After careful examination of new talents and abilities in MoP im not sure if i want to play Feral druid anymore. So i need you guys to talk me out of it.
So,can someone explain to me why so major change was necessary? Druid is/was unique class because of its ability to change to different forms and have more roles. Sure you werent as strong as rogue in Cat or as warrior in Bear but it was close and constant shapeshifting made you adaptable to fight any class. And what happens now? You get new feral spec that is degeneration of rogue class. It is hard for me to survive as cat even now in PvP(i play 70 twink BGs) but i manage by shifting to bear +survival instincts and in MoP you lose even more survivability, only thing you get is instant heal through talents. Was this change necessary so I can be similar to rogue,or warrior as guardian?Hell,if i want to play with rogue,i would play with rogue, not some twisted degeneration that cant last 5 sec vs rogue or frost mage. So can someone tell me is feral now only PvE class or there is some hidden mystery i dont know about? |

It sure can be countered but apparently lots of casuals / bad players mass complained about it so it's about to get nerfed. We won't lose bear form completely, it will just become weaker. Also, we get stronger heals and Savage Roar will buff our overall damage, just like it was in WotLK. Also, feral is a kiting spec, so a decent / good feral will kite the enemy and not just plain burst, unless you want to pop Berserk / Trinket. Anyways, it's still a bit difficult to judge atm, but the first weeks of MoP will tell. Besides, there will be buffs / nerfs. |

The change is made for same reason as 99% of all class nerfs are done, because of pvp crybabies whining that they can't faceroll kill something.

Or maybe its in the interest of PVP balance - where some specs need to be changed. I know because I play as Blood sometimes and against melee that is a really broken spec. My frost mage is the same vs most classes - can faceroll them with little effort. My balance druid on the other hand can whack out immense numbers in BGs but if i get caught on the backfoot its seriously tough. I personally think this change is warranted as being able to go from hard nuking DPS into bearmode while your DoTs chew through people is a little OP. Just my opnion anyway |

PvP balance?
Im sorry but this change is bigger than removing few ablilities.I Lose half my strenght( bear form=.On top of that i lose all survivability except that new healing talent. How can i last vs rogues, blood DKs and Frost mages like this. Maybe damage is incrised al little but whats the point when ou die before dealing damage.
Yea,so weak there wont be point in using it.Hay,maybe i should spec to guardian for PvP? |

Because of the way the new talent system works.
Talents differ in effect according to the spec you're in (And the form you're in). Without this change, all feral players (Even people who spec pure kitty DPS) would have full access to tank talents. Likewise: feral bears would have full access to kitty talents. Compared with the current (and past) talent trees; Where you actually have to sacrifice points in your main-purpose talents to become a hybrid, the new talent system would make hybrid bear-kitty spec not only possible, but unavoidable: Without any sacrifice at all. So, in short. The new talents mean that combined feral would be absurdly overpowered both as a dps and as a tank: In both PvE and PvP. How can i last vs rogues, blood DKs and Frost mages like this. By playing Beta and actually taking a look at the combined package of how classes changed, instead of doing what far too many people do on these forums: See any change as an individual change in the CURRENT version where nothing else changes. Just because you don't like one change doesn't mean other things aren't changing as well. Oh, and Frost mages aren't supposed to be beaten. Don't be silly. ~Vaeil (Still thinks the Cata talent revamp was pathetically executed) |

We get to shift out of roots again in mop so lol frost mages
And I think the loss of being able to withstand being molested for ages in bear form will be offset by the new talents we can get to control the fight (displacer beast, FF becoming a ranged snare, AoE disorient on a 30s CD, nature swiftness to be able to insta cyclone every minute without having to land a finisher). It will definitely change the feral playstyle though. I'm happy with it however because I found the cata feral playstyle rather boring. |

All of your damage is melee and 30% overall damage comes from auto attacks in MoP, how exactly do you kite while in melee range?
Self healing has been nerfed in the last few builds, DoC used to increase healing spells by 70% but has been nerfed to 30%. On a training dummy you can only just keep up rip, rake and SR due to really slow energy regen and low crit chance, in a PVP situation its impossible to keep pressure on somebody and have enough resources to CC. Target switching is glacier slow now that stampede is a hunter cooldown, you'll barely get to apply rip before SR needs refreshing. Movement speed is lower because you have to to choose between feline swiftness and charge on tier 1 talents. Overall ferals are looking horrible to play as well as being heavily nerfed in all areas. |

You apply bleeds and then use your mobility to keep distance and control your enemy with CC (Cyclone/Root/Hibernate) while you top yourself off and then repeat. PvP balance? 1.) You're playing 70 bracket which is known for been unbalanced and terrible. 2.) I suggest you learn to kite, finally feral is been reverted back to a class that actually takes some sort of skill to be good at. I've just explained what abilitys to use to kite above ;)
Pretty much agree with this, atm feral is just another brain dead spec. Anybody can open apply 5 comb point bleeds > bear and not die. I welcome this new change. |
