Which Tank For Heroic DS
|
Hey all,
I have recently come back to playing wow after a extended Christmas break, I have joined up with a few friends who are raiding DS and currently moving into HC. I have been asked to take my normal role of tanking, I have one of each tank and i am trying to decide which would be the most beneficial. We are currently running 10mans with this kind of setup: 2 priest healers, 1 pally healer, 1 mage, 1 balance druid(rotated with a rogue), 1-2hunters, 1 arms warrior and 1 DK tank The arms warrior was tanking but has now switched to dps as he prefers it. So I have a druid, DK, Warrior and paladin. while doing hardcore progression with the above which would be the better tank? Is there any tanks that really struggle in heroic mode? |

Well i can say for sure that protection warrior is awesome in DS. I have tanked 4/8 hc so far and i haven't had any problems so far.
In my opinion all tank classes are good atm. I have tanked together with all 3 other tank classes and all combinations worked out pretty well. My advice is: dont worry about class. Just play any tank class u want to, they all are about equally good. |
Well i can say for sure that protection warrior is awesome in DS. I have tanked 4/8 hc so far and i haven't had any problems so far. While I agree that he should play whatever he wants, Warriors are far from awesome in DS. The mix of unblockable physical and magical damage makes half the fights hell. Druids and DKs are at the top of the pack for DS heroic. |

DK's are the clear favourites in DS hc, especially when you hit Madness.
As you already have one in the raid team though, Druid is 2nd best. I play Warr tank and haven't really had any major issues, all 4 classes are viable. DKs and Druids just a little further ahead this patch. |

You might find a prot warrior to be very useful for spine heroic if you go with a kiting strategy. Other than that the prot warrior lacks antimagic cooldowns that help on other encounters. Not enough to prevent progress however, especially with the 20% buff.
Many encounters in dragonsoul are solo tanked or 2 healed on 10man hc, sometimes both. Since you have a deathknight who will tend to be superior on the solotanking front for those particular encounters you might want to consider a dps offspec. No rogue (really?!?!) means feral loot would be freeish helping you gear. Druid. Also make sure one of those priests prepares a shadow offspec. Or just pick whatever and the zonebuff will do the rest. |

I would actually go with druid. Druid does amazing dps even in tank gear in kitty form, which would be cool if you use 2 tanks for madness hc. Or even on spine, kitty dps is just out of the roof compared to other tanks.
I'd go with kitty, and if raid needs would use the arms warrior for spine. But eventually pick class you truly enjoy most. And if I were your RL, i'd let dk (or druid) solo tank most possibles. |
Well i can say for sure that protection warrior is awesome in DS. I have tanked 4/8 hc so far and i haven't had any problems so far. Warriors are the worst tank by a country mile in DS for reasons others have explained. The only fight they excel on is spine. DK > druid > pala > warrior for DS heroic. |

Thank you all,
My druid has been taggin to a few DS as dps and i have taken my paladin tanking to some (who hasnt been performing well). I think i will take the later advice of bearcat, it seems the most logical thanks for the replies |
