I've returned to the game because Pandaria looks great and I want to be ready at the release!

It's also time to reroll and start fresh. But I can't for the life of me figure out if I should play a troll or a tauren. In any case it will be a male character. Tauren have always seemed a little clumsy to me, but on the other hand they are so incredibly cute and gear looks great on them. Plus the feeling of clumsiness is reduced by the fact that I'll often be in animal forms. Trolls on the other hand seem slightly smaller and I actually like the funky colors on the cat/bear. Meh, I'd like some opinions on people who've made the choice and whether or not they've come to regret it. :)

I was also wondering how the druids are in beta, especially resto? Both in PvE and PvP. The current situation in arenas for example doesn't seem too good, but I heard rumours it would be improved in MoP. And is it fun to play?

Anyway, writing this bored at work, I'll start the journey this evening and I guess I'll pick the race that will get more positive feedback here. :p And if nobody replies I'll cry and just throw a dice.

Tauren is for feral and troll is for resto and boomkin.
But it doesnt matter much best is to pick the one looking most awesome and for me that was a troll.

Go tauren. they look very druid-ish, troll just look wierd as druid imo.

Hmm, do the racials really make that much of a difference?

druids look great in beta for all specs.

About the racials, taurens are better for pvp in my opinion since warstomp is not really used in pve, but that stun in pvp can mean the difference of killing or being killed in pvp especially for non ferals.

On the other hand, trolls berserk is helpful in both pve and pvp and for all specs. The reduced time in snares isn' t that much noticeable to make an impact.

Warstomp > berserk everyday in pvp.

When I was a Tauren, I really miss Warstomp. That saved my bearbutt so many times, I stopped counting. Warstomp + Regrowth or root! What a life saver!

I must say, Worgens are pretty cool too, and the Darkflight has also got me out of trouble, but no where near as much as Shadowmeld.

I'd say, Tauren, Worgen or Night Elf.

I never really got the whole idea behind Troll druids.. Cool shapeshifts (except the bat) nevertheless!

Yeah, that was in 2007 - but it was re-published in the Level Special Edition a few weeks ago, which includes all the best stories published in their magazines in the past years. I'm honored being part of it.

- and yeah, as some people have mentioned - totally go for what looks the best! After all, you're the one who has to look at the character for hours and hours. So take the druid that looks coolest, with the coolest shapeshifts :)

Tuskmon I believe he was asking about how much of a difference they do make, since you said "Tauren is for feral", not whether you should choose racials or race appearances.

Tauren have more health, and have a PvP stun, while Trolls have a cast speed boost on cooldown. These bonuses are minute - they will not make or break your DPS/tanking/healing ability, they will simply improve it by about <1%. You should let the appearances and lore determine which race you choose, not what minor buffs they have.

I personally chose tauren because I like their lore and their natural way of doing things. :-)

I've had my main tauren druid for quite a while now, just got tired of the big meat loaf running around, re-rolled as troll female. Much better aesthetically. Also MOP will add astral form glyph which kind motivated me to reroll to boomkin

cows best looking race for druids and obv the best racial for PVP <3
