Hello fellow healers!

I'd just like to make a thread where i post some useful addons for healers, feel free to add to the list.

I generally use WoWmatrix.exe to download all my addons, heres a download link for it.

http://www.wowmatrix.com/

Not all addons are actually on wowmatrix, for those i just go to Curse.com, when WoWmatrix doesnt have the addon ill give a curse download link. :)

Grid2

-You can get this on WoWmatrix.

Personally i love this addon, just because its so simple, i use it with every class that i heal with.

It's nothing fancy like Healbot or anything... But it works perfect for me, doesn't take much to get used to it really.

Quartz

- You can get this on WoWmatrix.

This is a castbar addon which changes the way your castbar looks. It's not specificly a healer addon but it's nice nontheless.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/580/quartz.jpg/

It doesn't only look fancy but you can actually move it anywhere you like, and theres a ton of customization available for it. You can make it display buff timers and tons of other stuff i wasn't bothered to try out... It has a red latency bar at the end of the cast bar, this is useful in movement fights, basicly when the cast is in the red part of the cast bar you can start moving. It also shows how much longer the cast still is.

Decursive

-You cannot get this on WoWmatrix, here is a download link : http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/decursive/572598

This is a very useful addon and I'd say a must have if you want to raid properly.

- I dont actually have a picture of this in action so i took one off google

http://addon.hotwow.com/upload/2008-10/Decursive_1.jpg

Basicly every little square represents someone in your party/Raid group, when one has a debuff that you can dispell, you hear a little "bing" sound and one of the squares will change colour. All you do then is click on the square and it will automaticly dispell the debuff on the target.

Simple Threat Meter

-You can get this on WoWmatrix.

Does what it says on the tin.

http://imageshack.us/f/20/simplethreatmeter.jpg/

This shows your 'threat level' on a target with a bar that grows the more threat you generate. When the bar is full, you over aggro. This is nice to have since you can use aggro reducing abilites like Fade or whatever when you almost overaggro or give you tank a warning. This is also useful for dps, i know it sounds weird, but you overaggroing a boss isn't always the tanks fault. ;)

_______________________________________________________________________

The UI addon i use is elvui, it basicly reskins everything and lets you move things like your chat, minimap, XP bar, action bars etc... Just google it if you wanna have a look at it. ^_^

For Unit frames i use Xperl, let's you customize and move your target, focus and your own character portrait.

That's about all the addons i use to help me out with healing.. Feel free to suggest your own addons and add to the list. :)

Vuhdo tends to be easier to configure than grid. Grid somehow turned from an easy and flexible raid frame add-on in TBC/WotLK to "wtf am i configuring now?" (excagerating a little, but it is annoying nevertheless)

Generally am I the only one that feels that add ons were much easier to configure and have a decent result in TBC and wrath?

Thumbs up on wowmatrix though,I don't use it to download the add ons,but I do use it to update them for many years now. It's an awesome program.

Is it? I remember having used it a couple of years ago, and at some point my AV beeped me up for a lot of spyware from it.
Since then I switched to the curse client.
You never had any problems with wowmatrix regarding security?

Hmm,I've heard about that part of wowmatrix, but no, I never had a problem myself.

Then again,I never launch WoW from wowmatrix either, only use it to update it and then close it and open the launcher manually.

I personally prefer Healbot before VuhDo.. I never ever use Grid, i dont understand it.. But choosing between VuhDo and Healbot i guess it is just a preference..

Other addons i use is

-Doom Pulse Cooldown
Flashes a spell icon on the screen whenever an ability gets of Cooldown.. (I have a huge in the middle of the screen that pops up a bit quick) Works well for everyone

-Omen
Threat meter, use it on all characters

- Recount / Skada / TinyDPS
Needs no explanation i guess? Usable for all characters and roles.

Thats what i use at least.. Basic stuff but simple, no other addons are in use..

Ay, and more importently when you run this stuff on linux, it (almost) becomes the only way as the latest versions of curse client simply won't run under WINE :/
(And V3 stopped working properly a few weeks back only...)
(** Have to say though, I do use V4 on a virtual win7 install occasionally, but it's such a hassle -.-;;)

Anyway, Vuh'Do all the ****ing way :P

T'is not a must have. Just learn to use your raid frames and put debuffs on them, then read up on boss tactics to see what said debuffs do. I'm the main dispeller on Spine HC and I've never touched decursive in my life :P

Unit Frames I recommend Shadowed UnitFrames, it's... amazing. Here's some pics of my UI's to demonstrate some of the addons I choose anyway;

Healer specific UI:

I try to make my healing UI's so I'm not distracted by the interface but still have all the essential information I need handed to me close to the middle of the screen x]. Memorizing hotkeys can really help with this since it means you don't need to look at skill bars ever and eventually can hide them completely.

TellMeWhen is the big pictures above my huge Mana Bar (Shadowed UnitFrames). It's like PowerAuras although much quicker to configure and lots of customization options to boot. Grid/Clique is used for my mouseover heals, Bartender with Invisible Action Bars for all standard hotkeys.

DeadlyBossMods for boss skills, Miks Scrolling Combat Text for simple combat text x]. Quartz is for all my spellbars and Tidyplates for the amazing nameplates.

Another example of Shadowed UnitFrames and Bartender I made;

In the end it's personal preference what you choose tbh. The only real 'needed' things for high end raiding is a Boss Mod, Raid Frames (with clear debuff tracking) and a decent set of hotkeys.
