I had this idea on my mind so I thought I'd just toss it out there.
A group of treasure hunters and mercenaries who venture out into the most ridiculously dangerous and stupidly lethal areas of azeroth to claim long lost treasures and do the odd side jobs such as ransoms, assassinations and more.
With an unlikely leader...
The guild would mostly consist of the misfits, the outcasts, people who are shunned in other societies and normal people too...sometimes.
I'm not saying it's a sure thing this idea but I thought I'd just throw it out to the public so I can get some feedback.
Let me know what you think.

While the concept is fun and good and I'm sure would be nice;

What the server needs is not more people who want to be guild leaders. It needs people willing to throw their lot in with people already around and support existing guilds and projects, rather than trying to start their own. Especially when all the things that this guild would be offering I can almost certainly say exist elsewhere already.

The whole sort of point of this potential guild is to take in the role players who don't fit in with other guilds or are not acceptable to join other guilds. Not to steal the population from other guilds, from what I've seen in roleplay experience, variety helps keep things interesting and if everyone joins the same guild or similar Guilds. Sort of ruins the point.
In my opinion any new roleplay guilds would fit in nicely as long as it has a decent amount of rolepalyers in it and some sort of reason to be around.

I think it could be a really good idea, I think you go for it

I think its a good idea, but most of the elements already exist in other guilds.

Mm, again it's only an idea, before I decide on forming it I can change the elements to be a bit more unique compared to the other guilds.
Any more advice would be great on this whilst I'm planning it.

Since we're on the topic, I could use a list of the elements to change about the guild. I'm not sure on what to adjust.

Well...things to adjust. I'll just go through each of the points you made.

A group of treasure hunters and mercenaries

Treasure hunters, now, treasure hunters I like. Gives you a great excuse to venture off into far-flung areas in search of something ICly, whilst meaning you can do travel RP and RP, well, pretty much anywhere. And there are -so- many brilliant places to RP outside of Stormwind. (I'm a bit of an Outland freak myself, but I also love Azeroth and Northrend.)
The mercenaries bit to me is a bit of a sticking point, since you generally need someone rich enough to hire you. Now, this could be an NPC, but it gets fairly similar to military RP in that sense. And most merc guilds I've come across tend to swan around in their fancy armor, lethal weapons and colourful tabards outside the pig whilst not doing much.

Once again, treasure hunters I already mentioned, with my stamp of approval. The odd side jobs could work, assuming you've got enough creativity to come up with lots of ideas - and the scope of where this band of adventurers travel will give you more than enough oppertunities.
As for the assassinations bit - I'm a little skeptical. Sure, you could get people to MRP alt these important people to be killed, but on the whole assassinations are supposed to be quiet, sneaky jobs - you wouldn't send in an entire band of misfits to deal with one person.

As for this, it's good. Means lots of people can get involved on those characters that they never normally get to play. I myself have a Draenei Anchorite who would probably just go along out of good-naturedness and patch up their wounded, whilst learning about Azeroth.

But yeah, anyway. I like the treasure hunters bit, although it could be a sort of travelling caravan job who go around faaaairly slowly, hearing stories and finding themself in a new place every day, sometimes lingering around villages for their own purpose, picking up travellers as and when people want to...It sounds good.

So, drop the mercenary section. Keep the treasure hunting section gotcha.
I'm just thinking they're could be another element to it as well as treasure hunting.
Give me some ideas, if not I'll just stick with treasure hunting as it is.

Sole Circle are a group of treasure hunters who've set up a market to sell their exotic wares as a public RP event, and we're hoping to do another one at some point in the future. :D But when we're not off on events to exotic places we're usually based in Stormwind, so you could really take advantage of the out-of-Stormwind part and see our lovely lovely gameworld IC.

We also don't do the side-job ransom/Assassination part, which I personally approve of. I have a lot of toons who tend to only fit in a very specific sort of guild, so a gang of misfits is a good thing to stick on.

I think the "misfit" section is partially done in criminal RP, such as the Avarice. Assassin guilds tend to do similar to what I mentioned about mercs - swan about with fancy armor and just hang around the pig. As I mentioned before, the entire guild won't go off to kill one person.

This is just a suggestion, but, what I'm getting when I read your post is a general gang of travellers. Their purpose for specific destinations could be treasure hunting, but they travel around, occasionally picking up people as they travel through villages. Constantly on the road, looking for, well. Something? Nothing? Maybe some of the characters just don't like the cities. It allows people to have their own reasons for joining the little band of people, but still have a reason to RP and travel together. Just a suggestion, but the whole misfits/outcast thing fits in nicely with that :)

Edit: Not to mention, the name Gold Talon Caravan.

I think I'll go ahead on it then, put the guild together! :)
Wish me luck it doesn't go horribly wrong and fail.
