Will two characters be able to earn the necessary achievements for a meta achievement?

As an example I earned most of the achievements for Glory of the Hero on my shaman. In Cataclysm I swapped mains and my shaman is rather under geared, would I be able to earn the rest of the achievements on my paladin and when Mists goes live I'd have earned the meta achievement and have myself a red proto drake and the Glory of heroes ? or would i have to get all the achivements on my shaman to earn glory of the hero?
