What was that Lore mistake pre-TBC?
|
|
Greetings,
I don't know if it's true, because I came here in the very beginning of Cataclysm and haven't played the game pre-BC... so I'm simply asking. I heard that during the events of BC there has been a serious lore mistake, which was discovered by the playerbase, and then Blizzard decided to go ahead even with it... Have you heard about this? |

Maybe you're on about before TBC the Eredar corrupted Sargeras, but it was vice versa in TBC?

Pre-TBC, the story of Sargeras and the Burning Legion was that Sargeras slowly descended into madness aftter endlessly battling two races of demons, the Eredar and the Nathrezim.
In TBC, when they fleshed out the Eredar and Draenei backstory (and linked the two races together in origin), Sargeras slowly descended into madness after endlessly battling non-specified demons (amongst them the Nathrezim), and after his fall he approached the Eredar and offered them limitless power if they joined him and became demons. The key difference being that in the first version, the Eredar were already demons, and in the second thhey became demons at Sargeras's invitation. When Blizzard were confronted by this, they openly (and sheepishly) admitted that they had simply overlooked/forgotten this. There was much rage, and eventually most people got over it. |

funnily enough, the old version is still in the Mythos section of the website ...lol, so i don't know which story they are running with because both are on the website as official lore
utterly crap with their lore... sorry, i have lost pretty much all respect. yet i'm still here listening on the story boards, i guess i still hope they'd one day take it seriously in game. fat chance though |

Sometimes I wonder what their lore and story writing department looks like.

Out of the many flaws of Blizzards writing, I wouldn't actually rate this very high... it was a minor change, which greatly fleshed out two major races, and they even apologized for it. What more do you want?
