Give them what they want..

Dear Blizzard,
Please would you think about creating an option that people could choose to use in a future expansion? Allow people to choose the option of an increased levelling time, in which time they will not be given the same modes of easy quests like everyone else but let them have the quests that would challenge and stimulate their intellect. Let them use their skill to fathom out the meaning of obscure texts to find or kill things; don’t insult them by giving them direction and flashing objects to find things. Allow them to scour the area for cogs to use whilst looking for objects camouflaged in the scenery. Do not flag up the quest cash in’s on the map as this too is insulting, they will always find their way back. Of course the brave people choosing this option will not want your charity by allowing them a mount so early on, so they will be opting to walk across the whole world until level 40. At which time they would have been spending the whole time saving to buy said mount as of course they will also be opting into the vanilla cash scheme where money is more challenging to make. During the levelling process as these higher beings will have opted out of your easy menial quests, they will of course reach a point in the questing where the quests stop out of the blue and laughing in the face of your structured quests they will grind mobs for 2-3 levels. This will be good practice for their raiding so don’t feel sorry for them. By level 70 they will be offered the chance of a flying mount, there might be some more grinding to do to be able to afford one. Or maybe they could sell herbs on the AH which incidentally do not need to flash and will of course be small enough to get lost within the background scenery. But they will persist even if it takes them a year or more as they will thrive on the challenge. For raiding, Blizzard could you please fashion an old style raid instance, just one that only the people choosing this vanilla mode of playing will ever see. Something with a good storyline and something that people can tell stories about in Stormwind to the lesser peons. Allow people to experience the original spirit of wow, the unique legendary times..Allow them to fulfil their destiny, reach the limits of their skills. Allow them to grind half the week for the mats for food, potions, flasks, elixirs, sharpening stones, chest runes. Do not ruin the game by letting these mats be easy to obtain! People need to feel as though they are working for something epic. Allow the mats to be gleaned from far distant places, some in dungeons which need to use crowd control otherwise the whole party will die. Let them gather the mats so that one evening they may indeed be ready to raid. We may once again be able to see the higher skilled players waiting in anticipation of their raids. Maybe allow a waiting station roped off in IF that only these players opting in can stand in. When they are raiding please let the raid need to have certain characters. A balance of different classes that each raid needs to have to be able to complete the raid. Let each of their buffs be active for only 5-15mins, that one person who has to buff 40 people every 5 minutes will feel fulfilled by the challenge. Of course shadow priests, feral/balance druids, prot paladins, dps warriors, warlocks (unless you needed a summon) and mages that are not frost would not be welcomed as they obviously do not know their class if they think that is the best spec for it. The mobs will need to be crowd controlled and if the cc is accidently pulled out there will always be that chance that your raid might wipe which will add to the challenge. The bosses will most likely require a 15 minute talk through about tactics and for the bosses that require 10 targets these people will not require your easy way of adding a symbol to the target, NO! These are skilled players they will take the target of the leader and not lose it until the talk has finished! They will also not need your silly columns of light for people to stack on as they can ask their frost mage to arcane blast to signal where to stack. And after a long hard grind and many, many wipes all 40 people will eventually learn the fight (or half of them will learn to carry the other afk/bored half) and be able to experience the end boss. Which should be challenging and involve everyone having a job to do and if that one person fails they will all wipe. But that is ok as it will produce a healthy exchange of criticisms (curses) which will stimulate said player to play better the next time. Please let them enjoy the epic boss fight and allow them a nice cut scene at the end. Do not spoil this and allow other people in a random city to see: this should only be accessible to those choosing this prestigious mode. Please reward the heroes a few pieces of gear that is of epic quality that will look visibly different to others not choosing this mode of playing. If does not matter if you wish to include an item only horde players can use or an item where the stats are not worth ever using in combat as long as they do not drop elsewhere. You could also put the legendary back in legendary and allow someone a 0.0000000003 chance of getting a fragment that would allow them to combine 45 together and claim a weapon that might not be of use to the person’s main spec who claimed it but it would at least look damn awesome. Also I think for choosing this vanilla mode you should give people a title or some piece of gear to visibly show others in their presence. Maybe a helmet with a flag on top or a flashing spinning weapon so that others can ask where it was from and be enthralled and in awe of the tales of heroism and skill. Oh I forgot to mention that you should probably ban all forms of talking about this new raid on any forums, you will need to copyright the information as the people choosing this mode will not need to use and help videos/tactics from the guild that usually supply these helpful hints for them. The people who choose this mode will want to go in and learn for themselves firsthand. You may also want to see if you could stop any type of helpful mods people use too as I’m sure the people who want these challenges will also not want to use these mods that shout out timers/allow people to click heal/give threat & damage meters etc...These people will want to play as pure as possible to experience the original wow game play and be fulfilled with the challenge. So that’s my proposal...I hope you do at least think about this Blizzard as every other post I see there is somebody or other complaining about how everything is too easy. It seems even the people that have not completed the heroics or sometimes not even the normal raids think that it’s all too easy. So it is for those dissatisfied people I make my claim, it is such a shame that these people are forced to play in such a world where there is no choice! However when you creating your new mode please do not put my name down for it, I am just a peon that enjoys the game, if I want to be challenged then I will climb a cliff face or play an old game of Rock star ate my hamster..Seriously was it ever possible to get a number one song??? >< So anyhow I hope you are able to appease the hoards however I am looking forward to my new panda, silly pet battles and I don’t need any more of a challenge healing stupid people who can’t move whilst I have no mana so please don’t revert any of my game back to 7 years ago :) |
