How come so many players at level 85 goes around without enchants and gems? It's sad too see. Can't you afford enchants and gems? Do you find it unnecessary? I would like to know why you don't get gems and enchants. Basic gems and enchants are not expensive at all. So I don't see the reason not getting it. But as I said, please tell me why YOU choose not to get it.

If the gear is going to be replaced quite quickly then it may not be worth getting the best enchants and gems, the +50 stat ones, but the next level down enchants and gems, the +40 stat ones, are quite cheap and are decent enough.

I don't know about others but I only gemmed 378 and above items and enchanted 397 items when I was equipping my rogue ready for DS. On Arathor Inferno Rubies regularly are 100g +, maelstroms 150g + simply not worth gemming and enchanting an item I am going to be replacing as soon as I have the VPs.
Once I started raiding DS I gemmed and enchanted upgrades as soon as the raid finished though. |

simply because as the other poster put it waiting for better or new gear or simply cant afford it (yes i know there are daily s but id rather have money than no money )

+15 stats to chest costs 15g on my server and 35 agility on boots costs 50g. |
Whilst it pains me to see people _completely_ ungemmed and enchanted, I can understand why in a way. As others have said, it's just not worth spending money making a slight improvement to gear that you'll replace tomorrow anyway. Also, 'every last stat' doesn't matter like it once did. Another 10 intellect, or 20 strength just doesn't make enough of a difference to warrant the cost of getting it. Knowing your rotations, spells, abilities, and NOT running in widowed-mode with Facebook on the go (ie: giving a monkies about the game) far outweighs the benefit of a few gems. And that's assuming you can get them. Take SporeggarEU for example: peak time last night, someone struggled to find an enchanter that could do Landslide. After about 15 minutes of banter on trade (somewhat limited by the 10 people actually in Ogr and the 4 people that were actually talking), someone went out of their way to buy it from the trainer at a cost of 5 maelstroms. On our realm, that was about 750g just in crystals. And don't even think about gems - same story - 300g + for an uncut Inferno, and good luck tracking down one of the half-dozen high level Jewelcrafters left on the realm! So to reiterate, whilst it bothers me greatly to see people 'not care or bother', I can see why in some cases. |

there is no excuses.. absolutly no one. It is plain laziness and a shout to your fellowplayers.. im so bad to play this game, and i want to be carried by you!.. Whenever i see one i refuse to play with them.. cba to support that kind of laziness! |
|

Well the gems and enchants are completely dependent on the server economy. I can't blame anyone that is not raiding for not wanting to spend 2000g on a silly weapon enchant or put 900g into 3 blue quality gems.
|
I tend to skip enchanting / gemming pieces if I expect to replace the armor piece in a reasonably short time. Saves a lot of money. |
|
|
that is just laziness.. and you expect others to carrie you. No one said you should use epic gems.. but to not use any gems at all.. is awfull! |
Yeah, having 5 less strength than I could have had makes me REALLY HARD to carry and all :( |

It totally depends what stage you're at in my opinion. If you've not long reached level cap, you're probably going to be replacing your gear fairly soon, it may not be worth spending gold on gems and enchants. I don't begrudge anyone for wanting to save their gold. Especially if it means I'll beat them on the DPS meter ;) |

You know, there is common gems that sells for next to nothing.. We're talking like 10-15 g each TOPS.. Why not bother buying those? They are still a huge upgrade. It might not be agility ones if you are a hunter, or intellect ones if you are a mage, but at least just putting some hit or crit gems in your gear is still a decent boost. You could easily buy 20 common crit gems for about 100-150 gold

You sir, are on a lucky server. At the moment im leveling an enchating charater cause i expect i could make a lot ot maney out of it on the server i am. the mats on AH cost together around 500g FOR EACH, enchanting rod. |
thats pretty common, prices always go sky high at end of an expansion for leveling matts as people stock up, all though it pains me to tell you that those rods are removed in MoP :) |

People doing 8k dps without gems is a player issue and not a gear one. |

Imo, it also depends what level of gear you speak of. For instance, I'll only ever gem something if it's of high enough quality but won't be replaced shortly. Currently, that's anything 378+, but anything below that (during the "gearing" process) if you know there's a direct upgrade coming up I can understand not doing it.
What I can't stand either is seeing people in raiding gear (even 384+), but not using gems or enchants, especially if they intend to raid on that character. It just shows a lack of preparation and (to me) feels quite rude to others who have spent the time/money to make the groups life easier. That said, servers also come into it. While on high population servers gems are cheap as anything, low population servers have people charging literally whatever they want for gems/enchants, especially the more expensive things such as Power Torrent, Intellect on wrist etc... |

i love people crying about empty gem slots they should try to play on empty servers where there is nothing in AH.

Who needs gems and enchants when you've got SWAGG!!
