Those best suited to power are often those who don't want it.

We're not fighting the Death Eaters, nor are we looking for the first president of the united states.

What? I thought this was the Harry Potter's Fanclub Political forum.

My bad.

Greetings friends,

This idea sounds like the forming of "United States of Ravenholdt", it will require a very good leader to unite all guilds. The key is quite straight forward, member management, and this is not just an ordinary management, since this will have to combine several guild rules, culture, tradition, etc.
At first it will require some adjustments and people will surely have to adapt to this new set up, but if we all really want this to work, surely nothing is impossible ??

Melch

ps: oh and yes, i'm in as well

This is what I was trying to say. We just have to be careful that we don't let anyone lead who is "Too eager" to be in power, otherwise we will be end up in an autocratic regime! In my opinion, we need candidates from long running guilds who are known for their caring attitude. As you say Mel, it will be very hard to meld all the cultures together - especially all the smaller friends-only guilds suddenly thrown into a massive open guild with lots going on. A lot of my real life friends have left for now but are coming back in MOP and it would be hard to return to a massively bigger guild.

Indeed we must be carefull..and set rules..rules witch most will agree upon, in the end some will leave and hopefully most will stay.
But when i look to all the stories told on the forums about wow, it is never the ones of easy accomplishments that where told.. It was that of hard work where people came together with one idea and fought to make it work.
And in the end look back and know they have acomplished something that no one has ever done before.
Then in a years time new bonds will have formed and a new guild will have risen. As long as everyone involved is willing to put in the effort.
I never said this would be an easy accomplishment nor is it wise to allready be detterred by the mamoth task that lies ahead.
But if we all work to one common goal..iam certain we can make it happen!

In a few weeks ill make a new threat one where we shall set about thinking of the people able to lead..be it if they wish to do so.
I hope based on my own and the expierence of others that we can find a suitable and willing leader.
If all the Gl's join with there officers then im sure this one new gl will have all the support he needs to make it happen

So allmost a year now since i posted this,
i got contacted by some enthousiast in support of my idea but that was about it. In the end together with the outsiders we brough in two more guilds to try and make a start after talking to different guilds and there respective leaders.
The four of us met up and we basicly got the same answer ive been hearing all around.
"Weve been around for so long, everyone knows us"
"Our name refers to us as a whole how will others know us if not for our guildname"
"If you see our guildname, you know how we roll"
or my favorite:
"Ill talk to my guildies about it" ( then never hearing anything about it ever again)
So the outsiders and tribe merged as we wanted this plan to work, all things great start small.
Thou it wasnt a smooth road i can still say we came out better as a group unified and stronger and now operate in unity, thou not as planned in a new guild under a new name.

And recently a new guild joined our ranks witch hopefully will go even smoother.
In my expierences i can now say, merges never go smoothly, there will always be bumps in the road even withthe best of intentions, but as logn as everyone is open to diplomacy and bridge building we will pull through.

The original idea still stands as of date and im happy the way its evolving now. Cause a social guild with only 5 ppl is a quiet social guild.

Me still being the gl is just happenstance for those wondering, and has always been discussed in the beginning, all former gls and officers have become officers unless they said they wanted differently.
