Gurthalak or Pit Lord's Destroyer
|
Hello fellow Death Knight's :)
I am wondering if I should use the Gurthalak, Voice of the Deeps sword or the Pit Lord's Destroyer mace for tanking. The Gurthalak is sadly only LFR, since I havent done any "real" raids yet. And the mace gives more mastery and I have read that I should stack mastery as blood DK, but on the other hand I get tentacles, which is awesome. I welcome feedback on the rest of my gear aswell :) |

Well, only you know if you're in more need of survivability or threat.
If neither, go for the Voice of the Deeps. If threat, go for the Voice of the Deeps. If survivability, go for the Pit Lord's Destroyer. |
tbh, use one and have the other in your bag I'd probably try Pit Lord's Destroyer - at least while you're making the transition to raiding. Once you're comfortable with it and you feel you don't need the Mastery, roll Voice of the Deeps for the added DPS. |

Stack mastery like a boss

i tried both and i tell u pit lord's destroyer is superior by far
more mastery and same threat as u only get extra threat from gurth if it actually procs tbh as the difference in dmg is non significative. and a proc in an lfr weapon is not that ... wel... reliable to say the least |

Well, only you know if you're in more need of survivability or threat. You can *always* use more survivability as a tank so first option is out. Threat is a non-issue so second option is out. This leaves the mace as the best option. |
Not really. There comes a point where simply adding more DPS to get the boss down sooner is the better option. You can always use both more survivability and more damage. And more chocolate. It's impossible to say which the OP needs more without seeing who he or she raids with. |

Well, I havent been around very long in World of Warcraft and have not done any raids on normal yet, only did the LFR. So I dont really know, I never have any issues with threat nor survivability in the LFR, but I have heard and read alot about the LFR being really easy compared to raids on normal or heroic. And therefore I dont know how I will perform in a actual raid yet.

If you're still gearing up for raids, go with the hammer. Threat should not be an issue, while extra survivability is always good. If you have no threat issues, stick with the Pit Lord's Destroyer, and aim for Ataraxis or Experimental Specimen Slicer on normal. I got the Slicer and I love it, I just switch to Gurthalak when I need/want some extra DPS.

Use the tentacle sword because tentacles are so sexy and cool.
Also when the rest of your party dies and you have to solo the boss the tentacles really help with their imba damage. |
