I've been face bashing prot style for a while now but only recently started making pvp videos.
Since the super nerfs (spell reflect, colossus smash, vengence) prot warriors are slowly fading out of random bg's which is a shame. We were gods.

This is a short vid i made (using free FRAPS software) recorded from a couple of random bg's a few nights ago. Prot is still awesome, get yr shield out.

Hehe yea free recording software and a cruddy old laptop tends to make quality suffer a bit, but the action bars/dammage is clear (seen a lot of rolling dammage bars and crazy font in vids, hard to make out what people are doin)

The music is one of the most extreme tracks i have (i use music from friends bands for my vids) had to be something brutal. Not to everyones taste i know.

Interesting. I do really miss Prot PvP, I used to enjoy it ALOT in Wotlk and I'm still hoping we're getting it back in MoP. Doubt it, though. However, does this work good against target who has PvP gear?

But looking at your talents I'm not sure why don't you take the talent "Vigilance" or add a couple of points into blood craze, a 2% heal if your life is over 200000 can help quite abit. because you have more stamina as prot spec

Also you do realize you can still get vengeance in pvp with vigilance right?

If the person who you put vigilance on it getting attacked, you still get vengeance buff!

I tend to put it on powerful member of your party or someone such as a healer. Basically anyone who is getting attacked alot, and it will rise the more damage they take, I've had it go over 20000 attack power and people ask me how the hell do I come top dps as a prot warrior.

But if you have vigilance on someone and they die, you'll have to put it on them again or someone else. If for e.g your mid fight and the person who you have vigilance on dies, then quickly put it on another member of your party.

I'm not picking on your spec at all, its your choice. But I'm just trying to throw some advice if you need it :)

Ive changed talents around a lot tryin out dammage vs heal spec's, personally i like the 10% extra crit on shield slam over 10% chance to heal x ammount (random procs annoy me :P)
I need to go deep into the arms tree for tactical mastery (stance dancing / rage management) so chose second wind over blood craze (SW also gives you rage)

I did some tests when they removed vengence to see if vigilance still worked. It did not. (sorry to the various alliance i put it on and just watched die in bg's) my AP did not increase.

If its woking again i'll repsec now, 100k crits here we go again :P

I have second wind and 2 points in blood craze, my spec is a harder for rogues, ferals which is two specs you suffer against as arms. It helps because your getting hit alot, and getting hit fast which will give you more self heals with blood craze.
Sure your 10% extra crit on shield slam will help you do more damage, but for those long 1v1 fights you will miss those extra heals for blood craze, especially if your life is close to 200000 health.

You have to have one point in tactical mastery because you will have to stance dance from battle stance to defensive stance because of hamstring etc.

In regards to vengeance it still works! All they did was remove it so you don't get it from getting attacked yourself, but its still there if someone you have vigilance on is getting attacked.
The only problem is like I said with vigilance you have to re-apply it when the person dies. Although its not as good as it was before, its still 20% and gets very high because if the person is getting attacked alot it will rise and rise. You shouldn't turn down a buff of over 10000 strength for the sake of 1 talent point. So like I said put it on your healer, or mid fight always reapply it to someone who is taking alot of damage.

And the good thing about it is no matter where they are on the bg, if they are getting attacked you are getting vengeance. I'm surprised no one is making the most of this before blizzard remove it completely.

Yea vigilance was amazing, always put it on a healer, watch your attack power fly up!
Prob my best ever moment in wow was an AB battleground..... 5 vs me, i had 35k attack power from vigilance procing on a holy pala......... killed em all, hunter last :P

but before i spend 66g respec'n again can someone please confirm..

Yes

I play prot mostly in BG's, it's usually the stunlock and permasilence utility my team misses, and carrying flags is awesome.

The only thing that sucks is when you are solo vs people, you can pop cooldowns and survive for very long but you will rarely kill anyone.

Also you won't be beaten by rogues and ferals so easily, and you have another gap closer to fight those kiting classes; imo prot is much more enjoyable atm. But it looks like its going to change for the worse with the release of MoP so enjoy prot while you can....

But like I said with vigilance, keep re-applying mid fight to someone, always make sure it is up on someone! and remember to re-apply it if they die. Its really good on someone that dosen't die much, does great damage but getting healed alot at the same time, or a strong healer in your group. If you use it smartly, your'll get massive attack power buffs.

Prot damage is kinda bad, to achieve 2/3 of dps real dps classes do you need to be beaten on for 20 seconds, the only thing you bring is great cc and ability to deal medicore damage even if 3 people are focusing you and great gap closers, but if DPS choose to ignore or cc you you should sit on healers or peel your teammates since without stacked vengeance you don't have good damage.

It was not always this way, the spec has been niche a few times with +block value and highest burst in the game, back in Vanilla the spec was incredible and you where virtually undestructable

Im actually playing Lancer in TERA online at the moment, and its a tanking class made right, since you have so many tools for pvp including the ability to completely nullify all attacks made against you from infront.
If you really enjoy playing a tank in pvp, dont play WoW, there is plenty of MMOs that doesnt spit on tanks faces like Blizzard do.

And yes, i do like playing Protection, its just that its nowhere near as good as Arms, you can take on 3 random pug melee 1v3 with ease, but the second a Warlock, Mage or anything with magic damage or healer come you become useless except for carrying flags.

Prot PvP damage was ridicoules before they removed the +AP stacking tank buff.

Which was very unfair.
High survivability shouldn't go hand in hand with extreme burst.
