Basically, once you've used the authenticator once with your computer, most of the time it won't ask you for a code and it will let you log in. However, it will sometimes require you to enter the code, and this is random. As such, you can leave your phone at work and log in most of the time, but there is a chance you will get asked to enter the code and if this happened you would not be able to log in. |

Basically there could be occasionally minor inconveniences of losing your phone etc. But you will be able to rest assured that no one can log your account at all except you. Peace of mind. If you have an authenticator its almost impossible to hack you - and most people won't even try, they will instead find an easier target.
