Skinning or Two JC's for MoP?

I have been giving this alot of thought recently and would love to have some suggestions. Ok so here's the case:
I currently have every profession maxed (gathering and crafting) with two alchemists decked in transmutation mastery. Now i never farm materials myself (99% of the time) but i still have them maxed and i have been recently thinking of dumping skinning (the most useless profession IMO) to level JC to 525 before mists come out. This would be my 2nd jewelcrafter and hence it will help me getting the patterns twice as fast as having only 1. But then i will have no skinner, i do have a level 20 rogue that i can pick skinning and level later but i am not planning to level her anytime soon. So what you guys suggest? Keep 1 jewelcrafter and skinner just incase i need leather or dump it and go with 2 jewelcrafters? And oh, letherworking is down to 2nd lowest in my profession leveling list when mists come out with engineering being lowest so its not like i would actually be needing any leather for myself early in the expansion. Its all about gold making potential. |

Id say it depends on your server at least? I have Skinning/LW on this char, my main since I started WoW, as it seemed logic then. Now Im more into using the AH, buying mats, crafting stuff and selling for profit, but due to the nearly empty realm I am on, the AH doesnt contain more then a few pages of items and if I need leather for something, there is barely any stuff I can buy on AH, craft and make a profit, so gathering myself is needed.
On a good realm with lots of active people and a good economy, Id say drop the gathering profs :P |

Depends if you have a leather worker, my only leather worker (because I personally hate the profession) is also my only skinner.

Server dependant. How much rivalry for JC patterns is there going to be. ? Plus near everyone will need leather at some point in MoP be it mostly for leatherworking but i'm thinmking new leg armor will use it. and they'll sell like bloody hotcakes. i remebert the drakehide coming out i had a !@#$e load of mats bought all up and then made a absolute mint selling them on AH 2 at a time. for very over the top prices at the time.

My server's AH is pretty stable and sufficiently supplied (atleast alliance side is), so its rare not to find mats during leveling unless someone decides to buyout all profession leveling choke materials and sell them for a premium.
As i have already said i have all professions at max, leatherworking included. But my main is a mage with enchanting/tailoring so he will definitely be a priority for leveling. After that i will rush getting jewelcrafting/inscription and alchemy to 600 as fast as i can. Last will be blacksmithing/leatherworking and finally engineering. Leatherworking has no use for me to rush in terms of gameplay, i don't need anything from it that my main mage can use or benefit in raiding so its only use is gold-making. And in that area, jewelcrafting/inscription/alchemy will do much better for a first few months of mop launch. About patterns, yes i know jewelcrafting and inscription market is severly contested in my realm. But it would'nt matter at expansion launch since everyone will be slowed by dailies and the faster you can get more patterns before other people get them the more gold you will make. I remember buying the Burning shadowspirit diamond pattern for 30k the day it was introduced in live and making over 250k by selling metas for first couple of days when there was little or no competition. |
