I always look into these guides to see what's happening, honestly, let people RP the way they want, tell them why you won't be RP'ing with them in the hopes you get your point across and they learn but you can't prevent anyone doing anything and mocking them isn't cool either, it shows only bitterness at you being annoyed you can't RP the same level of "OPness" as them, it isn't fair for them to be soo powerful but neither should you stifle the persons creativity is basically what I am getting at. Besides a bigger problem is the amount of godemote or lolfighters that don't understand realism in combat.

There is no mocking in this thread. The thread is merely for educational purposes in hopes anybody wishing to portray a Darkfallen will do so correctly or correct their misconceptions, and of course to educate people who don't know much on this lore.

This has truly increased my curiousity.. It would be perfectly manageable to RP a san'laym, but obviously not write it in your RP addon or talk about it on public, if ever at all..

Avery interesting read and truly triggered my curiousity! And, I have to say; it would be very fun trying. I feel like reading more on it.

This is my bump and I shall cry out for a sticky too.

I find threads like these amazingly helpful, as I myself never create a powerful/evil character. The sole reason is because I'm far too scared how big frowns will be sent my way. So, in my eyes; my characters always seem normal, with a lack of special abilities. Often they lose in fights and such as I try keep them as close to real life as possible. Which can both end up being interesting character (or more often.. Boring ones.)

Nonetheless...

I hope you, or others, will continue post threads like these (I've not searched the forum pages properly) and get them to sticky

Thank you, yet again, for adding colour to my mind. I have a little plan forming, and I hope it will succeed.

Much gratefull love
from the shy little mouse,

Ironically, I must state that the guide is partly incorrect. They are vampires, at least partly in the traditional sense. Just look at Prince Taldaram in Ahn'kahet. Not the damage or such, as those are pure game mechanics. Just look at the name of his abilities, the way he does them, and indeed his quotes. That is fairly vampiric to me.

From what I can see, you're not entirely right either. From your link, it clearly says that he is 'a vampiric darkfallen'. Whereas you incline that the san'layn are vampiric all of them.

I might be wrong, but I like to believe that they have different powers and different abilities. Just like the different classes. The sentence 'a vampiric darkfallen' also inclines that he is a type of darkfallen. He belongs to the vampiric type.

Edit: which then points towards an answer that there are other types of Darkfallen. If all were vampiric, then the link is 'wrong' as it would not be a necessity to write 'Vampiric', if you get me?

Nonetheless, you might be right/wrong for all I know. But good observation nonetheless.

On a different note.. It's a fantasy world, RP whatever you like, as long as you stay within the unseen boundaries. Like a dragon.. Let's say a black dragon. No. You do not walk around offering wine to people, telling them you're of the black dragon flight. You do absolutely not tell them that you're one of the remaining breeding dragons.

Unless you wish someone to hunt you down and execute you.

Play whatever you want. But before you do; use your wits. What is must likely? What is way out of the league? It doesn't matter if others don't accept you. Just DO NOT force your RP on them. Know your boundaries. Know your place in society.

The last everyone wishes is to be known as a proper loller, noob w/e and become shunned by everyone. And I mean this mainly for those who have been 'RP'ing for years'.

Once you decide to do something heroic and difficult.. Create a proper story arc for it. There is a guide with the different W's. I'll find the link and edit it in. It seems good for the basics. Rest is up to your own RP skill.

EDIT: this is the link. Enjoy! :D

A good while back I knew someone who RP'ed a san'layn. He was also quite good at it. I've never had more horrific and terrifying RP ever. He was so good at it, that it made me doubt the shadows IRL. But then again.. Back then, I was new to this world.

So yes. Absolutely. It -is- possible to RP a san'layn. He had smaller mistakes, but his RP skill was a good ten'er

Darkfallen aren't vampires. Vampires don't exist in Warcraft. They're "vampiric" to simply put it.

The term vampyr is horrifically used by Blizzard, but it kind of fits. It does not mean, however, they are "vampires".

Vampire implies it is a spreadable curse that turns people undead and into blood suckers.

Darkfallen are not vampires.

There's no such thing as vampires in Warcraft, only vampiric styles.

So, they have a more free-will, so, is it possible, that by some special reason, one would NOT be loyal to the scourge?

I think that RP-ing one of the San'layn would have to be really well done for me to not just /sigh at the person.

My belief is that they are scourge only. But if it's RP'd well, I'd overlook it. they would have to have a damned good reason to not be scourge loyal though. One of which i can't think of.

Also, I can't remember if you mentioned Tenris Mirkblood but if you haven't you might want to.

He was the guy sent to Karazhan on the orders of the Lich King. He dealt with a lot of blood spells. none of which make it clear if he was a vampire as such, but definitely enjoyed the 'smell' of some of the adventurers. (see his quotes) -Note that the adventurers slay him so he is very much dead.

He also dropped the vampiric batling pet. -There are a surprisingly large amount of vampire references to the San'layn. I really wouldn't scoff at the idea of one being portrayed as a blood-drinker. Just as long as they remember that they aren't a vampire in the traditional sense of the word.

In my wiew, it is not so much a faction loyalty as it is a sense of motivation. Darkfallen want something.
We accept Darkfallen into our guild, but that is only because the "feeling" of a Darkfallen would fit inside it. The guild is, after all, similar to the Scourge (Many of us are ex-Scourge IC) but not affliated with them.
