Hello all

I have a problem with my nvidia graphics driver crashing while playing this game, getting the error "nvidia driver kernel stopped responding but has recovered..."

In searching the forums i have tried downgrading my graphics driver to 296.10 from the newer version of 301.42 which had the same error.

Not sure if this is needed but i have pasted my dxdiag below....

Hi,

I had a GTX 570 and I'm getting random?intermittent crashes to desktop with the exact same message you're getting!

The card manufacturer kindly replaced and upgraded me to a GTX 580 and I'm still getting the same problem.

I reied the latest beta drivers (something I do'nt normally do) and that seemed to work, however other games were not stable so I reverted back to 301.42

I think we need a new driver!

Hi - i seem to have solved it - a fair bit of trial and error! I am running windows 7, and what seems to have solved it (for now!) is i un-installed my nvidia driver, restarted and just out of curiosity i tried the game, which i have been playing for the last 5 hours without any issues or crashes, so for now i am just using the bog standard driver that windows 7 installs :)

This maybe worth you trying if you are on windows 7 :)

If you could provide what sort of crash your getting it would be a lot easier.

- Bluescreen (BSOD)
- Name of the file that made the crash. (i.e nvdvis.sys
- Go to Event Log in Windows and select > Windows Logs > Application. Look for the red (!) signs and it will contain all the information what happened. Most important is that I need the exception code, they look like this: 0xc0000005

Do this yourself first:

IMPORTANT: Disable Windows Update completely! Else it will just search for the WDM (Windows Display Driver) automatically and install that one after deleting it and rebooting.

Download Driver Sweeper

Reboot, and spam F8. You'll be taken to the Windows boot menu, and select: Safe Mode.
(Not with networking)

1. Launch, select the boxes - NVIDIA CHIPSET - NVIDIA DISPLAY - NVIDIA PHYSICS
2. Click "Analyze" it will probably find a bunch of crap.
3. Click "Clean"
4. A dialog will popup asking you to reboot..
5. Reboot.
(Optional, this might be the problem as well... tick the REALTEK - SOUND box as well.)

nVidia High Definition Audio Drivers, sometimes has an issue crashing with Realtek.

Download nVidias latest driver, install.

Boot into normal Windows (Windows Update off, remember?) and install the driver. Latest for the 540M (296.10)

1. Download
2. Execute the file.
3. Choose "Custom" in the installation wizard. Tick off the boxes you don't use, for example 3D Vision drivers if you don't have the 3D kit that is.

If you removed the Realtek driver with Driver Sweeper, enable Windows Update again!

4. Reboot!

Also check "Device Manager" for any errors on any devices in the system.

As well - Re-enable Windows Update if you prefer having it on. (I hate it, but everyone got a different taste.

That covers quite some, and usually solves a lot. If not, I will need as much debugging information as possible. (Crash dumps etc.)
