Another GB of ram and a new graphics card would definitely improve things. Make sure you're actually getting an upgrade though. I once bought a new graphics card to upgrade from my old nVidea and I bought the Radeon equivalent ._.
What you'll want to look for in the graphics cards is something with about 1GB of memory (or more if you can afford it). I think 512MB cards will be ok, but I don't think you'll get too much of an improvement. Be warned, a more powerful graphics card may require a more powerful power supply. You'll also need to make sure the card you're buying will fit in your case. Make sure to check more than one site when you're buying something for prices and always be sure to check professional reviews. I'm not a professional, so someone else here might know more than I do. I know I had a similar CPU as what you have in my previous PC, and was originally going to upgrade to an Ati HD6950 1GB and was told that I would see an improvement over my nVidea 9800GT 512MB card. |

As others have said, get a new ram chip first (8gb is a good target, and there are some cheap chips going on amazon) and see if that helps you. I recently upgraded my Ram form 4gb to 8gb and i can tell you now that i am experiencing a lot better performance on almost all my games.
So yeah, ram first as it's a much cheaper alternative, and if your still wanting higher performance, then look into graphics cards. |
