WoW's nerdy reputation

is this post about friends who look down upon you or random people you see once in a while? cause if it are your friends you can't really call them friends
(atleast my friends dont give a !@#$ what i do in my spare time as i also do other things then play games) if its about people you meet once in a while no one gives a sh*t and if they act so weird cause you play wow ask them what they do in their spare time if they say (going to clubs, facebook,tv,etc) its pretty easy to say that wow is better as it is cheaper then going out and less nerdy then posting dull comments or pressing ''i like'' on useless things on facebook if you honestly care so much what others think just dont talk to them or say i play computer games |

My friends take the piss out of me for playing this game, and the reason they do is because they are my friends and we usually rip on each other for one thing or another. That is the great thing about true friends, we don't have to worry if taking the piss out of each other will hurt each others feelings, because it doesn't, I just get my own back in some way shape or form.
At the end of the day this is a nerdy game, there is no two ways about it, it just comes down to whether you care if it is a nerdy game or not. and less nerdy then posting dull comments or pressing ''i like'' on useless things on facebook Can't agree with you here, social networking is certainly not as nerdy as fighting dragons and other magical creatures in a make believe world. |

I dont tell people that I play mmorpg, unless they ask me or I notice that they are interessed in it. My friends and family know that I play World of Warcraft.
I have been told by some that playing this game is for geeks or social outcasts. Some of my mates tend to joke about it, buts just a joke, I do the same about their favourite sitcoms. Strangers have never asked me this, because they do not know that I play, its not like I am shouting that I am a WoW player. People always tend to try and fit things in a social box: If you watch anime: Your a weeabo. If you read comic books: Your nerd. If you listen to goth music: You probaly worship lucifer. Just ignore them, if someone doesnt like what your hobby is and insults you for it, then this person is no friend of yours and what strangers say should not matter. |

My collegues know it, they say I compensate the nerdiness of wow with my motorcycle (ducati 1098). However: !@#$ that, I can do what I want. You work hard, you do with your spare time whatever you want! :D

I like people calling me a "nerd" or a "geek" cause thats exactly what i am. But i have a passion for something and i play the game cause i enjoy it. People are all like "Dude, WoW is so un-social" but infact WoW is probably the biggest social experience ive had in my lifetime. For example, raiding with a 10/25 guild group is the same thing as going out with 10/25 IRL mates a friday night. Only difference is you dont see eachothers faces ofcourse but you interact with them. Also, WoW and other games has strengthed up my vocalbulary. I have had so easy for english (im Swedish) because of the sheer fact that i play WoW. Just spitting out my opinions. Bless y'all. |

Exactly 99.6% of me would rather be a nerd than a geek.
The other 0.4% wishes i had a girlfriend. |

Pretty much played WoW since I started high school and had a very limited group of friends because I was known for just playing WoW. Success.

I've played WoW for 6 years now and i've always been told it's a "nerdy" game. I was always embarrassed to tell people I play WoW, party because I'm female and absolutely none of my female friends are interested in games at all but also because I know how people are going to react when I tell them I play. It's always "woah you play WoW? Neeeeeerd" :L ALWAYS.
Unless it's a guy that plays too of course, in that case i'm stuck talking to them about WoW the whole night... which BY THE WAY is not always fun. ;_; But anyways! People will more than likely think WoW is nerdy whether or not it is, I personally think the roleplaying part is a little more nerdy, not meaning to offend anyone of course! |

Here is a good example about how much I care about what people think of me playing WOW:

I don't understand why you care what people (whom you do not know) think of you. If it's your friends who start ripping you for playing WoW and it's not harmless fun, then you have terrible "friends" and you should maim them.

I got some disapointing looks when i told the clinic where i was for my wow addiction that i was playing again.

Although, sometimes it works in reverse. It's amazing who you can find who also plays MMOs. Not necessarily WoW, just MMOs in general. Or who's really into TF2 in their afternoon time. |

I just don't tell people I play WoW. In fact, the only reason my friends know I play is because an old WoW friend posted stuff on my facebook wall, and assumed we were going out... Of course, explaining the story didn't actually stop their theories for a few months...
My friends have never really joked about me playing WoW all too much, but I guess it's not very effective when they're a bunch manga fans, have their own Minecraft server, discuss zombie survival, and a few of them have read AND LOVED the Twillight series. :P |
My friends have never really joked about me playing WoW all too much, but I guess it's not very effective when they're a bunch manga fans, have their own Minecraft server, discuss zombie survival, and a few of them have read AND LOVED the Twillight series. :P ouch...... Anyways, people in my area don't mind because: A: They play it themselves, B: They play other MMORPG's, C: They don't care, D: They don't like a punch in the face..... Ofcourse D is a joke, unless they really make my blood boil... |
... I thought that wasnt possible? A Myth? |

Well, I'm sure those people are addicted to something else.
Be it smoking, drinking, partying, drugs... or just another game or social networks etc Bottom line, everyone is addicted to something. Be happy you're a nerd, I am! |

i get more crap for being a Bjork fan than i do for playing WoW
