Hi,
If there is already a thread regarding this issue, please do inform me and I will empty this thread and move my issue to the said thread. I was a little busy so I totally forgot about the MoP prepatch, I patched, or tried to, today, but at exactly 30% it gives me the following message: ERROR: The file "C:\Users\Public\Desktop\World of Warcraft.Ink" could not be renamed to "C:\Users\Public\Desktop\World of Warcraft.Ink.Trash". If this problem persists, please contact Blizzard Technical Support. (ConflictManager::ResolveConflicts/3) MESSAGE: To check this installation for problems, please click the "Repair" button. The Repair tool can automatically fix many update errors. I used the Repair tool, but it didn't help. The problem seems to be very simple (a rename) but since I'm not very educated when it comes to computerscience, I decided to ask the forums for help before I accidentally remove a vital part of the game. Much Love. |

Hi there,
Normally this is an admin right sissue. Can you make sure that the game has administrator privileges? On Windows 7 and Vista you can check that the game has administrator privileges, by right clicking on the shortcut to the game and choosing Properties. Then choose the Compatibility tab, and finally choose Run this Program as an Administrator. OK this screen, then try the game again. |

It's allowed as administrator and the programm is being executed as administrator, but it doesn't work. I've ran another repair which said everything was fine.
Would it be possible for you to manually delete the file specified?
I can't get further than: C:\Users\Public
Can't find the Desktop or anything similar. Thanks for the help so far by the way! |
I am unable to find the specified file, maybe it does not exist? How do I continue?
Try going to C:\Users\<your user>\ and you should find the desktop folder.
i know this is probubly a silly question but are you an administrator on the machine?
in most cases standard users cannot make changes to the public path. |
Try going to C:\Users\<your user>\ and you should find the desktop folder. That got me further, but there isn't anything named World of Warcraft.Ink in there, not even anything that has to do with World of Warcraft. I made a map there name World of Warcraft.Ink and got no message the file already existed, whilst the download still tells me the file couldn't be renamed. Yes, the account is administrator, the game is and, although I usually don't have to do that, I even executed the download as an administrator. |
I am still being denied access, is there any way to perhaps skip this step since it looks like a nuisance?

Bump, ran another repair which said everything was fine, the said map is still unable to be renamed and I can not find the map myself.
