Hi all.

I ve been dueling a lot to learn other classes. However can't beat a Dk. Here is the Dk I am dueling with

Simply he is very skilled. I am trying to cs him, iceblocking his AMS , watching his spellcopy thing, saving my blink for dg. but no matter I ve done so far, cant beat him.(my record is 28k) I know my gear is not that good, but wondering how you guys handling that situation. Any advice would be appreciated.

Well let's begin with the basics shall we..

First of all, he is outgearing you.
When he DG's you, he will use his "spell copy"-ability so I recommend using slow fall when he DG's you.

Fights against dk who knows how to play are frustrating and depend a lot on your RNG and you have small chance of winning.

Time Dragon's breath when he grips you/(gets to you), if he isn't smart enough to use the Magic shield. And if he has used his trinket, use RoF instantly after using Dragon's breath so you can pull some heals on yourself.

Use Mirror image as help for your kiting, do not glyph it, otherwise no frostbolt snare..
gives a good advantage versus melee classes.

When you get out of 5y'ish to 10y range, he should start trying to root/(use spells on) you so I recommend using blanket silence (talented) so he wont do it instantly at beginning of the duel.

I recommend saving ice block when he pops trinket (all of his cd's)/ Cauterize.

It is really hard to beat a frost/unholy dk as fire mage, try frost, bigger chances of winning. :)

I would save my iceblock on cauterize simply because it's another 50-60k hp.

If you silence him in the beginning of the duel to gain diatance you should be able to silence him again when he's low and pops lichborne or tries to ghoul sac. Silencing will prevent both.

When he gets to you use dragon's breath and jump ~10 yds away and cast a fireball at his face. If it crits you should combust if the dk has used ams (they should use it early to get it again asap) and without ams a dk with combustion is a dead dk.

He has 1 way to get out of novas. That's his trinket. Not much. He's immune to roots during ams but ams doesn't remove them. When he dg's you, cast a slow fall like adviced above and blink after.

Tldr:
Use dragon's breath, nova and coc on cd
Save ice block for cauterize (try to get 0 cauterize ticks on you)
Silence the dk when he's low or to prevent chains of ice.
Use slow fall between death grip and blink to prevent dark simulacrum.
Pop combustion with fireball crit or even scorch after ams (hurts a lot)
Try to catch his pets in your novas and db (50% of uh dmg lol)

Frost dks aren't any easier imo. They can howling blast you to death from 30yds because our shields are weak (generally 1 HB per shield)

If i remember right it's a 30yd range. Dks often use it when your midair on your way to them during a grip. This is something GOOD dks do. Bad ones won't but the extra gcd isn't much if it'll stop the dk from blinking after you. It's good to practice for the worst.

Even though I'm able to talk about this in theory I ALWAYS forget about dark simulacrum when playing on my mage. Still a dk has never blinked after me which i do a lot on my dk. (playing my mage so low dks don't do that) /offtopic
