What happens when a mage casts blink?
|
|
Does he bend the fabric of time and space? Does he use wormholes? IF he does, why is it limited to 20 yds? This issue needs a serious explanation, I"m waiting for a blue here...

Yep, it's a wormhole over fabric of time and space... unless something is in the way... you know, those little rocks on the floor can easily fck up any black magic you trying to cast here ;)

"Do not try to bend the spoon — that's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth: there is no spoon."
Go watch The Matrix, explains it all actually... |

Blink is not a "true" teleport, it only forces all over players to close their eyes for the duration of the spell, whereupon the mage has had time to run 20 yards ahead, hence the name "blink".
Another theory is that it actually stops time. |

You are not *traveling* ahead, you push the rest of the world back.So obviously it has a 20 yard limitation.

Actually looked this up in D&D, and there it's basically hopping between the ethereal and corporeal planes. My guess is that time passes differently in the ethereal plane, hence why it seems like you move instantly.

When a mage blinks they are actually teleporting the entire planet of azeroth 20 yards behind them. This is obviously much harder then teleporting one person to another city and so this is the reason for the range limitation!
If you want a more serious answer here is one! As to the physics of what happens basicially the mage alters the subatomic manifestation template of the local universe while it is between manifestation states. Because this happens between two moments and is hence outside of local spacetime there is no energy charge up like with most spells. It is called blink as well because the space between moments has no concrete form so you don't see anything like when you close your eyes. Its a bit like the zen koan "what is the sound of one hand clapping" |

I like this one the best, it means we can blink the planet out of orbit. Maybe we could crash Azeroth into Argus to repay the draenei. |

so using the kettles and making tea at half time analogy for the UK or the "butterfly effect" theory, if every mage blinked at the same time in a chain exactly 20 yards apart we could actually force more rotations of the planet than are currently the norm?, i like that idea lol

"Blink is a short range full-body instant cast teleportation. The real objective of the spell is to replace the casters body with whatever is in front of them - the fact that the caster is moved to that area is the side-effect."
Taken from Blinking Rules & Regulations, a book that spawns in Dalaran ( http://www.wowpedia.org/Blinking_Rules_%26_Regulations ). Why is it limited to 20 yards, I don't know. Full text: "Blinking Rules & Regulations |
