Looks like he might not be made Warchief after all

I know what was said during the press tour, but don't be so sure yet that you know who the next warchief will be. The information provided during the press tour was... not entirely accurate.

Pretty glad to see that this may a possibility. So many reasons, mainly that, you know, he had to give up being a warchief to become a shaman. Now he's pretty much the greatest mortal shaman ever, he... Gives it up to become warchief? Made no sense, completely ruined a chunk of character development, and just made me wonder, "what was even the point of it all?". So yeah, cheers from me.

Well I do not mind so much if Thrall returns as warchief (even though I like Garrosh) after all it is his baby and he built the thing for better or worse.

But I took annoyane at the idea that the alliance in anyway helped the dude become warchief, it should be a pure horde event kind of like battle for undercity where their was differant versions, that is what I would like for the orgrimmar raid.

Because of the increase of war I am confused on why we should have neutral characters, Anduin gets captured and gets threatened that he will be decapitated and Thrall has already had fights with the alliance in cataclysm.

These are not just one or two minor characters they are big time horde/alliance and it seems odd they would have time of day for the other faction when said faction is out to destroy the other (loosing Theramore and Anduin working with horde after Jaina's loss who he considers an Aunt is wierd.)

edit note: he could still return to the horde and not be warcheif right? like a respected oracle or an advisor because it still stands that the orcs turned away from his rule to begin with.

I'll be very happy if Thrall doesn't become Warchief. I think that the next warchief needs to be a good horde character that didn't get his moral and political views from being raised as by humans leading the horde, there also needs to be shown that there can be conflicts between factions without one being made good and the other evil. Thrall taking over after Garrosh wouldn't fit either of those criteria.

Well, we do know that either what they said about Thrall being made Warchief after the siege of Orgrimmar isn't true, that or Zarhym's not telling the truth. I'm seeing quite a positive response to this, so I'm hopeful that they do something else with him, entirely outside the Horde (aka being a shaman). I'm just hoping that when Zarhym says "not entirely accurate", he means in the wholly understated "Actually, we kinda changed nearly everything".

Still, again, more positive response to the "thrall not warchief", and it's more likely to happen. More response to "not even Horde"? Even better.

Well, we do know that either what they said about Thrall being made Warchief after the siege of Orgrimmar isn't true, that or Zarhym's not telling the truth.

Or that could be what the initial in-universe plan is, but then something happens--such as, perhaps, Thrall getting axed to death.

Well according to LFG you earn titles based on kills, therefore Thrall is now the destroyer.

There's a pretty good chance I'll be angry again when they unveil what the actual changes are, but til' then, I'm happy.

And we lose like 50% of the Orc clans for a Troll warchief.
Yeah lets put Vol'Jin as leader and weaken the Horde in the mean time...

I think Metzen tweeted a response to this, and he did so rather vaguely. I think it went something like this (I paraphrase here):

Some guy: "I heard that Thrall might not become warchief again! He must, the Horde needs him! D:"
Metzen: "The Horde will always have Thrall."

Always have Thrall... but as what? As warchief? As an advicer? As something else entirely?

He would be the equal to the high King Varian Wrynn who have been blessed by an aggressive, wolf ancient.

Thrall is not as powerful as people make him out to be.

He is the most powerful shaman, and have always been due to his good connections to the elemental and ancestors, but he is not Dragon aspect powerful, especially not after the fall of Deathwing.

But he would be Varian Wrynns equal, that is basically it.

Maybe rexxar then. he has done so much things for the horde.
