Why play Mage?

In MoP via Symbiosis -not sure if that's the correct name- you get a spell your team m8 has, so if its a Druid then as a Mage you get to heal every 10 sec!

Holy #@$%. Why didn't I know of this before? Also I love how rogues are going to get so nerfed in patch 5.0. Seems very likely mages will be the most favourable PvP class this time. |

Disagree Frieeza, there are mages then mages that can play there class impressively well, make no mistakes and wipe the floor with you, without you doing more than 20-30k damage. THAT does take skill and a dam lot of it too, every class requires levels of skill in World of Warcraft, some more than others, Elemental Shamans damage is pretty hard hitting too...Mages are cried OP because they have such high survivability, just because frost is a spec for the mages doesn't mean every mage plays frost, I personally PvP in fire, and mess about with some arcane, fires usually my spec though. Generally in raids I don't see mages topping people by massive amounts sometimes they don't top, I rarely see mages topping BG boards as well, in Arena they are more a pest than anything.
Just because you dislike a class itself doesn't mean you have to spread your hate around forums, keep it to yourself, your note about :if you want to be good wow player and seeking for more challenge ( PvP wise ) i highly suggest warrior, shaman or warlock: < this tells me you have little PvP experience or your just highly ignorant. Shamans have had some OP patches too. Warriors I used to play 24/7 from Vanilla to Cata yes they require a lot of skill but so does any class if you want to perform better than anyone else, Paladins were OP 90% of WoTLK? No class is 1 button, if your lucky you might get a frost bolt out of 1 button. Rogues aren't one button either, I play Assassination PvP if i was to use one button that would put me in stealth. I gather the one button is sarcasm, but it's stupid sarcasm...I highly suggest you play all these classes first, get a feel for them at 85 and realise that ALL classes need Skill, Especially if you want to perform better than the rest. This is coming from someone who played warrior from Vanilla to Cata mixed with some rogue, and priest. I've played all classes except DK's and Locks. Yet I still don't cry 'Mages are OP' or 'Rogues are OP'..bleh.. oh BTW upon writing this i asked two shammys 1 guildy 1 friend, ele and enhanc do insane damage and resto shams are pretty OP atm...Just saying you cannot be that bad in PvP surely? |

Other than TBC, Mage has been the complete class for so many years. Frost dominated in Vanilla and still dominates today.
Ice Block was a 21 point ability into Frost, they made it available to all build! That should have been a huge sign that this class was going places lolol Shatter required 20 points into Frost to get, now its a tier 1! Again buffed and buffed! MoP the class gets to use an ability of a team partner, so if you have a druid on your team, as a mage, you can cast healing spells! You still don't get it people? This class has been designated as #1 by some one high in the ranks of Blizzard! |

Why is this thread full of scrubs whining about mages?
I play rogue/mage/priest at max level, why do I pick mage? Simple, fun factor, no other class in the game comes close. Rogue was my first ever class in this game, originally I levelled a mage just to play low lvl pvp, but the class ended up being so much fun I barely ever touched my rogue again and levelled my mage to max level in TBC. Even though rogues are the most overpowered class in the game right now, I would much rather play my mage because its such a good class for helping out your teammates, whether it be in battlegrounds or arena. I love to conjure my ritual of refreshment every bg, and protect the healers, cc the enemy to kill flag carriers, love playing with my warlock friend in 2v2, keeping pesky rogues off of him. I see mage as one of the least selfish classes in the game when played correctly, and whilst its arguable that mages are at their peak right now, and with the right gear a bit too strong, I feel that until cata hit, mage was always the class that rewarded player skill more then any other, and never really hit the godmode overpowered status that other classes frequently reached as arena has progressed through the seasons. Thats why I play mage. |

Why I play mage? 'Cause I want to buuuuurrrn the frost mages! >:D

Same.. Frost mages are safe-playing pussies who need a good burning. ;) |

Lol yeah right, real tactical keeping everyone perma cc`d Blink away from cc, absorb-shields, ice-blocks, perma-nova, impact... Class is OP dull as dish-water now |
Hence why you choose to level one :) |

Why do you play a mage, you ask?
Because: 1) You're OP overfed favourite og GC. 2) You're the easiest class to master in both pvp and pve 3) You have stolen most of your abilities from other classes: Over 50% of your skills are developed from others. Why play other classes if you can steal others skills? 4) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEOBmmLcUNQ 5) Oh, almost forgot. You're getting buffed more in MoP. |

Erm, why not play a mage (pvp) ? Everything is perfect as a mage. You can feel like a god. You can be a frost mage with really good damage, control and decent mobility, or then you can be a fire mage with really good damage, good control and the whole game's best mobility. You can escape from anyone, because nobody can possibly stop you without a group.
Or then you can just spec arcane and 3 shot unsuspecting people in BG's. Simply because: WE. ARE. GODS. WE. GOT. IT ALL. WE ARE NOOB FRIENDLY AND HAVE HIGH SKILLCAP. WHY NOT? |
What do you mean by ''least selfish''? Least coward? If that's what you mean, then no, vice versa. Frost and especially fire mages have so much control and mobility, that it makes them one of the easiest classes to escape with.. |

I started playing World of Warcraft in January 2008 and that is when I rolled this fellow mage. I was a gnome up until Cataclysm when I decided to race change into a Worgen mainly because my armor looked so small on a gnome and I benefited from 1% crit in PvE :)
I've never regret rolling a Mage and really loved playing it since from the start. I mostly play PvE and my best PvE experience was in Cataclysm. Haters gon' hate. |
Well technically, Elemental spec was the ruler of pre-BC. And if we get even more technical, the most complete class back in the hay-day was rogues. Because !@#$%^- I hated them. |
