The 'WoW killer'
And the people that so desperately feel that they have to make a topic everytime a WOW killer '' fails'' are really just as sad, as it simply makes them look like people that need confirmation that they are right in playing WOW. I hope that is not targeted to me because you could not be further from the truth. If so, You seem to have missed my point completely. The WoW killer in the thread title is with pun intended. I am actually genuinly surprised by the fact a game can lose a quarter of their subscriberbase in a month timespan. So please don't try and make silly comment about how sad i am for even making such a thread when you missed my point completely. |

There have been, i think, almost a dozen supposed wow killers to date, that have all come to virtually nothing in the end. Looking at the starting content (Twice as many raid bosses as dragon soul to start out) then mop has a chance to be a real winner and the new continent itself looks sweet. |

The only one that can kill WoW is blizzard. And it has already begun.

The real wow killer was called "World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King".

Star Wars sucked. that's the reason it's subs have dropped.

That's not entirly true, what about terrorists who decide to blow the company away? :o |

SWTOR has a few interesting aspects that would improve World of Warcraft's gameplay if it were implemented there.
Unfortunately, to a large extent, it is a disappointing game and I only played it for a month before cancelling my subscription. I think only die-hard Star Wars fans will continue to play the game unless they dramatically change some of the current mechanics of the game. |
What do you mean exactly mate? |

I don't see many people actually calling certain games 'WoW killers'. What I do see are fans of WoW claiming or insinuating that everyone was calling such-and-such a game a WoW killer, just so they can feel good about another game not being as successful as their beloved WoW.

You seem very anti-warcraft, considering you're paying to play Wow |
OR those who don't understand the game anyway. |
I don't see why you come to that conclusion. I like playing WoW. I like playing lots of other games too. |

wow has been around for a long time the only way there is going to be a wow killer is if a company did the same as wow, make a game with good content and build on it with patches with a good price for subscription, it would have to be set differently to wow so gamers have an alternative to wow, how do you go about it? well what i would do is the first game make it an island a very big island, set it in a diferent setting to wow and also copy wow with making it so people with 128mb graphic cards could play it, that is one of the reasons why people play wow you dont need a top end pc to play it, on this island you will have lots to do but you set the level cap to something like 50, you dont want to rush to 100 in the first edition, the problem with most wowkiller wannabes is that they try to much to quick without building a customer rapport, you have forums which you can browes to see what is liked and disliked and use that to improve the game, then you bring out patches and work on an exspansion, tbh blizz has got it just right with the patches and exspansions ratio, yeah sometimes they forget about patches when it gets close to the expsansion but thats part of life, now once you got customers(players) you can see how they enjoy the game, you dont want it to be all about the endgame as alot of people might not want to raid all the time, you do it so you can reach a wider player base, raids for the raider and other stuff for those that dont want to raid but want to get the most out of the game, now comes the pvp part, yes you have some realms pvp and some not, the battlegrounds you have to give what the players want in that, so you try a few things out and see what dont work in other games, once the pvp stuff is sorted with any luck you start to get more players, so the aim is to start of small with a good base of an mmo and build on it, not start of big and hope for the best, that is how you get a wow killer
