..will combustion be the primary pve spec in MoP once again?

Gee, you really can't look at a MoP patch note and apply it to live conditions. For all we (who don't keep an eye on mage performance on beta) know, that change could have taken fire from !@#$ to viable.

Fire is more than viable :P

At entry level gear fros and fire are pretty much the same dps. In all my hours of hitting the raid dummys in shatt i cant figure out which one im getting a better performance from.

The combustion change is tiny its like an extra 30k dmg once every 45 seconds

Fire is (more than) viable in PVE and PVP on the current beta build.

also I think I'm not the only one who didn't realize the change is only for the impact damage

Which is why you don't rely on third parties to relay the information; you read the beta builds on MMO-champion or somesuch where they don't rewrite it into their own pretty little story.

I read it there I just didn't mouesover tooltip. I if anyone should know Combustion DoT doesn't scale with fkn spell power lol.

So you want to say that combustion won't be a big help in PVP ? it is buffed a lot anyway .

Which is why you don't rely on third parties to relay the information; you read the beta builds on MMO-champion or somesuch where they don't rewrite it into their own pretty little story.

god no! mmo champ puts out patch notes before they are official all the damn time. The amount of errors ive seen in them is unreal. Only trust the patch notes on mmo when they are made official by blizz and not the mmo ones they make before announcements!

Also combustion is OP like this. Its actually a pretty stupid level of scaling considering the spells base damage. In pvp gear it can crit 130+k....... (thats like ilevel 170 ish heroic is 504ish)

Also dont trust simcraft! lhivera is slack. Im confident to say that living bomb beats frost bomb as fire. Invocation is useless as frost. spamming blast or only using blast to force hotstreaks are both not the best way to do it. I wish i could post on US forums so i could talk to him/her about some of these things. No one else seems to have noticed or brought them up.

its not a guide i need. Its to get them to check things they have not checked.

For example I dont think people realise that WE ooms with invocation as it has no mana regen. I dont think this is taken into account on simcraft. This means you lose 1 icelance every 25 seconds which is a decent dps loss.

Its only recently that they found on simcraft that blast spam beats using blast as hotstreak forcer. However they miss the fact that HS forcing is the best way to get a big combustion on demand. So I am better the best way is blast spam until combust has 10 sec left then hold for HS forcing. Again not tested on simcraft.

Frostbomb i dont think is better than LB for fire due to timings. Frost bomb makes it FAR harder to get a good ignite due to refresh frequency being significantly higher.

So as you can see, its not a guide i need but contact with one of the simcraft people so these things can be looked at and thought about. As arrogant as it sounds im quite a bit ahead of any guide that will be writen since guides tend to aim towards general population and not top end min/maxers.

Well you can talk to me if you like, I'll be happy to relay your models to rawr and simcraft teams if that is what you wish for. I'm sure they'll find out in time by themselves tho.

doesnt really cut it to TC through an intermediary.

They most likely will find out in time but its always better to find out sooner rather than later. Plus some of the things they dont know is actually because they assume they work as they think they do but dont play enough on beta to notice. (invocation + WE issue)

I said a long time ago mages need a forum we all can use. A lot of the top TCers dont go to EJ anymore which was used for mages. Now its all done on US forums (hence i wish i could post there)

Indeed, EJ has become very bloated and not as professional as it used to be - I rarely check on what's going on there any more.

Seeing as I do no longer use Rawr or SimCraft either and rather calculate my own models (which tend to be more accurate), I just don't see any use for it any more - the information given there also tends to be more rudimentary nowadays and sometimes badly corrupt.
