Hey guys, how are you all?
Just a Thread in Distress so to speak... I recently started PvE, and the whole Power Aura thing is quite alien to me indeed... I have set up one for Slice and Dice and to display a timer.. but i would reall like one to show my 2 different stages of Bandit's Guile... can anyone help me in making one... I just need it to be the same animation but change colour 3 times for the 3 different stages of Insight... All Help welcome, I need it! Telsin x |

RoguePowerBars addon is pretty good or tracking stuff like that and simple to use.

Are you still interested in knowing how to do it with power auras or will you go with Auracle? If so I can help you set up Power Auras.
|
|
|
You just need to set up Power Aura to look for the buffs Shallow Insight, Moderate Insight and Deep Insight (bandit's guile has 3 stages not 2)..
And set PA to just use the buffs own icon(can be done with all buffs and debuffs).. |
This is a seperate addon all together? It's a different addon yeah. You can get it at http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/auracle or by simply searching "Auracle" if you've already got the curse-client. I'm not sure of the exact default options, but I'll just screenshot all my configs and you can match them if you'd like and then just re-size it to your preference. It took a bit time to figure out how to configure it for me the first time, but it works a lot better than the equalent Power Aura's can produce in my opinion. Just move the square anywhere you want and resize as you see fit. |

well it's not just Bandit's Guile i need, i need ones for when my revealing strike is up, bladeflurry is on/off, ToTT is ready for the 2 piece bonus, My adrenaline rush is off CD blah blah blah, need one for everything basically. It's a different addon yeah. It's all very well saying 'just do this that and the next thing' without actually telling me: A) how to get the actually image for the 3 stages B) how to make it so each time it becomes a new colour C) how to make it flash or make a noise when it's in the red, so i know when to blow CDs. |

Tried it and it works perfectly, thankyou so much :D |

Powa looks quite complicated at the start, I must give you that.
My powa is only configured for 4 things, the three stages of Bandits Guile and my Fury of the Destroyer proc. Once you understand the basics it's quite straightforward. I found Salyns idea of uploading some screenshots very usefull so I will somewhat copy what she did. The first screenshot shows the things I track. The first one is Fury of the Destroyer and the other 3 are my BG buffs with their respective colours. http://i.imgur.com/ChFlM.jpgThe next screenshot will show my Shallow Insight (green buff) setup. This is the activation tab. http://i.imgur.com/A4bT4.jpgAs you can see if changed a few things. I'll start at the top: - The texture. Using the - and + buttons you can change textures to find the icon that you think looks good. - The opacity. Using the slider you can make the icon see through. I have my opacity set at 75% so that the icon is still very well visible to me while remaining seethrough. - The size. Some people like a big icon, some like a small one. Mine is big enough to fit around my character. This does also depend on your camera distance. - The position. You can change the Y and X axel to move the icon anywhere you want. Mine is locked at the center of my screen. You can also choose a colour for your icon (I obviously chose green, yellow and red). Now we have reached the 'Activation' tab. You can check various boxes but as far as I know they were configured correctly already. The part that's interesting for us is the text box where mine says 'Shallow Insight'. Here you will enter the buff that you want to track. Make sure the dropbox above the buffname-textbox is set to 'Buff' because the Bandits Guile stages are displayed as player buffs. The next page is the Animation page. http://i.imgur.com/XZVQ4.jpgThis menu is also quite straightforward. The top menu remains unchanged but the bottom menu has switched. In this tab you can assign what your icon is supposed to do whenever you gain or lose the buff. For Shallow Insight begin animation I have selected Zoom In as animation. This makes me aware of the buff because it somewhat flashes on my screen when I gain it. The End Animation is Fade Out while the begin animation of Moderate Insight is Fade In. This means once I gain the second Bandits Guile stage the green icon will smoothly change into a yellow one if you have set up the other 2 just like I did. You should display your buffs just like you want, there's no need to copy mine or someone else his example because what looks fine to me, annoys the crap out of someone else. I've now only explained how to set up the first Bandits Guile phase. It's pretty much the same for the other 2 phases except that you have to change the buff name and obviously the colour of the buff. The possibilities of power auras are endless, you can use it to track cooldowns, slice & dice and whatever you want. I was quite tired when making this so I'm sorry if some parts are not clear, feel free to ask me about the things that you don't understand. |

Sykela, this was very helpful indeed :) i have tested this out, and am pleased with how it has turned out, both addons are good for keeping track of this buff.
i was wondering tho, as i have no experience of this addon, is it possible for you to show me how to make one for the following... when my Blade Flurry is on/off, and when Adrenaline rush and Killing Spree is up with the timer etc.... i am sorry for being a complete bafoon towards this, but i have never been to bright when it comes to programs and interfaces. |
|
|
I myself use ButtonTimers for that, you can see the icons above my hp bar. For powa it shouldn't be too complicated either.
For things like AR and KS you simply configure it the usual way. Pick a cool icon, colour, enter the buff name below. To apply a timer take a look at the tab 'Timer'. Here you can check the 'show' box and use the sliders to move and increase the size if you like. Blade Flurry can be configured just like the other buffs too. Pick an icon and colour enter de buff name 'Blade Flurry' in this case and you're ready to go. |
|
|
well, to be exact, what i'm look for with AR and KS is not when they are up, but when they come off CD, i wish for them to be turned red when i have used them and a timer up on them counting down to when they come off CD... can you explain how to do this? Thanks alot, dont think this isnt helping it is, alot, and i am very grateful Telsin |

After experimenting with the various Power Aura settings I created two nice icon for my Vendettaand one for my Cold Blood Cooldown. (I currently don't have a Combat spec so it works equal to your AR and KS cooldown) and set it up to work just fine.
I chose to track my Vendetta cooldown at my right hand side while my Cold Blood was at the left side. The main page. To track a cooldown instead of a buff select 'spell cooldown' from the dropdown menu instead of buff. As spell name type the spell you wish to track (Vendetta in this situation). Now make sure to check the box 'cooldown only' or it won't work. Once that's all done move the position slider to the place on your screen where you want the aura to be displayed. http://i.imgur.com/ywPhy.jpgThe second interesting page is the Timer page once again. Select the 'show' checkbox and use the position sliders to have the timer wherever you want it. http://i.imgur.com/ubMSs.jpgNext is the Cold Blood. It works just like the Vendetta aura I created above. The only difference is that I set it up at the other side of my character to avoid confusion. Main page http://i.imgur.com/htWjj.jpgTimer page http://i.imgur.com/62xub.jpgSome screen shots of it all in action next. Both ready to pop http://i.imgur.com/v4dG6.jpgVendetta used and on cooldown http://i.imgur.com/8ReLd.jpgCold Blood and Vendetta both on cooldown http://i.imgur.com/F1NSb.jpgAs you can see once you have a cooldown available a big icon pops up so I know my cooldown is ready, once I have popped it it changes into a little timer knowing how long I must wait before I can use it again. |

awesome, i like the way this has turned out... one thing tho... is it possible, that when i have used the CD the icon stays but turns like black or dark red or something, and the timer stays on top of it? knowing my i'll forget which timer is which :P |

Might seem hard at first but this is how to do it.
select it as a buff type in the name field "Shallow Insight" choose a colour choose the icon you want or tick use own icon Move it around your screen to where you want click copy click page (whatever you like) do the copy thing twice change buff name to "Moderate Insight" change colour change other buff name to "Deep Insight" change the colour again now you should have three to track all stages of it. seems like alot and may take you some time to get used to it but that is the best way to learn power auras. It is an INCREDIBLY powerful addon that can do alot of amazing things if set up properly. Good Luck *edit* http://oi50.tinypic.com/2gspxj9.jpg That is my power auras, not amazing looking but they do it for me, all took like 2 minutes each to set up once you get to know how to use the addon :) |

After tinkering a little I did not manage to make it work the way you asked. With my born programmer spirit I instantly started thinking about a workaround (thinking outside the box huh). It was quite easy to find.
To make it work we need to create another 2 Power Aura aura's. I'll explain how I did it for the Vendetta one and you can simply copy what you did there to the other one. Create a new powa, select the 'Bloodlust' icon again (the same one we were using before) and drag it on top of the old icon by sliding the position slider. Change the colour of the skull to red. Name the spell (Vendetta in this example). Select 'Spell Cooldown' from the drop down menu again. Check the invert checkbox (important). http://i45.tinypic.com/167rrs4.jpgNow move to the Animation tab and make the begin animation 'Fade In'. Make the end animation 'Fade Out'. http://i48.tinypic.com/35hrebo.jpgNow please go back to the OLD Vendetta Aura (the I explained how to make a few posts earlier) and visit the animation tab. Set the end animation to 'Fade Out' http://i46.tinypic.com/v3hv8j.jpgWhat now will happen is quite cool. As Vendetta is ready to use there will be a white bloodlust icon on my screen. Once I press the button it will fade out while the red one will fade in so the icon with smoothly turn red. A timer pops up left of the big skull and starts counting down. Vendetta ready http://i49.tinypic.com/67twmw.jpgVendetta used http://i45.tinypic.com/s5ac1f.jpgImgur.com seems to be down, hence I uploaded the pictures with tinypic |

Here is my combat and assasination power auras import stream if you want to try it. It requires a full page 1 in the character effects part of power auras so doon't use it if you have some really important auras that you want to keep track of.
(Note I dont use mutilate in my combat rotation as I have found this to be a dps loss, as a result my aura for Insight overlies this now to save space on the UI The displays are as follows General - 1> Combo points display as developing circle until 4 or 5 CP, gunshot sound at these numbers so that you know to hit a finisher/apply revealing strike 2> Slice and dice counter to the left of the character which counts down until it runs out 3> Tricks of the trade ready notice - at bottom of screen, only appears when in party so you dont get it when soloing, coupled with waterdrop noise. 3> Kiroptyric Sigil ready display - this shows when this trinket is available to use as I currently have this equipped on my rogue 4> Recuperate counter - on top of SnD 5 > "Agile" trinket effect - shows how long left of Kiroptyric Sigil is left For Assassination 1> Rupture counter - below SnD on left hand side shows how long left before rupture needs to be renewed. 2> Garrote counter - how long left on Garrote - below Rupture 3> Vanish available - on bottom of screen on left when up gives a "Kaching" shopping till type noise. 4> Overkill counter - tells you how long is left on this buff when in combat for the 20% additional energy regen. 5> Vendetta Available on bottom of screen to left of ToTT aura 6> Time left on vendetta - shows how long vendetta is active on your current target for is on right of your character 7> Backstab prompt with sonar noise - ring appears around your character in the middle of the screen when the enemy hits <35% health to tell you to switch from Muti to backstab for the kill phase. Combat spec 1> Adrenaline rush ready - on bottom of screen where vendetta is in assassination spec 2> Time left on Adrenaline rush - to right of character on top of the vendetta time counter 3> Revealing strike - Aura to show that you have revealing strike on the current target so you dont overapply it. 4,5,6> Shallow - Deep insight - shows when you have the insight buff on your current enemy, colour changes as insight deepens, once at red a timer starts as it cant be reapplied at this stage to show you how long you have left for CDs etc 7> Killing Spree available - aura to show this ability can be used Although it sounds clunky I have shared this with several members of my guild who are new to raiding and they have found reasonable dps increases and have learned how to play rogues better as a result. Hope this works well for anyone who tries it, the import stream is below, simply copy it and paste it into the "Import set" part of power auras to get the whole thing working. Video of it in action on madness with assassination spec http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRMeVtugrEI&feature=plcp Import Stream (change page @1 to page @2 if you want to keep your own auras - its in the first line of the script) Set=Page 1@ Aura[1]=Version:4.23; g:0; icon:inv_sword_48; buffname:1/2/3/4/5; r:0.0118; bufftype:6; texture:89; PowerType:1; size:1.2@ Aura[2]=Version:4.23; b:0.2627; icon:inv_sword_48; buffname:2/3/4/5; r:0.0588; bufftype:6; texture:90; size:1.2@ Aura[3]=Version:4.23; b:0.0118; g:0.9765; icon:inv_sword_48; buffname:3/4/5; bufftype:6; texture:91; size:1.2@ Aura[4]=Version:4.23; b:0.9961; g:0.9765; target:true; icon:Ability_Rogue_Rupture; buffname:Rupture; x:-146; bufftype:2; texture:46; alpha:1; owntex:true; mine:true; size:0.34; texmode:2; timer.HideLeadingZeros:true; timer.Texture:AccidentalPresidency; timer.enabled:true; timer.cents:false; timer.Relative:BOTTOM; timer.UseOwnColor:true; timer.Seconds99:true@ Aura[5]=Version:4.23; b:0; g:0.4549; icon:inv_sword_48; buffname:4/5; bufftype:6; texture:92; sound:22; size:1.2@ Aura[6]=Version:4.23; g:0.949; icon:Ability_Rogue_SliceDice; buffname:Slice and Dice; r:0.9608; x:-152; texture:111; alpha:1; owntex:true; size:0.3; y:55; timer.HideLeadingZeros:true; timer.enabled:true; timer.cents:false; timer.Relative:BOTTOM@ Aura[7]=Version:4.23; b:0.1647; g:0; icon:inv_sword_48; buffname:5; bufftype:6; texture:93; sound:22; size:1.2@ Aura[8]=Version:4.23; b:0.9843; target:true; icon:Ability_Rogue_Garrote; buffname:Garrote; r:0.9765; x:-147; bufftype:2; texture:102; alpha:1; owntex:true; mine:true; size:0.3; y:-123; timer.HideLeadingZeros:true; timer.enabled:true; timer.cents:false; timer.Relative:BOTTOM@ Aura[9]=Version:4.23; b:0; g:0; target:true; icon:inv_alchemy_elixir_05; bufftype:8; texture:54; alpha:1; sound:23; threshold:35@ Aura[10]=Version:4.23; icon:ability_rogue_recuperate; buffname:Recuperate; x:-152; texture:78; alpha:1; owntex:true; size:0.34; y:131; timer.HideLeadingZeros:true; timer.enabled:true; timer.cents:false; timer.Relative:BOTTOM; timer.y:16@ Aura[11]=Version:4.23; icon:Ability_Rogue_TricksOftheTrade; buffname:Tricks of the Trade; bufftype:7; texture:47; owntex:true; sound:24; inParty:true; combat:true; y:-318@ Aura[12]=Version:4.23; icon:ability_rogue_deadliness; buffname:Vendetta; x:-195; bufftype:7; texture:228; alpha:1; owntex:true; sound:11; combat:true; size:0.5; y:-308@ Aura[13]=Version:4.23; icon:Ability_Hunter_RapidKilling; buffname:Overkill; x:250; owntex:true; combat:true; size:0.39; y:131; timer.HideLeadingZeros:true; timer.enabled:true; timer.cents:false; timer.Relative:BOTTOM; timer.y:21@ Aura[14]=Version:4.23; icon:INV_Qiraj_JewelEngraved; buffname:Kiroptyric Sigil; x:190; bufftype:7; owntex:true; sound:56; combat:true; size:0.5; y:-303; timer.enabled:true; timer.Relative:BOTTOM@ Aura[15]=Version:4.23; anim1:5; icon:Ability_Rogue_QuickRecovery; buffname:Agile; x:253; texture:130; size:0.4; y:4; timer.HideLeadingZeros:true; timer.enabled:true; timer.cents:false; timer.Relative:BOTTOM@ Aura[16]=Version:4.23; icon:Ability_Vanish; buffname:Vanish; x:-343; bufftype:7; owntex:true; sound:60; combat:true; size:0.5; y:-306@ Aura[17]=Version:4.23; target:true; icon:ability_rogue_deadliness; buffname:Vendetta; x:250; bufftype:2; owntex:true; mine:true; size:0.45; y:-139; timer.HideLeadingZeros:true; timer.enabled:true; timer.cents:false; timer.Relative:BOTTOM; timer.y:6@ Aura[18]=Version:4.23; icon:Spell_Shadow_ShadowWordDominate; buffname:Adrenaline rush; x:-197; bufftype:7; owntex:true; combat:true; size:0.49; y:-306@ Aura[19]=Version:4.23; icon:Ability_Rogue_MurderSpree; buffname:Killing Spree; x:339; bufftype:7; alpha:1; owntex:true; combat:true; size:0.51; y:-303@ Aura[20]=Version:4.23; icon:INV_Bijou_Yellow; buffname:Moderate Insight; x:-147; owntex:true; combat:true; size:0.37; y:-29@ Aura[21]=Version:4.23; icon:Spell_Shadow_ShadowWordDominate; buffname:Adrenaline Rush; x:250; owntex:true; size:0.46; y:-139; timer.HideLeadingZeros:true; timer.enabled:true; timer.cents:false; timer.Relative:BOTTOM; timer.y:10@ Aura[22]=Version:4.23; icon:INV_Bijou_Red; buffname:Deep Insight; x:-147; owntex:true; size:0.39; y:-27; timer.HideLeadingZeros:true; timer.enabled:true; timer.cents:false; timer.Relative:BOTTOM; timer.y:19@ Aura[23]=Version:4.23; icon:INV_Bijou_Green; buffname:Shallow Insight; x:-146; owntex:true; size:0.35; y:-31@ Aura[24]=Version:4.23; target:true; icon:inv_sword_97; buffname:Revealing Strike; x:-309; bufftype:2; texture:128; owntex:true; y:-130@ |
