Heroic modes as Ret

My guild has been working on some heroic modes recently, due to the lack of a pala healer we struggled with Yor'sahj, but on getting him down we swiftly killed Ultraxion. Tonight we attempted Zon'ozz and briefly Hagara. My dps was almost dead on 40k on Yor'sahj, i can't remember what it was on the progression attempts but i was wondering for Zon'ozz and Hagara, what should i be doing? I believe i have my rotation down, but am not so sure about when to use what CDs. We generally save bloodlust for 35% or 20%. Also, any advice on general raid tactics for these two would be appreciated. The comp is 3 hps, 1 tps and 6 dps.

Zon'ozz is more of a healer fight. The dps just make sure the adds die asap in black phase and they run out on the debuff. The rest is up to the healers.
Obviously make sure at the start of the black phase raid cooldowns (from tank and healers) and personal defensive cooldowns are used. We struggled a lot but finally got it down when we made sure we stacked good at the start of the black phase and we sorted out the cooldown usage. Priests are extremely good in this fight (for their super aoe healing cooldown). Me as a holy pally used aura mastery(in black) and just spammed flash of light and divine light. We had 2 priests, each used their cooldown every other black phase. The last black phase we only let it bounce 1 time and stack middle like normal and nuke. Hagara is also about healing and cooldown usage. We used 4 ppl for the lighting phase (2 each side, with strong defensive cooldowns) the rest stood middle for aoe heals. Same for ice phase. Melee make sure they run out for dispels, the ranged and healers stack mid and aoe heal like crazy. Healing outside those 2 phases is really easy and shouldn't give you issues. As long as your around 30k+ dps on the first 5 heroic bosses, enrage will never be an issue. Some like morchok you don't even need 20k dps. |
