Right well, hi. Contradicting myself but new things coming to light mean we might only form a pact with the Coven. Things need to be smoothed out. The Cult of Affliction is fairly new with what I hope is a unique way of recruiting. :> We intend to cause a bit of (RP-worthy and useful) trouble in the realm through events and random spurs of the moments.

Background
The Cult of Affliction was born out of a group of disgruntled void and arcane magic users, who had felt restricted by the laws of Stormwind and cornered into being unable to explore the boundaries and pioneer their talent. To that end they met and formed this new cult, one born out of anger and frustration to which they intend to gain only their ends and take no heed to others.

Territory
Currently we are based in Stonewatch Keep in Redridge (We moved there secretly, no one should know.) due to it's sheer awesomeness as a location. We also plan to use Stormwind quite a lot as a recruitment area. Other than those two stationary areas we tend to move around quite a lot conducting events in Westfall, Duskwood, Redridge and Stormwind.

Recruitment
Hopefully this is unique and will allow me to not go "stealing" people, it is essentially where my inner circle (When it is fully formed. xD) and I go out and we target specific people who are both guild-less and look like they might be able to be influenced enough to join the Cult, this meaning i won't go taking people from other guilds and the Cult itself won't be advertised massively as "LOOK AT THIS CULT, LOOK AT IT, IT'S HERE. SQUISH IT."

Ranks
Shadow - The leader(s) of the Cult, so to speak, they are known for being able to commune with the void and of being able to directly influence minds.

Darkcaller - Trusted member of the inner circle of the cult, they can commune with the Shadow. (Leader) They will handle discipline within the Cult and are trusted most by the Shadow (Leader)

Shadowblade - A member of the inner circle, they can have meetings with the Shadow.(Leader) They will often be called upon to conduct and help organised the Cultists and initiates into doing what they are told to.

Cultist - A trusted member of the Cult who has taken the oaths and initiation and been in for some time, enough to earn some meagre respect.

Initiate - They have just been initiated and have very little influence within the guild, yet given time. They could build up a reputation if seen as being "useful".

I hope we don't cause too much disruption and our aim is not to anger you, it's simply to generate a bit more hostile RP. Because lets be honest, talking about cakes in the Recluse can get old.. Thanks for actually reading this block of text. (Unless you skipped to the bottom!) If you have any questions or wish to join mail/whisper me OOCly in-game! \o/

_________________________________________________________________________
Update!

After having found they were stalked to the Raven Hill Cemetery the Cult purged the area of all evidence that they were there, trundling out of the area with a cart to head to the next area. Where shall they travel?

We do have rules believe it or not.
>Be amiable and polite within /guild chat and treat others with respect as with many guilds.
>What the Shadow says will ultimately be the end word, it may ask for input and suggestion but it doesn't mean Shadow has to take it.
>We do use explicit violence in torture when it is called for, not that I promote torture OOCly nor do I promote it ICly so anyone under the age of 16+ really should leave the room at those points or anyone uncomfortable with it: Note I won't take any blame if you don't.
>I do not want any Meta-Gamers or so called "lollers" (This includes Dragon-RPers, vampires, and the like) within this guild so if you are doing either you shall be given a strict warning, if caught again you will be kicked.
>Anonymity is key, have a spare disguise to hand for when in Stormwind.

Thanksies, and apologies for leaving the Cenarion Outreach without saying goodbye :<

I could level a host of complaints, but why complain when someones bringing some RP to the area? The only thing I would say is. Moral ambiguity. Why are you evil? why are you a cult? Don't make this a disney cult, where you want the destruction of SW because thats somehow a legitimate justification for you own evil acts.

I'll bring an alt around and see what the guilds like sure.

Oh to the demons of Chaos and Order

One clad in silver and burning eyes, The other Bare and drenched in blood
They dual with a spear of Gold and Sword of Iron

Each Strike sparks more war.
Each clash strikes more blows

Conflict, their trial
Fleeting, their Victory

Lives are lost,
The strong, slain.
Knowledge, the Victor

For in this war, A hundred die
For in this war, A thousand war.

Chaos and Freedom
Order and Security

One and the same
Different and seperate.

Yet..... We exist.

Life goes on.
Peace comes and Goes.
War dies and is reborn.

So that is Zenera in a nutshell

Hey there,

This topic looks to be a good beginning for your guild, and I'm confident you'll all do well and be excellent roleplayers.

That said, I have a personal request to make. Use of shadow/warlock magic within the city would not be taken very kindly. I've seen yourself, for example, use shadow form and claim it's an apparition.

Shadow magic, as I understand it, is strictly prohibited within the confines of the Kingdom. Should you be more subtle about your use of dark magic in public, I think you'll look much better in the public eye, and it may even provide a new RP opportunity for you, as you'll need to try to conceal your magic as much as possible.

This is only a request of mine - You may do with it as you wish.

While usually, I would totally agree with you on a matter such as this and of the use of shadow magic or void magic within the walls, I myself having a Paladin who is so devoted and tunnel minded he ends up trying to kill any user of dark magic, I cannot actually do such a thing..

You see due to a small complication, which has in many ways enhanced my RP and made my character something I wish to continue playing (Which doesn't happen often) it is that due to the Shadow Ascendant having recently become canon with lore I decided to create a character of one. So I cannot actually appear in public without being wreathed in shadow. Unfortunately, hence I have to use the apparition as it is the only way for me to -do- anything. Now I have considered simply not being in Stormwind but considering that the majority of RP is done there except for events and spur of the moment events, I would have nothing to do.

But thank you for the advice, I'm taking it all on-board as much as possible considering this is a new experience for me, I'm usually an underling. xD

Wow, don't you just love it when someone takes a bit of lore and completely twists it to suit themselves.

I'm insulted. I haven't twisted it at all, my character follows the ideals of the Shadow Ascendants and I have in fact gone to extreme measures to make sure these are accepting, asking many RPers of there thoughts after thrashing my idea out on the RP channel I am in.

Well, I've read on a number of forums actually that the original Cult of Forgotten Shadow were forsaken only and thus only members of the forsaken were able to become shadow ascendants, however I have also read that considering they worship the shadow as a form of religion it is a universal thing which many races could choose to worship and hence become a shadow ascendant, it is merely most well known within the forsaken with only a few isolated cases. On top of that since they have now become canon due to being referenced and also placed within the short-lived WoW magazine it is possible to play them. Not only does the magazine imply they were a neutral organisation, but in fact the entire concept was originally created by a disillusioned human bishop who died, it was then the forsaken that rediscovered it and picked it up.

When you make such a character you must be ready to take the OOC consequences aswell that means no roleplay in Stormwind, if you walk around weathered in shadow than just like a warlock going around with his felguard out, the guards would attempt to capture or kill you on sight.

It's just like when you choose to roleplay a demon hunter - No entering the capital cities if any cities at all.
Or a dragon roleplayer that goes around, "Hey guys I am a dragon" - I suggest that you follow Terrafros's advice, it would enhance your roleplay and make your guild look a lot more like a cult.

Someday I would hope you got your head bolted right on, and understand that we are playing with in the World of Warcraft, and the game has a certain lore.
