Instant 20 sec cooldown
Step through the shadows and appear behind a target. Movement speed is increased by 70% for 2 sec afterwards. "This ability can be used while rooted but wont break the root."

Increases movement speed by 70% for 4 sec. If you are afflicted by any movement-impairing effects, activating this ability will instead remove any such effects and grant immunity to their re-application for 4 sec.

REMOVE PREPARATION for something like this
Shadow Dash
5-25 yd range
Instant 24 sec cooldown
Dash through the shadows to a specific location. This ability also remove all movement-impairing effects.

Removing Preparation would mean our cooldowns would need some kind of rework aswell. Rogue survavility is very low atm.
U could make evasion 1 min but duration around 6-8 secs. (Like the change for sprint)
Vanish 1min or 1,5min
Blind+SmokeBomb 2 mins
and Cloak of Shadows 60 secs or 70 secs

Dispels having a cooldown now is why i suggest this changes to give us better mobility and survavility not depending on other classes.

I'd be happy with a 20s. CD on ShS, as that seems to be inline with Warrior's Charge, Mage's Blink and Monk's Roll. All three of those can be modified by talents or glyphs, so they would be pretty well balanced at that point.

Lowering the Energy cost of BoS, that's something that kinda needs to happen. Right now using it leaves you Energy starved by the time you reach your target. 45-50 Energy seems pretty reasonable to me. Enough to keep us from spamming it, but not too much as to leave us only autoattacking once we get to our target.

Removing Preparation and balancing our abilities on their own merits, this is something the class desperately needs. For the life of me I don't understand why our abilities got longer CDs now, considering Sprint is our only baseline gapcloser, and it's relatively weak to start with. As Deadly Throw isn't baseline anymore, the class is left severely hindered against ranged classes, as well as relatively weak on add control in PvE content.

This Shadow Dash of yours, wouldn't that be more or less just a Blink copy? I'm imagining it visually looking similar to Charge, but not being tied to a target. Something like that would fit very well for Rogues as well, since the class does use mysticism to do certain things. However, such an ability should also be balanced against similar abilities, which means the same 20s. CD seems sensible to me.

Other potential replacements would be a Death Grip clone. Basically, the Rogue would use a Rope and Hook or Chain and Hook and pull the target back to them with a that. That's basically an inverse Shadowstep, as instead of you going to your target you'd now be pulling it back to you. Call it Hookshot or something like that.

Another one I've thought of is some kind of CD, which would make you unstoppable for a limited amount of time. Not usable when stunned or incapacitated, but during it you couldn't be CCd at all. Put a 1-1,5min CD and adjust the duration of the effect accordingly, and there you have a winner.

All that being said, Rogues could do with more baseline mobility in general, things that aren't tied to talents. Sprint is just not that great for PvP, it's the easiest gapcloser in the game to counter.

Mage's Blink has 15 secs cooldown. Anyway the idea is to be able to use step while rooted aswell.
Shadow Dash would open more options for the rogues cause we wouldnt need a target to move to a specific location.

Oh yeah, forgot about that. Cuz Mages really needed that handout, they're so weak... /rollseyes
Anyways, just because Mages are OP (again, or still, depending on how you look at it) doesn't mean Rogues need to be as well. 20s. CD is pretty much fine for me. Having the old BC mechanic of "Take your roots with you" on ShS, yeh, I do like that. Considering that similar abilities can have multiple charges, lower CDs and many other modifiers it doesn't even seem too powerful.

I do rather like that Shadow Dash of yours. Breaking roots is also well in line with what other classes have on similar abilities, so I don't see why it couldn't work.

Rogue baseline mobility is poor at best. Our only baseline gapcloser is Sprint, and that's the easiest one of them all to counter. The class's survivability has historically been balanced around it being relatively mobile, but this is not the case come Mists. We need to talent for things that many other classes get baseline, and often they still do them better.

Damage on live currently is irrelevant, as it's balanced around where it scales to at lv90. Things are currently out of whack at 85, so you shouldn't draw any conclusions about class balance before we reach the new level cap.
