginning of cataclysm, where you had to reforge every single item to hit and expertise to get 17% spell hit or 8% hit/26 expertise(I know hunters had it easier, but that's not why I am here)?
Reforging was supposed to gave us chance to customize our stats or gain certain caps instead of hoping for months for that bis item to drop. However, when you reforge every single piece of your equipment to hit and expertise, there is no room for customization and reforging seems pointless. I am afraid the same thing will occur at the start of MoP, which will totally limit our secondary stats when it comes to capping 17% spell hit again. Would it not be better to simply make hit/expertise caps half as hard to reach, but make them have more significance(increase the miss chance before you are capped for example)? |

Would it not be better to simply make hit/expertise caps half as hard to reach, but make them have more significance(increase the miss chance before you are capped for example)? That is in no way 'fun' or 'interesting', and would just mean people would reforge every single item to hit and expertise to get 17% spell hit or 8% hit/26 expertiseas fast as humanly possible. Some stats just aren't "interesting", and very little can be done to make them interesting. Similarly, having a whopping total of 3 stats (after the relatively mandatory hit/expertise caps) doesn't help, since there will either be a best option ("Reforge everything to crit. The otehr two don't matter") or it will make such a minuscule difference to your DPS, that it doesn't matter, and is arguably not fun. If you want stats to be 'fun' and actually be something that fits your playstyle, you have to be able to balance so that any extremes and everything in between are perfectly(ish) balanced. Do you really want to start worrying if all these perfect talents and rotations you worked for ages on are thrown into whack because some random DK found that he could stack as much haste as he could and do 20k more DPS than he should? |

My point is, reforging was supposed to be a fun customization tool, but its only use is getting hit/exp capped.
Of course, there are certain stat priorities afte your are capped and you will in general stick to them, but those might change depending on fights(spine and madness for example) and when an expansion hits, you would want every possible bit of stats available as they will be really low. |
