Ok am new to the story line of WOW.
One question I would like to ask if I may. Whats the difference between a high elf, night elf and blood elf. Apart from one horde ones alliance are they from the same family, just went in different directions. |

Lorewise?
Short version: Night Elves are the "original" Elves. They are a noctural, matriarchal warrior race who rule over most of northern Kalimdor. Ten thousand years ago(ish) a group of them were exiled for their refusal to stop using arcane magic. These exiles travelled east, abandoned their noctural, matriarchal warrior society, and settled around a massive fount of magical energy known as the "Sunwell", in due time becoming High Elves. In more recent times, the High Elves were invaded by the Scourge, and their Sunwell tainted, preventing the High Elves from using it. Those who survived the Scourge attack were renamed "Blood Elves" by their leader - prince Kael'thas Sunstrider. Seeking a new source of magic to replace the lost Sunwell, these elves soon started down a darker path, draining every scrap of energy they came across - including fel(demonic magic). In even more recent years, it's also been revealed that not all the surviving High Elves became Blood Elves. Some few never joined Kael'thas, for one reason or another, and remain the race of choice when a prominent human hero needs a suitably submissive lover. If you're asking about physical differences and characteristics; Night Elves: Physically head and shoulders taller than the others, with larger ears, purple skin and silver eyes. Mentally they are matriarchal, highly aggressive and fiercely independant. They also tend to think little of other races. Culturally, they revere nature and their goddess(Elune) above everything else, and have VERY strict gender roles - women are warriors, priests and leaders(the last two being basically the same thing), while men are druids.... or ditchdiggers ;) High Elves: Tolkien Elves with bigger eyebrows. 'nuff said. Blood Elves: Physically identical to High Elves, save for their glowing (fel)green eyes. Mentally, they have a very egocentrical view of life, and are prone to extreme acts of sadism. Whether this is an effect of fel or simply due to them not restraining themselves the way their High Elf "cousins" do is unknown. |

That arrogance has always been a part of the Blood Elves, same goes for the High Elves and the Night Elves. If you are an elf, you are most likely somewhat xenophobic.
They have alot in common, the high/blood elves just excel at being arrogant. |

The elves have three things in common:
1. They have stupid, pointy ears. 2. They're just as arrogant. 3. And they'll slaughter each other just as mercilessly. Can't say I really feel sorry for them though. It's just one step closer to an elf-free world :) P.S It's "Elves"! Not "Elfs"... /Grammar Gestapo Mode off |

Bit too ironic coming from a death knight, isn't it. Watch your manners. I recall when I was playing RMP a long time ago, our rogue was a male blood elf, and we repeatedly ran into another Alliance RMP team whose rogue was a female night elf. Was fun watching them two rogues duke it out, elves ftw! |

Well, I suppose you are a little bit. I always chuckle when I see a Female Blood Elf and Female Night Elf duking it out in PvP. It's quite cute, and I've waited with interfering numerous of times just because I wanted to see the outcome first :D |

I'll have you know our ears are not just useful for carrying loads of awesome rings and excellent hearing - they are also pretty and not at all stupid! 2. They're just as arrogant. Justified, I might add. We ARE pretty damn awesome. 3. And they'll slaughter each other just as mercilessly. Given the current state of lorelols I don't really know how to respond to this. Part of me secretly longs to see our races make amends and combine our strengths to recreate a glorious world ruled by elf-kind. Then again, another part of me just can't stop loving pounding silly blood elf faces into the mud.
