Mage - which speciality to go for?
|
Just started up a Mage character (a Dranei).
Now reached level 13 and not yet chosen how to spend my Talent points. My first thought is to go for Fire, although the help of a water elemental makes Frost look tempting. What do people think please? Which is the best choice? I concentrate mostly on PvE, although I do visit the Battlegrounds for PvP sometimes. Previously, I have played Warlock and Hunter, so I am missing the help of a companion to hold the target at range. |

Don't pick Fire just yet. It may seem fun but it doesn't get good until... well, just pick Arcane or Frost. Trust me. I am a professional.

Pick frost, and use :
#showtooltip /cast [nopet][target=pet, dead] Summon Water Elemental; Freeze This will allow you to press an action bar key to use the pet frost nova, instead of you having to move your mouse to the pet action bar and manually click it. Also, if your water elemental aren't present it'll be summoned on the first macro click. Edit: But really, pick frost. it's the easiest spec to level with. |

If by PvE you mean /LFD arcane will do the best at low levels, and fire will catch up and surpass it as its toolbox grows, and frost will always be behind :p

You're welcome, and yes. If you're used to another class, adapting the new one takes a bit of practice.. :) I've got all 10 characterers maxed up, and it can turn out as a nightmare sometimes with nearly 200 different macros :)
