Dragon Soul question

Morning all,
I decided to roll this shaman after playing as a tank for 4 years and wanted to give healing a try! Now I know my gear isnt amazing and currently only 380 with one piece of Ele T13. However, healing dragon soul last night gave me some serious mana issues even after using my Mana Tide Totem etc! Decided to change my spec so that I could reduce spell costs and reclaim some mana. However I'm still not doing so great. Last night there was a shaman in our group who was topping the HPS aat 30k, when I focused on him all he appeared to be doing was healing rain, nothing else appeared to be casting from him yet his output was amazing. I know he would have ben using Riptide as this was his second most used spells. Now I stand there constantly healing with Rain / Chain Heal & Riptide yet im down to 50% mana in no time at all and still sitting 4th/5th on the output metre. I'm not all about recount figures and just want to ensure im pulling my weight on raids. My question is, will my output improve once I obtain the resto T13 goodies or am I healing the bosses all wrong! As I said before, all this Shammy seemed to be doing was Healing rain yet was awesome?? Any assistance/tips would be greatly appreciated. Got some good tips off our guild healer last night but just wanted to see what others views are. Thanks all. |

You should spec into the talent that lets you restore mana by throwing lightning bolts. In AOE healing fights you should be casting out healing rain followed by chain heals, riptide and I hope that you have earthliving on weapon. For healing the tank use riptide, and spam healing wave, keep water shield up and manatide in the right times. When everybody is healthy spam LB.

Hello there Deman.
First of all, choose your stat mastery or haste. Also you have 1720 spirit which is prety low , to heal up everyone and not go oom. Focused insight is not usefull for you in pve with that gear, even not convection. Check my talents and you see how its the best pve spec made off. You were healing in LFR group which is easy to do 30k hps, becaouse everyone fails, and HR on 25 man its just imba, when you try normal ds10 trust me you wont go oom, if you doing it right. But first of all get the new tier, find some shamy hunter warior friends and farm tokens for you. |

T'is subjective on what's best. From my own PoV, I find 7/2/32 to be superior and I'm saying that after about 5 months of using the standard 5/3/33 Cookie Cutter build. Hey, whsat do you mean choose ur stat?? I have reforged evrything to haste?? Resto Shamans typically aim for a "Primary Second stat" after the Spirit value is achieved. Mine for example is; 2600 Spirit > 916 Haste > Mastery => Crit This basically means I strive for as much Mastery and Crit as possible whilst maintaining 916 haste and 2600 spirit. The other way is simply stacking haste which imo is terrible for 10 man raiding. Though to be completley honest, I can't see anywhere where haste stacking would be better except in a 25 man. I recommend trying the values I use (2600 spirit etc), 1710 is far too low and should only be used if you have a Heart of Unliving Trinket which you don't have ;). With someone of your gear level, this'll probably involve getting new gear with Spirit on it. |

Thanks I may reforge some haste for now to spirit. I still cant seem to get anywhere near other shamans in LFR who seem to do 50% more than me. I tried LFR on my Paladin who's IL is 371 and had no mana problems whatsoever and was top two in the healing! I prefer Shaman but seem to get little out of what I believe is an epic effort. Maybe I'm more a holy healing man rather than throwing around water!

Small add..
You got hit gems in sprit gear? And then also 40 intellect / 40 crit gems. Why? Specially if you yourself say that you are reforging into Haste, why Crit gems? I'd recommend to change the spirit enchants into intellect enchant to at least break the 6k point. Is there a reason for not having Elemental Weapons? It gives you passive heals = profit. Cleansing Waters is useless for PvE unless you are doing Spine HC more or less. You also removed one point from Blessing of the Eternals which is another passive healing ability. You can keep Focused Insight if you'd like, but I personally find it completely useless. I rather use those points in the passive healing and Totamic Focus. But that is a personal choice. |
