Guild thief

Hi guys,
I have a problem; An officer of mine had recruited a new healer, for my main raid group, and promoted him accordingly. I have quite a strong bond with my raid group and a good level of trust so thought nothing of this. My main raiders have access to one tab of the guild bank freely and that is for the stacks of fish required to make fests during raids. However this newcomer has right away went into my bank and taken out all the fish (wich on my server is worth more than 20k) there is of course a ticket but have you guys had and problems like this that have been reported and had any success retrieving stolen items ? Hopefully they were hacked, in which case you can ticket it (or in my experience Blizzard tend to notice it & mail the stuff back to me before I have even noticed).
If they weren't hacked though the usual response tends to be that they are not stealing if they take what you gave a person access too. It does sound a bit like you fell into a trap of being slightly too trusting, maybe review your bank access, a fish tab as example everyone could get access to 3 stacks per day as they would be unlikely to ever need more. I know it sucks but don't think of it as not trusting people, more like just protecting your guild against bad egg newcomers. |

Ah yeah unfortunately now Ive limited everyones access, Feel bad doing that to the people who have earned the trust.
The excuse i got from teh player was that ' a friend' was using the account while the actual player was on vacation. I dont hold out much hope of getting my fish back but i thought id see if there were any happy endings from this type of theft. thanks for the response Bishibosh |

If his character took the bits out he should be responable for making reperation for it, then he can take it up with his 'friend'.
Wasnt giving other people access to your account against the terms and conditions etc. I'm not wanting to come over all "forum police" or anything, but if you dont get a satisfactory responce from a gm or anything, whatelse are you gonna do about it? |

Well in case any of you were interested I recieved nothing in return. the player has since been kicked from my guild, and i have warned several of the guild masters from guilds he has attempted to join (petty i know but im annoyed)
I even went with the illegal access to his account through account sharing. GM said he would look into it Ive not had a response since. So all in all its just a betrayal of the trust i had in my raiders, and now everyone is punisjhed as nobody can access items without my or an officers permisson, |

Hehehe, ive been known to add people to a friends list just to check up on them, and inform 'new' guild masters precisely what their past misdemeaners where, so your not alone there mate! ;o) They wont be able to tell you what, if any action has been taken. But again if he's on your friends list you get an idea when he comes and goes, and if you dont see him for a while take it in a possative light. Pressumably officers of any level would be present at raids? I'm sure they would know what flasks to dig out of the GB for raid nights etc. So the only thing i'd alter is the bank tab permissions (which i think youve done anyway). Just be glad that it was just some fish that got stolen, and not 'real' expensive stuff like potions, and them nice shiny armours and stuff. *Edit - Just as an after thought, the 'notes facility' (rightclick on "friends" in 'O'/social page) allows you to add 'why' someone is in your friends list! Very handy, *wink wink*! |

Yeah Its one stack only for those guys now!
But thanks for the tip i never even thought about adding him to friends list!!! thats getting done as soon as i get home. /knee hugs (im a gnome) Yeah theres always an officer on but some of my raiders make the feasts for the raids so it was really just to save me or the officers (mainly me) from having to go to bank every time someone needed fish. thanks for the feedback and advice I am sure you will see me trolling these forums a bit more in te future, if not check teh diablo 3 forums! For the glory of gnomergan Bishibosh |

I have had that kind of "trouble", however, I do not give promotions straight away depending on if you are a raider/pvper or something else, everyone starts off with a type of initiate rank and it takes months and months for you to reach a rank in my guild which would give you access to really valuable items.
The people in my guild who have access to this last tab is my raidteam (10 man group) and one officer and I trust them all fully after these months and even years together. I have had "initiates" and "members" who have taken out as much as they can from the lower tabs and putting it up on the auction house after even though it is clearly written in the info that all items are for personal use and that nothing is to go up on the auction house. I write down everything that they have taken out, check the prises that they have put them up for, add the numbers up and after that I write them an in game letter explaining that the following items or the gold made from them are to be deposited back into the guildbank and for it to never occur again. They get to chose the worth of the lower items over the guild, the majority (almost all) have apologized and deposited back everything in the guildbank again, I give them another chance if they do that, if they don't they are of course removed from the guild. Also, sometimes you notice that they have put the items up with an alt, you notice that all the items and amounts are up on the auction house but the seller is a level 1 with a different name, I have sometimes written a letter to that alt, which must be quite surprising to see since I should not know who that alt belongs to, but that is the way I do it. My tip would be to keep the number of withdrawls per day low for a new member, and to not give such great access straight away to someone simply because he joined the raidteam, writing down the item names and the worth is a good way of getting the items back, however it takes a bit of time, but that is part of being a guild master in my opinion. |

Actually, I believe you probably have a case with the fact "a friend" did it...after all, account sharing isn't allowed, so that would be his account compromised.
Just get a time stamp of him saying his friend did it, send a ticket with the exact server time it was said, along with who it was said to (between both chars) the date (since tickets can take a couple days) and grass him up :) |

He had permision to take what he wanted from the guild bank tab and you gave him that permision. Did you at any time spell out that there is/was a limit on what they could take out daily/weekly? If you didnt then why do you say he did anything wrong he simply helped himself as you allowed.
Its about time you took responsibility for what it your own mistake. |
Hi guys, To promote a newcommer instantly when it makes him get access to raid consumables is far from smart tbh. |
