Before getting Hemorrhage, unless you're leveling with PvP/dungeons, it's better a sword in the main hand, because you will build combo points with Sinister Strike and if you use a dagger it'll deal very little damage. If you have a tank or you're attacking players you can Backstab, so daggers are fine.
Once you have Hemorrhage you can stick to daggers all the way up; that way you can backstab during stuns etc (backstab may seem a bit poor but once you get certain talents it becomes powerful). Off-hand weapon won't matter much except for PvP and higher level dungeons. Fast OH = fast procs of crippling (for PvP) or deadly poison (for PvE, using instant poison in your main hand), but against quest mobs and low level dungeons where everything dies faster than you can stack deadly poison (specially with low hit rating, typical in questing gear), it's better to use wound poison in both hands, which means speed will be irrelevant because unlike WP its damage is not affected by weapon speed. So, to the other rogues up there: no, it's not that obvious, sorry. |
