Being a bad player - Hate..?
|
I bought cata at it's release and started playing this game.
I got 85's on two servers, and both factions on them. I decided to play WoW because most of my friends do the same, so I wanted to keep with them so I don't stare blankly at them when they talk about it, when we go outside. Problem is, I am not some gamer material. From total 6 85's atm only two are decently geared for PvP with honour cap combined with conq gear aswell. I've never been over 1.8k rating both in arenas and RBG, nor I even downed any boss in FL on HC or normal in DS. So yeah, basicly I am below "average" and I admit that I am bad player. I play this game for 2-3 hrs per day but I just can't get into it. I am easily discouraged so that is the reason I have 6 85's so far because I just quit on them and reroll something else. My main's guild basicly dislikes me because I am really bad. I mean, I am not a rude person nor I jump at someone's throats for any reason, nor I complain. But usually responses in guild chat are usually like; "Lol.." or "Sorry, but you really suck." Same goes with PUG's. My damage is not pretty good on any char, because I am just all confused and somewhat paniced because it feels like I am under thousand eyes who just wait for my mistake to kick me out. I do move from aoe and "bad stuff" I do interrupt when I can, but my damage suffers because I can't obviously remain focused on both. Perhaps I am overreacting but I don't remember finishing any PUG, sometimes because someone leaves or whatever, and sometimes I get kicked. Bg's are terrible. My score is usually 1 HK for 2 deaths so I end up with 3:6 and I am usually pretty low on damage aswell. It sucks to be me sometimes, because I feel like I am useless, for what I am in a way, but what I really mind are all those hate comments. English is not my first language, but it has been extended by all of the swears and bad words that have been pointed towards me. And all together it just feels so wrong. I do not enjoy this game, I feel like !@#$e and totaly not welcome to any content, PvP or PvE. I don't need nobody's pity nor someone to tap my shoulder and say; "So sorry for you." but I would like to know is it just my karma, or do people hate on everyone who is not a decent player? I perhaps would improve by time, but all those stuff are just discouraging and if I wasn't pretty flegmatic person I'd quit long time ago. But I don't really care nor I take it to my heart when someone calls me retard or stupid noob but I just wonder is it same everywhere? Are there servers or comminities that accept "noobs" like me with no hate, and perhaps with some good social manners? I've been playing FPS games mostly and I can tell I am pretty decent there, but RPG is just still on a bad side with me, but I do like it. I know all about hate and there is no point of being polite when it comes to many people, because they just don't give two arses about it. But still I wonder if someone can enlighten me why so much hate on game like this? There are loads of contents in this game, not just shooting people like in FPS, so it means people should be different at certain aspects of the game. But whatever I try all I get is hate and /kick. Why is it like that? P.S. Didn't want to post on main, because I don't want to point in what guilds/servers I am, cos I am sure it would reflect on my gameplay. Aswell sorry for bad grammar and prolly loads of typos. Cheers. |

I'd advice finding a guild that doesn't care about skills but about people's personalities. A social guild. One that doesn't care if you whipe ten times.
I'd never join a guild just to progress through the game. Secondly, don't worry about people watching you. Do your thing, don't let others influence your game time. If you're truly that worried about underperforming you should look up a guide and practice on dummies. |

There's no excuse for being terrible at this game.
Considering the vast amount of information that's readily available on the internet. Just Google what you don't understand and then read the related article, it's that simple. Having said that there's no excuse for your so-called "friends" and guildies hurling abuse at you. I suggest you quit and join a friendly/perks guild. To answer your question, people "hate" on bad players because like I said, it's hard to be terrible at this game and it shows that you're lazy. You say that you only play for 2 hours a day, and therein lies the problems. This game is designed for people that want to spend copious amounts of time grinding either gear or other items. In short this game isn't for you.
I commend you on this. |

What Funckle says.
Find a nice socialable guild and realise that even the best players can have bad days and be terrible. If you enjoy the game, it is for you. |
|
Yeah like people have said, it would be a good start to leave your guild probbaly and join a new more friendly one.
Also, it sounds like you just aren't interested in the game, and if you aren't really interested in something, if it doesn't really grab and hold your attention and most importantly if it doesn't entertain you, i don't think you will ever be good at it since your lack of will to get power, to stride towards goals and achieve something is greatly diminished. |

Not really. Some people do not learn well from theory, reading or watching vids, instead they learn better through practical experience. It may take them a few goes to get it right but it is still faster for them than theory. It's amazing how quickly I can shut a rager up in BGs when they say how bad everyone is and how they know nothing about how to play it by simply challanging them with: "Stop raging and show us your leadership skills/knowledge and tell us what to do". Calling their bluff tends to work for some reason instead of raging back. |
He should go and pracitce to be better then. Sitting on your hands waiting for someone to pick you up isn't the right solution here or in the real world. Be pro-active. |

I agree, unfortunately too many people just wait to be told what to do, instead of going out to find about how to do things. I feel for those that research and practice and still aren't too good, but for those that say "I suck, but can't be bothered finding out why", they're the people I have no time for.
If you want to be good at what you do, you need to put the effort it, plain and simple. If you don't then maybe the game isn't something for you. |

I bind my interrupt to my mouse wheel button so I don't have to look away to activate it and have occasionally gone into Panic Mode on a new boss or Dungeon.
Knowledge is power, so learn the encounters before hand on youtube. Once you figure out that you attack the same way with a few small alterations here and there, your DPS should rise and if you need to improve your rotation or use the right secondary stats there is always noxxic.com elitistjerks.com and many other sites offering advice. Also if you can enchant and gem everything, you don't need the top enchants and gems (the +40 gems will do fine) you can also buy some epics if you need to increase your ilevel. |

I honestly don't believe anyone is as bad as the OP describes. I think this is a trick thread. On the chance that he isn't actually lying and really is failing this badly, I'd have to suggest he takes a look at the way he is playing and figure out where he is going wrong.
Whenever I have trouble playing a class or spec, the first thing I look at is my action bars. Not only is it important to understand how your skills work and synergise with eachother, but the layout of your action bars is also important. If you have your main skills positioned in a way that feels natural to your rotation, then you're already halfway to mastering to your class. |

Thanks for feedback, and yes I agree that perhaps this game is not for me. Well I do not lack "will" to play it, I do like the game, but it just feels uncomfy sometimes. I agree that I should do more then just waiting for pickup, but I did google, took spec from arena junkies for PvP, but it just takes time to adept to some rotation and combo. I just cannot look at the talents and be like; "Yes I understand now."
True, nobody expects me to do that, dummies have loads of scars from my characters so far, but just hitting idle dummy and real player or boss is not the same. Could be pressure as stated or just my brain not being able to focus at the same time, I don't know. I believe I lack practice, but I am currently cought in this endless circle where I just don't feel comfy to do any of content, because it takes time like said, but while I "practice" hate continues. Like I said, I played FPS, I know that "noob" word is used often, and I know it is my fault for not adepting to game so fast as some people did. So this is the reason why am I currently stuck at my position. I know people do not know who I am in BG's nor people watch over me to see if I will make new character so they can continue with hate or putting pressure, it is all me basicly. I believe new guild/community will do, then again problem will stay, I will not become better player in the same moment. But the main thing is, I am aware of my "sins" still I believe people might sometimes be overreacting on some points, yes I agree, I wouldn't like to have teammate like I am, but I wouldn't get into family insults in bg chat, or "hope you die, noob". I mean, yes it is my fault in a way, I mess up sometimes, I am not in full glad gear, but it is not like I did some harm to you irl, to think that bad of me. I cannot ask any of you to put yourselfs in my boots, but it is quite difficult to make progress after being pinned down for every move I make. Dummies suffer from me, but I suffer from other players, more on verbal content then in combat. So just asking, is everyone really that "pro" or really harmed by my gameplay, that he/she should go this far?
Not so good with mindtricks tbh. But it is your opinion. |

I dont believe someone as terrible as the OP tries to describe would be able to get a 1.8k arena rating. OP is lying for attention I suspect. |

There's no rule stating that you gotta be extremely pro at this game. You pay to play and enjoy yourself, how others THINK that you should play is irrelevant. A lot of people treat this game like a job or the most important thing in the world. They are also obnoxious people who have the nerve to attack someone else verbally over something as silly as game mechanics.
Not to mention that some players just love e-peening themselves by calling others bad. If someone's a PVE player then he/she is still bad according to the douche who got 2.2k rating in arena. And the person playing PVP is bad to the douche who gets realm firsts in HC raids in pve content each tier. Douchebags will always be around. Find a new guild and find for yourself what you want to do in the game and how much time and effort you are willing to put into it. If you do not enjoy the game, then don't play it. When I first came to this game I was a total and utter nub. I would wear cloth gear because it was pretty with a tauren lady in a dress, I had no idea nor did I care about stats or the most pro rotations or pvp splendor. I did however have FUN! Then as time went on I learned, much by the help of really nice people and a good guild, that maximizing my character and performing at the top of my characters potential was FUN. Downing raid bosses was FUN and getting the nice looking raid gear/mounts was AWESOME. If I didn't get such a high amount of enjoyment from it, then I wouldn't do it.
^ What I'm talking about. This is a game, there's no way to be lazy at it since we're already parked on our behinds clicking buttons to move something else than our bodies, and playing gives no advantage at all irl. Some people are interested and driven enough to be pro at games, others are not and I see no reason why they shouldn't be able to enjoy what aspects they do enjoy in this game and try others to see if they fancy that without having to endure douchebags bringing them down over silly game mechanics. |

To put it simple, you shouldn't bash yourself so hard. You are a new player, and cataclysm leveling doesn't teach you much. Those that managed to be good raiders after just one expansion like cata either spent a lot more time on the game, studied guides and the sorts or had friends teaching them how to play. And some things like getting used to move out of crap, dps and possibly interrupt take experience. You leveled 6 characters so you prolly spent quite little actually playing at 85.
Step 1. Ignore those bashing you. You dont sound dumb, chances are you are just unexperienced. Step 2. Choose a character you enjoy most. Think if its pvp or pve that you prefer. Step 3. Check some guides on the character you chose. Check if your reforging is correct, check which rotations are best. Ask questions on the forums if you aren't sure. Test what you've read on a target dummy - those don't talk !@#$ back. After that, test further in random bgs if you prefer pvp or random 5 mans if its pve. Make sure you have a dmg meter installed and check yourself (no need to link it to others though). Ask on the class you chose forums if there are any addons that help with procs and the sorts - some classes use those. Ask about macros that can help. Test your dps in LFR - Ultraxion is a great target dummy enhanced with raid buffs. Be patient and don't give up on your chosen character just because you don't see your dps skyrocketing from try 1. Some of us never get to be very good, but that doesn't mean there isn't a place for everybody in this game. I know ppl that are pretty terrible players, and have been so for years but they are still great guys. There are ppl more inclined to gaming and having a talent at it and ppl that arent. I don't consider myself a naturally good gamer, what I have comes mostly from experience. For you, its too early to label yourself as "bad" imo. |
Everyone will have started playing this game and being pretty much clueless like you. Having a big ego and giving it the ol' large is the flavour of the century it seems.
