Worst director

So who are the worst director(s) you know off? Let's keep it to directors you might have had a chance to hear about and not indie ones :)
Mine is the Michael Bay, yes a cheap answer. But the man have made 1 movie that's watchable and that was Armageddon back in 98, since then he's only made movies which instead of plot have extra effects. And no there wasn't any original about The Island |

Uwe Boll.. He makes films so bad, I kinda feel sorry for the guy.
On a more positive note, some of my favourite directors, in no particular order; Christopher Nolan Jason Reitman Guy Ritchie James Cameron JJ Abrams Peter Jackson Steven Speilberg Duncan Jones |

Roland Emmerich.
edit: but i may be biased by the info he will direct the Asimov's Foundation movie. If it comes out a bad copy of Independence Day I swear I will make a voodoo doll of him. |

i don't get the hate against Michael Bay, but I know that it's cool to pretend to hate what everyone else likes. He knows how to create exciting moments and he knows his stuff about military. There are definitely worse directors than him out there.
I love most of his movies except Pearl Harbour. The worst director must be Nicolas Winding Refn for making Valhalla Rising .. |

While I agree that Valhalla Rising is one of the worst films I've ever seen, I must say that in my eyes Winding Refn is a great director. Bronson was great and let's not forget Drive, which I think was by far the best film of 2011, and one of the best films of the past 10 years. I don't think a director should be named "worst" because of one bad film alone.
Regarding Michael Bay, I won't say that he is the worst director around, because let's face it, his movies have made close to 3 billion dollars so he must do something right. Personally I don't enjoy his films as I think they are too shallow and his plots lacks depth. Especially his Transformers trilogy, which to me feels like a couple of excuses to show off some of the latest visual effects technologys. Favourite directors though, apart from already mentioned Winding Refn: Stanley Kubrick Coen Brothers Paul Thomas Anderson Danny Boyle Guy Ritchie |

Worst director hands down is Uwe Boll
|

Tim Burton.
Was once a huge fan of his movies (mainly The Nightmare Before Christmas,Edward Scissorhands,The Batman movies he made) but lately he just spews out a complete load of rubbish with little to no story and a bland gothic setting no matter what. The worst being the Charlie and the chocolate factory movie or the alice in wonderland movies he made, jesus they are cringeworthy. |

Dennis Dugan is pretty !@#$e.
Never seen anything by Uwe Boll, but if he lives up to his reputation.... |
|
Uwe Boll is so bad you'd think he's trolling.

Uwe Boll/ Joel Schumacher,
One director makes all his movies bad. The other made some ok, but made an Abomination of a film. Batman and Robin was horrid to watch. The suits had rubberised Bat-Nipples, Arnold Schwarznegger was forced to do a lot of one liners i.e "I hate it when people talk during the movie". The addition of Batgirl was not really a sensible idea either, the ONLY redeeming quality was that Alfred was dying of an incurable disease and that the only guy that actually knew how to cure it was Mr Freeze. Poison Ivy was a terrible character, Bane was reduced to a laughing stock (Though Christopher Nolan raised him to the levels of being a believable character and the performance of Tom Hardy was second only to Heath Ledger, who played Joker better than Jack Nicholson, which many weren't expecting) The Batman Films have usually been good. Apart from Forever and Batman and Robin, Batman and Batman Returns were the best movies Tim Burton has ever made, and The Dark Knight is second to no film, not even the Godfather. |

Joel Schumacher!
What that guy did to Batman Forever and Batman and Robin, will never be forgotten. The 1960s Batman with Adam West were easier on the eyes! If I could shoot anyone and get away with it, it would be him.
I disagree. Both are two different jokers and two different classes that can't be compared. I loved both, thought both did brilliantly in their roles, Jack Nicholson's joker actually being permanently scarred due to Batman (Sort of like the comics) and Ledgers showed more of the knife loving does what he wants joker. During TDK, I was disappointed with the Batpod/Joker scene as it was too much like Burtons Batwing/Joker scene. |
The Room is hilarious if you go into it as a comedy instead of a drama. Tommy Wiseau is actually pretty cool if you consider the fact that he willingly dubbed his melodramatic magnum opus as a comedy/"so bad it's good" movie simply because of how much people laughed at it. Compare Ed Wood who insisted his movies were actually good and that the audiences didn't get his genius. |

Have to say Joel Scheumacher and the unholy mess that was Batman and Robin....dear sweet jesus that just should not have happened...THANK GOD for Christopher Nolan- that man saved Batman's film career!

George Lucas. Ruined his own creation.

It's not uncommon for directors or writers to deem their work as parodies retroactively after having it utterly slammed by critic. It's a sign of how embarrassed they are over it. The Room has been noted for among other things its awful cinematography among those more savy over film making. It's pretty safe to say it's probably not some clever satire or deconstruction of the genre. |
