A proactive approach to the recruiting pool

We at Bedlam have started up a second raiding group! How does this affect the realm? Our intention is to recruit people with little to no hardmode raiding experience, clean them up real pretty and farm them out to hardmode guilds.
What do I get if I apply? We'll clean up all the dirty habits normal mode guilds tend to teach that can and will destroy any trial you get with a hardmode guild (waiting for a res after a wipe, not bringing/using food or flasks, slacking on profession bonuses etc), teach you how to analyse your own performance and admit your mistakes, break you in gently to the harsh criticism that comes in hardmode guilds, make sure you have the best class supervisor we are capable of providing and, when we're satisfied with your performance, will either bring you onto our main raid team or provide a reference to the guild you wish to apply to, depending on who is looking for your class and spec and where you wish to apply. What we expect from you We expect you to be prepared to have a 90% attendance record, work hard, look up strats beforehand, be a nice person to hang out with, be willing to listen to advice and accept responsibility for your mistakes and most importantly, be ready and willing to learn. We do NOT look at dps or hps when looking at recruits. These things are easy to learn. What we look at is correct targetting, ability to get out of fire, survivability and attitude to the people around you. I don't care if you're doing 50k dps, if you're a horrible person to be around, never do what you're supposed to and take weeklong camping trips in every patch of fire you can find, you are a liability. How do I know you won't keep me in Group 2 instead of helping me get into another guild? This endeavour is all about raising the general recruitment pool of the realm and promoting inter-guild relationships. There are a lot of people with talent floating around that just don't have the experience and/or nobody has the time to help turn their talent into skill. I have already spoken with Blatira (Outcast) and Dutchmagoz (ExQuisite) about recruiting from us when we implemented this second group and you can confirm with them. My guild is interested in recruiting as well! Feel free to contact me, Sente or Jaysa in-game or post here and we will add you to our list. We will keep an eye on what classes and specs you are recruiting and make sure our recruits are made aware of any vacancies you have that will fit them when they are ready. All we will ask in return is two things: 1. Should you find someone with talent and not have the time/patience to teach them, you send them to us. 2. You allow us to make use of your people for class supervisors. This will ensure that our recruits have access to the very best person on the realm for each spec. Recruitment information can be found here (http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/3010801770) and applications can be made here (http://bedlamkarazhan.guildportal.com/). |

Thanks! I just hope I get as much interest from potential recruitees as I have from potential recruiters :P
And no, never. 25man is just far too much wasted time and effort for too little reward :< |

You can carry me to daggers and know that you are a good person.
That is rewarding enough in itself... right ? ..Right? :D |

Half Bedlam half ExQuisite 25man go go go, i'll talk to Puah about it if you guys are interested :D

We're not. That was easy, ask me another!
Seriously though, the raid team is originally from Emerald Dawn, which was founded as a 10man guild when Karazhan was still relevant. If we were interested in doing 25mans, we would have done them during TBC and WotLK! |

Swag you won't get much interest in 25man around here, it too difficult to organise on this server. It is difficult enough fielding 10 players let alone 25 :p
But yea Lokya, Karazhan is really suffering from lack of capable raiders & has for a long time. This is what happens when guilds transfer, you lose a large amount of talent proportionally to your total population. This is partly why some servers are so successful, their skilled player to total player ratio is much better because guilds transfer there continuously. It's similar in real life, just look at the brain drain that occurs in the western world. That being said, I do think there are a lot of players that are somewhat scared to apply to hardcore guilds. We've found it especially difficult, and it's annoying because if people just spend a little time on their app I really don't care if their experience or gear is lacking, it's always worth giving someone a go. But people are scared, they think if they don't have 5 years raiding experience no one is going to give them a shot. That's not true! You just need to spend more than 3 minutes writing your application so we know you're not an idiot. Ah well, I hope we can turn things around & improve the server reputation. Perhaps one day guilds will transfer here instead of away. Only time will tell I suppose. |

We've always recruited fairly "low". At the moment I have a warlock who was doing 15k dps when I got him at the end of Firelands (now pushing 35k easily), a mage who had no hardmode experience at all, a resto shaman who had no profs and was gemmed and reforged for crit when I found him and a moonkin who joined us on something silly like a 383 ilvl while we were progressing on Blackhorn Heroic.
In just over a year of being Recruitment Officer I've only turned away one app that was well-written and that was because it rang some serious alarm bells. Ah well, I hope we can turn things around & improve the server reputation. I like the "we". It tells me my plan has already started working. I hope we can get as many guilds in on this as possible :) |

Ah well it was worth a try haha :D Great idea and gl with it :)

I will reply myself later, but for now:
"Going crit has never been bad for resto shamans" -Archie asked me to post this:D. |

Well I approve of your plan, although I fear it comes too late for us. The kind of player we're trying to recruit is 1 in a 1000 (and in my experience, you can't create them, it's obvious when you meet them), although this is the best way to go about it. A new guild is 10 new raiders that probably didn't raid before, so that's 10 new unknowns. To me that's exciting, and I would do it myself if I had the time. Unfortunately when we're back to 5 night raiding it doesn't really give time for any group twos.
I kind of wish there were more people willing to start new guilds. For some reason it's easier to populate a new guild (or group) than one that already exists. I've been pondering with the idea of starting a 1 day per week raiding guild, to help with recruitment mostly, but also to get BoE & reagents for Exquisite come MoP. Would likely be mostly Exquisite alts mind you... |
Crit is great for resto shamans! But Haste and (for progress) Mastery are better for throughput once you're out of blue gear. @Hala, if you do set up a similar group, you can rely on our support. |

Yea... =D |

I haven't heard of much poaching/transferring, does that actually happen?
|
|
In ED we had a couple of transfers come in and some poaching at lower ranks does happen. Not much in the top guilds though - most of our people tend towards do or die loyalty to our own guilds and the recruiters have enough respect for each other not to.
